It’s hard to comprehend that almost seven months have passed since the last time the Arizona MilePost was published. The time has passed so quickly and for us has been jam-packed with travel adventures. Good ones. Ones during which we’ve met some really neat people and been able to share the Good Sam experience with others. Jim and I have traveled a lot of miles this summer, seeing this beautiful country of ours. Our aim was to participate in as many Samborees in Region 2 as possible and at the same time meet family commitments as well. So we zigzagged our way across the northwest and went to Nevada, Northern California, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Idaho, Northern Nevada and back and forth to Arizona several times. All in all, we attended 5 Samborees, participated in The Rally in Redmond Oregon, made it to 2 Family Reunions, and sang at 4 Birthday celebrations for our grandchildren. Oh, and while we were at it, we also traded in our fifth wheel trailer and bought a new motor home. It was a wonderful fun-filled summer and a rather expensive one. Now we are back home in Arizona and enjoying the weather as it begins to cool down. We’re ready to get to work with all of you as we prepare for 2008 and next year’s big event, our Arizona State Samboree. We’re looking forward to sharing this celebration with you in the coming year. And there are many opportunities for volunteer service for our members. Elsewhere in this newsletter, you’ll find information about open positions on your state staff and volunteers needed to help out during the Samboree. Please don’t hesitate to let your Chapter President, or Assistant State Director or me know of your willingness to help out. As Uncle Sam says, “We need you.” Here’s an important reminder. IN THE DRIVERS SEAT

Wow! Where has the time gone? It’s hard to compre-hend that almost seven months have passed since the last time the Arizona MilePost was published. All in all, we attended 5 Samborees, par-ticipated in The Rally in Redmond Oregon, made it to 2 Family Reunions, and sang at 4 Birthday celebrations for our grandchildren.

And there are many opportunities for vol-unteer service for our members. Elsewhere in this newsletter, you’ll find information about open positions on your state staff and volunteers needed to help out during the Samboree. Please don’t hesitate to let your Chapter President, or Assistant State Director or me know of your willingness to help out. As Uncle Sam says, “We need you.”

Here’s an important reminder. Beginning in January, there will be a new process in place concerning the Ari-

zona Mile Post. For those of you who have Internet ac-cess, you’ll be able to go to the Arizona State Website (www.arizonagoodsam.org) and read the Mile Post. If

you so desire, you will be able to download your own copy. If you would like to have a hardcopy mailed to you, you must fill out the subscription coupon that is on the back page of this newsletter, and mail the coupon and your payment to the Mile Post Editor. By taking ad-vantage of the Internet process, you will help reduce the costs of producing the Mile Post. At the same time, we want to be sure everyone gets chapter and statewide in-formation. So either way that you chose to get the newsletter, Internet or Subscription, we’re still getting our news out to all members.

Jim and I hope the coming holiday seasons will be joy-ous occasions for you all. Drive carefully out there, have fun, and we’ll see you down the road.

Chapter CapersOur Adventures from

March 25 thru Oct 25, 2007

4 SEASONS SAMSBy Richard Rademacher

Assistant Director Jim Hauser's April gathering of Chapters at Cave Creek Rec. area was well at-tended by our members.  It was a good opportunity to re-new old friendships, make new friends and share ideas. April was also our Chapter an-niversary.  We had our annual gathering in Payson and cele-brated with a menu of grilled steaks, baked potatoes and other great side dishes. The summer month campouts saw the attendance at Potato Patch, Clint's Wells, Rim Lakes, Flagstaff and Wickenburg areas smaller than usual as we had so many of our members traveling. The Mid-West and East Coast areas were the popular locations of choice to visit.  There were family reunions, graduations, and lots of visiting with family and friends.  Historic sites were on every one’s agenda.  The consensus of the members that were traveling was Arizona may be hot in the summer, but all said they were happy to get back home after experiencing the high humidity of the mid and east sec-tion of our great country.  We are just so spoiled with our Arizona Highways.  If you think they are bad here, you should try the high-ways back east.  Even the pot holes have pot holes.

Our Chapter has been alternating between have-planned menus and pot lucks on Saturday nights.  We find this works very well.  Hiking and playing new games and the "old" standby games keeps every-one busy.

October campout should see ev-eryone back from their travels.  It will be fun to share stories of the summer travels.

ALMOST YUMAN SAMSBy Gene Bryant

Our last campout for the season was in April at the Tier Drop RV Park in Welton, AZ. For this time of the year we did have a good turn out, 7 rigs and one drive in for the Wednesday night dinner. Our host were the Bennetts with a small amount of assistance from the Bryants. Everett made some great homemade ice cream which was enjoyed by everyone. Several games were played with certifi-cates given to the winner of each game. In May we had our lunch at Mr. Lu's. This was also well attended by 12 of our members.

Our October lunch was at the Foothills Eatery. There were 14 members present at this early in the season lunch.

Our October campout was changed to the Sans End RV Park in Winterhaven, CA. This campout drew 11 member rigs plus 3 mem-bers drove out for our meeting and dinner.

At our meeting there was some discussion about the proposed changes to our by-laws which re-sulted in 1 minor change. The new by-laws were approved and will be mailed to National Headquarters for approval. There was also some discussion about the up-coming election of new officers.

Due to changes being made for our December campout at Gold Rock Ranch, we have decided to change the location this year to the Sans End RV Park.

We are looking forward to a very active and fun season again this year

5 West Valley Good SamsBy Lynda Schallmann

In April we were at the Maricopa County Cave Creek Park. This meeting was a gathering of the five west valley Good Sam’s. The event was hosted by the Kactus Sams and Amy and Jim Houser did a great job of organizing the events. Members began arriving on Thursday and the Kactus Sams hosted a Welcome Get Together at their camp fire. Cookies, brown-ies, and home made root beer floats were served.

Friday morning the Kactus Sams had coffee available. The Burros ate breakfast in their respective rigs and for lunch they took advan-tage of the many good places to eat in the area. It took awhile for the various groups to start mingling but eventually the groups loosened

Page 6 November 5, 2007 Arizona Mile Post up and started to enjoy the gather-ing of the various Good Sam groups. In the afternoon there were games, while some folks de-cided to strike out on their own and check out the local area. At 6PM there was a Pot Luck dinner. Members of each of the groups brought their favorite dish and the

Kactus Sams prepared a campfire for all to enjoy.

On Saturday morning there was a pot luck breakfast where everyone brought their favorite breakfast dish. Coffee was again provided by the Kactus Sams. Since ev-eryone scattered to explore the Cave Creek area, lunch was catch-as-catch-can. Supper time found everyone at a hot dog roast hosted by the Kactus Sams. There were lots of “dogs”, plenty of “fixings”, chips and other assorted goodies. The campfire that followed was a welcome treat as most folks were too full to do much of anything else.  On Sunday morning there were left over breakfast items and coffee available. Most folks folded up their “tents” and headed home af-ter saying their good-bys.

During the visit to the Cave Creek area many of the members found an abundance of things to do. Shopping and garage sales were among the activities pursued. Kjell Haugland reported the area was beautiful with many scenic hiking trails. He mentioned Suki Greer, Doris Crowley, one of the ladies from another club and he took a 6 mile hike up and over one of the small mountains. He said it was not very strenuous, the weather was comfortable and the hike very invigorating. There was a Rodeo in the area and the Brew-ers and guests from England went

to see it. “The Brits” loved the cowboy action as did Pete and Olive. Thelma Coatney and Shirley Perry’s sister Oween drove up for a day and were instrumental in getting a group of folks to play cards.

ARIZONA BURROSBy Lynda Schallmann

As Always, October At the Horspi-tality RV Park Was Great. Mem-bers arrived on Thursday October 25th ready for a weekend of fun and friendship after a five month break from RV’ing together. The gathering started out with the leg-endary Thursday Hot Dog feast ac-companied by a variety of delicious side dishes. The weekend was spent catching up on summer ac-tivities, playing cards and games and checking out the numerous garage sales in the area. Satur-day’s Pot Luck was a feast to be-hold with enough food to feed a small army. Members departed early Sunday morning with plans for an exciting Thanksgiving feast at the High Desert Park in Black Canyon City.

Although our numbers are still small, the AZ Second Chance Sams met at the Wild Horse Pass Casino for their October Meeting. Seven members were present. Af-ter getting an update on their Chapter Family and the State

Meeting, they set to work planning for the 2008 Samboree. Busy hands and minds keep this Chap-ter active and young-at- heart.

BUCK-A-ROO SAMS

CATALINA SAMSBy Darlene Cantino

Our April campout was Ladies Day, held at Cochise Terrace RV Park in Benson, AZ, with 13 mem-ber rigs,1 guest rig, Sarah & Harry Hager, and 7 drive-ins. We are very happy to welcome our new members, Ruth and Harvey Curry. The weather was great which gave us an opportunity to get in a lot of Blongo Ball, swimming, bike riding and Mexican train. We had our meeting on Saturday morning, then the fun began, the men serv-ing the ladies the drinks and appe-tizers while we waited for the steaks and all the trimming to be prepared. All the foods was deli-cious and a good time was had by all. Brunch was held at Café Ramey on the 20th, this has be-come a real nice way for everyone to get together in between our reg-ular monthly campouts. The May campout was held at Turquoise Vista RV Park in Naco, AZ, with 9 rigs and 2 guest rigs, Sarah & Harry Hager and J.R. & Lorraine Hudson. Again our beauti-ful AZ. weather was fabulous so we could get in a lot of visiting, playing Mexican train and poker.

Some of us ventured across the Mexican border and did some shopping in Naco, Sonora, and then Friday evening we all went to the fish fry at the Turquoise Coun-try Club. Saturday was our regular meeting, then at noon we had our wonderful potluck lunch; we are blessed to have so many good cooks in our club. Brunch was held on the 18th at Café Ramey with a good attendance. After a nice summer of doing what ever, it was time for our October campout which was held at Grande Vista RV in Wilcox. There were 14 rigs in attendance with 3 guests; J.R. & Lorraine Hudson and Nickolas Stanfield (Grandson of Stan & Ann Everson), also we had 5 drive ins. Our meeting and potluck was held on Friday after-noon, in which, we welcomed as new members; Harry & Sara Hager into the club. Saturday ev-eryone enjoyed a free breakfast curiosity of the RV park, then off to the Rex Allen parade and all of Wilcox’s festivities. A great time was had by all, and Sunday was time to say our good byes and head home. Our meeting this month was at the Golden Corral on the 19th.

COCHISE RENEGADES

FOOTLOOSE SAMSBy Jack Nelson

The 2nd  Thursday during the Win-ter months is Chapter Meeting Day for the Footloose. Sams. With the

majority of our members spending their Summers in the Northwest, it

has become a "much to be looked for" second Thursday in Septem-ber, at which time we, gather at various points in Washington State for a final meeting prior to returning to Yuma. This meeting is the "Brain Child" of Wagonmaster Har-vey Hoglund, and it seems that each time we meet; he has man-aged to outdo his previous efforts. After a pre-arranged tour of what is arguably the finest private collec-tion of automobiles in the Country, located near Tacoma WA., we ad-journed to the beautifully lo-cated Valley View Restaurant, near Bonney Lake, WA. where in addition to the beautiful view , 45 members and Guests had a "Scrumptious" meal. As noted in previous columns in Milepost, We do not believe that Harvey is fully aware of just what being Wagon-master entails, and woe be it to any member who wises Harvey up.

GREEN VALLEY ROADRUNERSBy Hal Jewell

Our camping trip to Palm Springs in January 2008 has been post-poned to January 2009. Of the number of campgrounds contacted only 1 had available spaces but were filling up so fast we couldn’t commit soon enough, necessitat-ing the postponement.

Our February campout will be from the 11th through the 14th and we’re heading to Rocky Point, Mexico on the Sea of Cortez. We have seven spaces reserved and I understand the campground is adjacent to the ocean. Hopefully all will have a good time.

Page 8 November 5, 2007 Arizona Mile Post The Desert Shrimp Festival will be November 1 through November 4

in Gila Bend. Don’t know how many shrimp we’re going to be able to get but looks like we can still take a tour of the shrimp farm. Camarones de Ajo,anyone?

In March we’re planning a trip to Laughlin, NV at the Riverside Re-sort with one overnight stay on the way, four nights in Laughlin and an overnight on the way back. Some of the activities include a gold mine tour, boat and Jet Ski rentals at Lake Mead, bowling, restaurants and golf. And oh yeah, casinos!

Several of our members took a trip to the Grand Canyon in Septem-ber. We were based out of Williams, AZ at the Railside RV Park. We took the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon, ex-perienced a train robbery and went through the second longest train tunnel in Arizona. (Took about 5 seconds!) One evening a repre-sentative from the Lowell Observa-tory gave a talk and set up tele-scopes to see the stars. We went to Cameron, AZ and had lunch at The Trading Post, an excellent restaurant with good prices.

We have several other activities planned for 2008 and will keep you posted.

HORSELESS CARRIAGE GANGBy Wayne Hebbard

The Horseless Carriage Gang is assembling back in Arizona once again. Many of our members are snowbirds, so our camping season runs from November through the Samboree in March.  We will begin our campouts on November 13th through 15th at Shadow Ridge RV Resort in Ajo.  Following this some

of our members will take an ex-tended trip down to Rocky Point in Mexico.  The balance of our out-

ings are still in the planning stages and will be finalized at the Novem-ber campout.  Most of our regular campouts are followed by an ex-tended trip for those of us who have the time to explore a little fur-ther.  These trips are often very in-teresting. They do not have the whole "Gang" along so they don't play the games such as bean bag baseball and others, but we still enjoy the company and places we visit.

We have been fortunate in attract-ing new members over the past. There are several people with whom we have been in contact since the last Samboree that we hope will join us to "try us on for size" and possible join our chap-ter.  We always enjoy reading the Milepost to see what other chap-ters are doing.  We get good ideas for our own chapter to use from those reports.

In April the Kactus Sams Chapter hosted a multi-chapter campout at Cave Creek Regional Park. The event was planned and orches-trated by the West Phoenix Asst. State Directors Jim & Amy Houser who did an excellent job of coordi-nating the event. Four Chapters at-tended and we had 28 rigs includ-ing State Directors Joan & Jim Burtrum and Jerry & Lou Floyd from the State Staff. We all en-joyed the games, the potluck, homemade rootbeer provided by the Housers, the wiener roast, and conversations around the evening campfires. All in atten-

continue this in future years. After the April campout our mem-bers scattered throughout the country for summer travels and work-camper jobs but look forward to our fall campouts.

LAKE HAVASU SAMSBy Rosalee Ring

Welcome back to all of you from, what we hope has been a fun filled summer. Lake Havasu Sams members traveled to the North-west, Northeast and many places in between.

Since the last publication, of the Arizona Mile Post, our camping season ended with April and May outings to Black Stone RV Park, Mohave Valley, AZ for an Easter Parade, games and, of course, lots of food hosted by Trail Boss Glenn & Pat Kennedy. May outing to Adobe RV Park, Golden Valley, AZ for a Cinco de Mayo celebration, which included a Mexican potluck and very special entertainment by “Wes & Louise” on the piano and wash tub base with an occasional banjo accompaniment by our own David Wright. Audience participa-tion, with mariachi’s, and oldies but goodies sing-along, was an excel-lent finale for our camping season. Thanks to Trail Boss, David & Angie Wright, for this fun filled weekend. Election of officers was held with congratulations to a sec-ond term for John Hill, President, and Dee Hill, Secretary, and to newly elected Vice President, Ross Childers, Treasurer, Jo Anne Wilkerson, and Roger Erickson, Wagonmaster.

October outing started our camp-ing season with a Hobo Halloween

celebration with Trail Boss Bob & Doris Drust assisted by George & Nancy Westhoven. Hobo stew, knapsack Halloween auction, bis-cuits & gravy, boche ball, Wizard, poker and a camp fire were among the exciting activities enjoyed by all at Burro Creek Campground, near Wikiup, AZ. Proceeds from the knapsack auction will be do-nated to Adopt-A-Senior at the Lake Havasu Senior Center.

Dick & Marge Alves will be our Trail Boss for a Bar-B-Q weekend in November at the Riverside RV Park, Laughlin, NV.

Future campsites have not been revealed, but we are certain to have an extraordinary camping season with fun, food and fellow-ship. That’s what we are all about as a Good Sam member.

MOHAVE COYOTES

MOHAVE ROAMING SAMSBy Karen Dunlap

Our April Campout was at Buck-skin Mountain State Park, hosted by new members, John and Eileen Profitt. And what a campout it was! Absolutely beautiful weather all 3 days. John and Eileen spoiled us rotten with a BBQ the first night, a terrific ham dinner the 2nd night, and on Wednesday morning, cam-pout omelets with everything you could want, all in a plastic baggy put in boiling water. They provided all the fixings including fresh fruit, and several types of sweet breads. We voted to let them be our hosts

and wagonmasters for every month!!! We brought a canopy to put up, and had a wonderful site with lots of room for it. Also, lots of tables for our games and meals. What a gorgeous campground, with lots of green grass, and the Colorado River right there to enjoy. For early spring, you couldn’t have a better place to go. This one is number 2 place to go after Burro Creek, (at least for the secretary!). Our next campout will be in May at Grand Canyon Caverns, and then June through July, no scheduled campouts. August will be our yearly steak fry in the Hualapai Mountain Park, and we will resume campouts in September (Railside RV Park in Williams). Our chapter camps on Monday through Thursday mostly on the 3rd

week of the month. We are retired people, and would love to have some new members. Anyone inter-ested in information on our chap-ter, should call Ellen Kiefer, 757-5504 or visit our website

PHOENIX PHUN PHINDERSBy Karen Pence

The Phoenix Phun Phinders had a great summer. Our members met up in the cool pines for our June, July, Aug., and Sept. campouts.  We had Phun times playing cards, Frisbee golf, hiking, we even got to watch wild horses in our camp; it was one great summer.

In Sept the Phun Phinders cele-brated our 36th anniversary.  A certificate was presented to Terry and Joan Kelly who are original  members.  Paul and Tina Rideout made delicious cherry, peach and apple cobblers in their dutch ovens.  Thank you so much for your most tasty contribution to our anniversary celebration.

Now that fall is here we are looking forward to all the members return-ing to the fold.  This October we

are headed up to Camp Verde for our Halloween Bash. Looking for lots of Phun and games and spooky costumes.

Hope all our Good Sam friends had as Great a summer as we did.

RED ROCK SAMSBy Suzanne Cole

Several months have passed since the last report in spring and some great trips have been highly suc-cessful by the Red Rock Sams, plus a new membership.

In April Ollie and Ethel Bacus led a trip to Roosevelt Lake where ev-eryone parked in the Cholla Camp-ground and Ethel's treat of her homemade Navajo Tacos was en-joyed by all. Side trips were taken to Tortilla Flats and Tonto Ruins National Monument which involved a good workout on the nicely paved, but steep, trail.

The "trip" in May simply consisted of a potluck brunch picnic on a beautiful late spring day in Mingus Recreational Area with great food, sunshine and fresh air.

No campouts were scheduled for June, July or August, but Don and Ginny Arwine of Dewey were wel-comed as new members at the June meeting which was hosted by Larry and Emily Davis in their lovely Flagstaff home and yard and included a potluck.

The meeting in September was hosted by Phil and Naty DeMiguel in their park-like Flagstaff backyard and included a brunch potluck. Jerry and Barbara Hill led an inter-esting trip to Silver City, New Mex-ico, also in September.

A fun trip led by Schuyler and Bobby Lucas and Phil and Naty DeMiguel to Lake Powell Lone Rock Beach Campground met with some wind and an unexpected and thrilling sand rail ride over the dunes and hills by a friendly, ad-venturous fellow camper.

It's almost time for the yearly Christmas Dinner and Dance Party and several campouts are already on the schedule for next year!

George & Lynn Whiteside, along with guest Don & Sharon Hugaret, who are our newest members - welcome! Guests Don & Margie Murrow drove up for the day on Wednesday. Monday night our trail bosses, Jim & Jan started us off with a Hot Dog & Chili dinner. We added other goodies, with most people thinking dessert that night! We enjoyed Potluck din-ners, went out to local restaurants for breakfast and lunch and gener-ally added pounds to our bodies. Tuesday morning, the guys de-feated the girls again in Bean Bag Baseball. The girls have decided that the guys should make up our team at the Samboree. As usual, card games and Mexican Train were enjoyed each day. One af-ternoon, Trail Boss Jan taught the ladies how to make a Corn Cob Santa. The incredible thing is that when mine was finished, it actually looked like a Santa!

SUN VALLEY SAMS

By Lucy Akers

As a special project, Sun Valley Sams will be delivering 36 lap robes to the VA Hospital. These robes were made by members –with special thanks to Joyce, Sharon, Mona and Lola.

Our last two campouts were in September at Clint’s Wells and Oc-tober at Houston Mesa. For Thanksgiving, we will be at Kort-sen Pinal Park West south of Mari-copa, November 16-18. At this campout, we have a brown bag sale and auction to raise funds for chapter charities. A regular Thanksgiving feast is planned with

turkeys cooked over charcoal grills – yum! Election of officers for 2008 will also be held.

Our main charity project this year will be Dogs for the Deaf and this is funded by pop can money sup-plemented by special projects.

The December campout will be on the 21-23rd and January will be one week earlier than usual, the 11th

through the 13th. February 15-17; March 21-23 and April 18-20. Places to be determined. Mona and Lola have been researching good camping locations.

We welcome new members at any time. Current members are from the Phoenix area and Maricopa. Join us!

TUCSON’S SUNNY SAMSBy Chuck Brumfield

As a send off to many of our mem-bers who will be gone to other parts of the country for the sum-mer, our May meeting was a pot-luck at the home of Duane and Sandy Lauver

For the braver ones who stayed in Tucson, our September meeting was an informal luncheon at the Golden Corral.  We discussed plans for the upcoming season and just generally enjoyed visiting.

In October, we ventured to Rose Valley RV Ranch in Silver City, NM with a total of seven rigs.  We were kept busy with seeing some of the sights, enjoying the food and espe-cially the great weather during our stay.

November will be our annual steak fry at member Russ Morrison’s place.  This has become some-what of a tradition, and we all look forward to this outing.

VERDE VALLEY SAMSBy Norm Nichols

In April 5 rigs camped at Wahweap Camp Ground at Lake Powell.  Dan Raby was best fisherman, landing 11 Stripers one morning.  At this campout our reigning trophy holding fisherman, Jay Stowell, felt a need to confess & repent on his winning last year.  He told how he never caught a fish last year, only netting the large Striper (from a stranger) that won him the annual trophy.  It is fishermen of this cal-iber (Stealing Trophies) that give all decent fishermen a bad name.  Four families toured Antelope Canyon, (a slot canyon) with an In-dian guide. Eight families camped at Lyman Lake, in May, participating in our “honest” annual fishing  tourna-ment.  Ralph Graves won the tro-phy with a giant cat fish.  He also was able to call a Crappie out the water, without benefit of a hook or line. Now, some people want to call him "Jay."  We held a big fish fry, eating fresh catfish and stripers from last month.  One car load vis-ited Big Lake, while 2 cars cara-vanned on back roads of the for-est.  Also at our monthly luncheon, the chapter voted to make a dona-tion to fight breast cancer. Our June campout was held at Sunset Crater with 7 rigs present, including guests Gary & Eleanor Covert and former members Jerry & Barbie Epperson.  The Nichols, with their grandson also drove in for the pot luck supper.  The campers toured the volcanic area of the park & also took a trip to ad-jacent Indian ruins.  The Almadas & Stowells provided a pancake breakfast.  Gary & Bev Almada celebrated their 30th Wedding An-niversary, with a dinner in Flags

taff.  When they returned to camp, they found someone had TeePeed their rig with tons of toilet paper.  No campers took credit for the ca-per!  In July 7 rigs camped in Prescott, where campers toured historic sites & took advantage of the mall.  At our monthly meeting, Gary & Eleanor Covert were ac-cepted as new members.   August 7 rigs camped on the In-dian Reservation at Hon Dah.  One morning Frenchy Pelletier locked himself out of his rig and on the same day Ann Stowell locked her-self out in the afternoon.

They must drink from the same bottle.  Jay Stowell led a 2 car car-avan on the Indian Reservation to Hawley Lake and the Alchesay-Williams Creek National Fish Hatchery.  Two wantabe fishermen fished Silver Creek for Apache Golden Trout, catching only craw-dads.  Everyone donated to the In-dian Casino and later enjoyed a Chinese dinner in Pinetop. September was one of our longer trips - going to Silver City New Mexico, stopping on the way in at Benson, Arizona and on the way home at Eagar, Arizona.  Only 3 rigs made the trip.  We toured the Gila Cliff Dwellings and saw sev-eral buck deer & turkeys on the trip.

Other days we saw the Santa Rita pit mine, City Of Rocks State Park, historic Fort Bayard, and toured old town in Silver City.  A big thanks to Bob & Barbara Burness who provided the bus (their new 4 door pick up) to haul all of us on this trip.  We tried to find a way to fish for the Gila Trout, but discov-ered there are few fishermen in Southwestern New Mexico and these fish are only stocked a long way inside the Gila National For-est.  Much time was spent repair-ing the Nichols rig, which had a clogging toilet & leaky window frame.
