Project Idea Submissions(20 points)

Project Idea Submissions are the initial checkpoint to verify that ideas meet the grading criteria and to reflect on what the outcome of the project should be. Project idea submissions must be completed before moving on to the next stage of the project. Idea submissions must include:

a) A neatly hand-written summary of what your idea for the project is, what mathematical theorems you will imbed into the drawing, and how you are going to meet the grading criteria. If you cannot write neatly, type it. These must be one full page in length. If it is illegible, or less

than one page, it will be returned ungraded.

b) A simple sketch on the back of the same paper of what your project will look like. Drawings must conform to a one, two, three, or four point linear perspective. Other forms of perspective can be used, however the main form of perspective must be one of these. The sketch need not look finished,

but it must feature the major details of your project.

Project Rough Drafts(30 points)

The project rough drafts must be a nearly complete version of your final perspective drawing. It can be done on any size of sketch paper, and as much sketch paper as you need can be provided to you in class. Keep in mind that despite this being called a rough draft, it should not look “rough”. The purpose of this checkpoint is to provide feedback to you so that potential errors or shortcomings can be corrected, and to make sure you are on track for the final project. As such, if your rough draft is of poor quality, it will be returned to you ungraded, and it will have to be fixed up or redone.

Final Perspective Drawing and Analysis

(120 points)This is the final linear perspective drawing. It

must be done on sketch quality paper no smaller than 12 inches by 14 inches. As this was a required material in the syllabus, this will not be provided (if you don't have any, don't wait till the last minute to get some). This final drawing should be of the highest quality you are capable of, and must conform to the grading rubric. Two theorems from geometry (Euclidean or Non-Euclidean) must be imbedded into the work.

To be included with the final drawing is an analysis of your final perspective drawing. It must be typed, double spaced, one inch margins, a minimum of two pages in length, 12 point font, with an emboldened title also in 12 point font with no extra spaces. Include your name and date in the header on one line with no extra spaces (see the rubric on the following page for where they should be). The analysis should

include a description of your work, what inspired you, what type of perspective(s) you used, what geometric theorems you included and where they are, what you learned from the project, as well as any other relevant details.
