Role Title: Volunteer Laundry Assistant Location: Merseyside Main contact: Caron Bohanna Suggested time Commitment: Thursday shift per week Purpose of the role: To ensure our dogs have clean and fresh blankets / bedding available by supporting our Canine Carers in carrying out tasks associated with our on-site laundry. Key responsibilities: Using the centre washing and drying machines to ensure a clean supply of bedding and blankets for our dogs at all times. To ensure that the laundry room is clean, tidy and free of clutter at all times. Operation of the laundry equipment in accordance with Dogs Trust guidelines including the clearing out of lint to prevent build up in drying machines. When quiet, to assist the Canine Carers with making up of feeds and cleaning of the kennel kitchen. To follow Dogs Trust guidance when using liquids and disinfectants in accordance with our Health & Safety policies. To report any machinery faults to your supervisor.

Be an ambassador for Dogs Trust.Be knowledgeable on the work of Dogs Trust and specifically your Rehoming Centre.

Required skills & Competencies:Excellent face to face communication skills with the ability to listen. Confident and approachable manner.Common sense approach to problem solving and a diplomatic approach.Ability to work comfortably in a close-knit team and alone, as this role may involve working on your own.Conscientious with a can-do attitude.

Ability to follow instructions.An interest in dogs and dog welfare.For this role volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

What this role will offer you:We will provide you with a main contact who will manage your tasks, answer your questions and help you with the volunteer rota. Induction and ongoing role-specific training, guidance and support as well as an opportunity to develop your current skills, and to gain new ones. We will provide a Dogs trust volunteer uniform, alongside recognition of the role that you are carrying out in support of Dogs Trust through our Volunteer Merits Scheme.
