DESIGN REPORTGlobal Context: Personal and Cultural Expression
Key Concept: CommunicationRelated Concept: Form, Function and Innovation
INTRODUCTIONBased on the Wikipedia, yearbook is a type of a book that are published annually to record, highlight and commemorate the past years of a school. For me, yearbook is a book that reminds me of my old friends and our moments.
Usually we always got a yearbook from our parents—I mean our parents design and published it for us and we only need to fill our messages, contacts and having a class picture. But for this year, our teacher gave us a task to make our own yearbook and year video so parents didn’t need to make it again for us. So, at this semester, my group need to design and make a yearbook.
Besides making a yearbook, we also need to make a report about our steps. So in this report, I’m going to write all things that I do for making our yearbook.
CRITERIA A: INQUIRING AND ANALYZING
TASK 1 - Research on all the resources needed, samples to be analyzed and find ideas to create your own yearbook and video
IDEA 1
This is the first idea that we found. We really like the concept because we need to unlock the yearbook first. The design is not that hard, we only need to add a lock and use the old theme. Even though it look simple, but I think if we create this kind of yearbook with only 6 members in a short time, it’s really hard.

IDEA 2
It’s actually not a yearbook but it’s a K-Pop album. But we like the design because we can put a little message from the teacher at the left side, in the middle we can put our year photobook and at the left side we can put the year video DVD. This yearbook is actually inspired from ‘Wreck This Book’. Even though we put ‘Wreck This Yearbook’ as the title, but we won’t wreck it. We just going to personalize our own yearbook by our self. IDEA 4For me, this yearbook is good and modern. The design is basically something that we sometimes see and the color is our daily color such as blue, pastel and stuff. CRITERIA B: DEVELOPING IDEAS
Our group member—Ayasha—has sketch with our idea that we discuss together.
Our theme is about “Unlocking The Past” and we want the design to be locker-look-a-like. This is the first design that we made.
This is the second design that we made. This design is inspired by one of BTS’s album—Skool Luv Affair—but the theme is still about “Unlocking The Past”.

CRITERIA C : CREATING THE SOLUTION
This is our final design. Even though we doesn’t use both of the design that we’ve sketched before, we still use the “Unlocking The Past” concept.
COVERThe idea that we use for the cover is a locker look-a-like. The reason why we choose locker is because usually students use locker to keep their things in school, and the function of yearbook is to keep our memories in school. So we think locker can symbolize yearbook.
CONTENTSThe first few pages will be notes from principal and also teacher. At the students pages, it will only contains student pictures, their names, their birthdate and their messages. After students data, there will be a few pages filled with our moments in school.
CRITERIA D : EVALUATINGATL SKILLS
Communication Skills – In this project, I give ideas when we start to sketch the design. Also, we communicate not only in school, but also through social media to finish our plan. But, when we’re creating the yearbook, I don’t think I give a feedback because the result is pretty good for me.
Social Skills – We use social media networks properly to build our teamwork and we work collaboratively and listen to other perspective and ideas too
Self-management Skills – Even though we collect it on time, but we did it really quick because we don’t have enough time that day. I think we need to improve more in this skills, because we don’t make planner before
Research Skills – We collect data and after got all the data we informed it to the other group members so they will see it later
Thinking Skills – We try to connect our concept into the nowadays yearbook idea, but I think we should try to think outside the box because “Unlocking The Past” concept has been used before and I think if we have a new idea it would be more better.
REFLECTIONI feel satisfied with our products result. We already did our best to create this yearbook. But, the thing that I need to improve more is time-management. I need to work faster to catch up the deadline, so I’d better to start making a planner.
