Objective: To create a “Multiples of Me” photograph To demonstrate the ability to manipulate

photographs to fit the student’s work To interpret the success of their own work

Materials needed: Cameras Computers with Photoshop Examples of work Worksheet

Overview: What is the purpose of this lesson?

Students will create a “Multiples of Me” Photograph, using digital cameras and Photoshop.

Students will view several examples of the Multiples of Me project. They will discuss as a whole group the various ideas they saw and brainstorm ideas of where and what they want to do for their projects.

Pre-Assessment: (How will you find out about where your students are at for this lesson? What will your pre-assessment look like?

Students will brainstorm different ideas that they could create on a worksheet.

Examples:

Steps in the Lesson:Include ideas for whole-class instructions, differentiated activities, guided notes/practice, independent work, engagement strategies, etc…

Day 1:  Class discussion and view examples of the project. Students will brainstorm ideas for where and what they will do for their project.

Day 2:  Students take photos for their project.

Day 3: Students will work on the computers, using Photoshop to manipulate the photos they took into one image.

Day 4:  Students will continue working on their manipulated photography.  When finished, students will complete a self-evaluation.

Day 5:  Class critique about the success of their final images.

Formative Assessment Strategies:How will you inform yourself throughout the class period the status of the students’ understanding?

Walk around the room, check for understanding by noting their progress with the lesson and answer any questions students have while they are working.

Closure Activity:This may be a chance to share, or explicit restatement of the goals of the lesson, a summarization opportunity, etc…

Students will complete a Self-Evaluation.

Post-Assessment:How will you collect and use data to inform your next lesson?

A class critique will be held to allow students to talk about their own work and the work of their classmates.
