Amy Brown – 50508657 Task 2 – Music Video
Our music video we are creating is for the song ‘Friday, I’m in Love’ by The Cure. We chose this song to create a music video for because, as a group, we all like the song which makes it easier to create something for and is a light-hearted, happy song to have a lot of fun with, when planning, filming and editing throughout. We were also all able to easily envision an idea for the video and use our creativity to the highest limit. Our original ideas included following a day in the life of a typical teenager, showing the low points of their day during the verses then the high points during the choruses. This would include scenes of the protagonist having general bad luck like missing the bus, tripping over objects and hurting themselves on boiled water while making a cup of tea, but also having the happier scenes of them meeting up with friends and being much more jovial. This would be filmed primarily in London and would’ve only taken a day to film, which makes time constraints and possible unavailability from other members of the group very unlikely. The song and location also makes it more likely for our audience to relate, as London is an extremely popular location and the song is regarded to be a classic among many with no content in the song that would regard an age rating and would reach wider audiences, especially those of all ages since the song was released in the 90s as well. Because of this, we felt like our idea for the music video was ideal in more ways than not and was not so much of a strain to plan, film and edit unlike the previous advert we had made before.
