History meets Technology

In order to help improve grades overall students will be required to complete this tutorials on different forms of technology for the second semester in Mr. Varanelli’s U.S History class. Students MUST complete this and will receive a quiz grade (under research) when it is completed. Please follow the following steps and see Mr. Varanelli if you need any assistance.

Unit 1: Class website

Step 1: Insert the URL (web address) listed in the box above. Then proceed to our class website. You should come up to the main page shown below.

Question 1: What is the quote in purple at the top right corner of the class website?

Step 2: Scroll down on the screen to where it says contact Mr. V. Fill out the contact form and put as the message “Good morning Mr. V!” Make sure you put the email that you want to be reached at.

Step 3: Go back to the top of the page and in the right hand corner place your mouse of “More” When the dropdown menu comes down click on American Icon Series.

Step 4: When you get to the American Icon page scroll down and notice all of the buttons with famous people. Each of these buttons will load an American Icon sheet. Every sheet is available for download on this website! Scroll down until you see the button labeled “Henry Ford”. Click the link and the Henry Ford Worksheet should load. Print the worksheet out and complete it for a grade.

Step 5: Go back to the top of the screen and once again put your mouse over “More” This time click on “Unit 2: Two World Wars and a Depression” This will link you to a page with each chapter from the Unit. Click on “Chapter 20/21: The Roarin 20’s”

Step 6: On the page for chapter 20/21: The Roarin 20’s you will see the title of the chapter and a picture. Next to the picture you will see the focus questions for the chapter. Please list the three questions for these chapters below.

Step 7: Scroll down on the page to find the button “Chapter 20 Prohibition, Crime and” click it and download the PowerPoint that goes along with it. Go to the third slide and write down the first sentence that is on it in the box below.

Step 8: Once again go back to the top right corner and put your mouse over where it says “More”. This time click on Operation: Earn that Credit. Be sure to read the page to understand how this program will work. Then click on button on the bottom of the screen titled “Operation: Earn that Credit”. Print out the three sheets that open when you click the button.

Step 9: Make sure to sign up for Remind either with your phone or email. A password will be sent out using remind which you will need to write in the box below.

Step 10:

On your Smartphone download the free app scan from your phone. Once the app is downloaded open it and allow access to your camera. From there point your phone towards the QR code below. This should bring you to the class website. Then scan the second QR code and in the box below write down what website it brings you to.

Have to options. The first is to download the free app onto your phone. The second is to access it through a computer. Either way you will need to enter your code to sign up.
