Hello and I hope everyone is in keeping well. As we are off next week I have set out some more school work for you to continue with at home. Note: Complete work as best you can and do not worry if you get stuck in any area. Just skip on to the next thing and do your best in each topic area! That will be enough! There is also an art lesson and a music lesson after the Friday lesson. In relation to PE, Ms Healy has put together an active schools whole school PE programme which can be found on the Active School Flag section of our website. As you probably know already RTE have 10@10 exercise routines available which you can complete at home. You may have used these in the past or may be already using them during this time off which is great. The link is below for anyone who hasn’t used it yet. https://rtejr.rte.ie/10at10/ Look after yourselves, Mr Hayden.

TuesdayMaths: 3D Shapes continued.

Today we are continuing to look at 3D Shapes. From yesterdays lesson, video and the extra activity we know that 3D shapes are all around us. Today we’re going to revise the 3D shapes we looked at yesterday.

Try the exercise below to help revise yesterdays lesson. You can label each shape across from left to right, 1 to 5 starting with the red shape in your copy and write the answer beside the number.

Try to find some 3D shapes at home like the five shapes above if possible. You are now going to look at each shape and decide on its features/properties (for example, does it roll, does it slide, does it stack).

Maths: 3D continued…

Yesterday we learned about the features/properties of the five 3D shapes we are talking about in this chapter.

Tip: Thinks of the different 3D shapes we’ve looked at and try to have a picture beside you for this lesson or go back to previous days lessons if you’re not sure.

Today we will look at faces, edges and corners(sometimes called vertex) and complete an activity to learn to identify on a 3D shape where each feature is located and see that on some shapes you may not have a corner.

So we have the edge, the face and the corner(vertex) as shown in th diagram. Try to remember these three words and where they are on the 3D shape.

Now we will look at the five 3D shapes in this chapter and fill in table in your copy from the information below. Hint – the 2D shapes column is asking is there any 2D shapes that make up the 3D shapes. Tick yes in that column if you think there are 2D shapes in the 3D shape.

Try to have some 3D shapes from around the house if possible to help you.

Art –

For this lesson, we will design or make an Easter bonnet.

If there isn’t the facility to print the designs, the outline of the hat can be drawn and then coloured in with designs based on the ideas on the last page of this lesson and/or with other designs you may wish to add yourself.

If you can print, you can print the first two templated and colour and design you own hat/bonnet.

You can also make your own hat by printing out and cutting the top of the hat and base of hat templates and gluing the tabs as appropriate and cutting the designs below or making your own designs.

Enjoy whichever you choose.
