Professional and peer networks providing introductions to potential partners, customers, donors & investors. Events featuring prominent figures from the entrepreneurial and creative sectors. 3. How to apply Criteria for Applications

Selection Criteria Applicants will be selected onto the Scheme through assessment of how their application fulfils the following criteria:

strength of concept business readiness quality of applicant, and business partners (where applicable) investment potential artistic quality (note: this criterion is only applicable if your company has a performance

element)

Application ProcessComplete a Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs application pack, and submit it together with the lead applicant’s CV (and optional business plan) to [email protected] by 5pm on 25 June 2018.Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with course leaders on 4 & 12 July 2018.

FeesThe 2018/2019 fee for the Scheme is £3100. Guildhall alumni are eligible for a 50% discount, resulting in a fee of £1550.

Flexible payment option:

As we are aware of the financial challenges faced by start-ups, Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs offers a flexible payment option (not applicable to concessionary rates). Fees will need to be paid in two installments of £1550 each.

CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THECREATIVE ENTREPRENUERS SCHEME RUN BY THE

GUILDHALL SCHOOL OF MUSIC & DRAMA AND CAUSE4

1. SCOPE

The scope and purpose of this document is to establish an understanding of the arrangement between the Applicant and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (THE SCHOOL) specifically with regard to participation in activities of the Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs Programme (the Scheme).

2. CONDITIONS

2.1 By applying to participate in the Scheme the Applicant agrees to abide by the conditions hereto which conditions are deemed to include:

a. Completed Application Packb. Application Information Document;copies of all which documents the Applicant has been supplied with.

2.2 These conditions become effective upon the date of acceptance of the Applicant into the Scheme by THE SCHOOL and will continue throughout the period of the Applicants participation in the Scheme.

2.3 These conditions may be reviewed by THE SCHOOL at its discretion following consultation with and notice to all Applicants.

2.4 Unless otherwise defined, all terms used within these conditions shall be determined to have the meaning which is commonly attributed to them in the English language.

3. APPLICATION

3.1 The Applicant is applying to and thereby agreeing to take part in the Scheme over a 12 month period from September 2018 through to August 2019 in order that the development of, fundraising for and implementation of his/her creative enterprise/business (business) can be supported by THE SCHOOL and Cause4.

3.2 The Scheme will operate in conjunction with Cause4 a consultancy company in partnership with THE SCHOOL and will be led by Michelle Wright, CEO of Cause4 and for the THE SCHOOL by Professor Helena Gaunt and Sian Brittain Head of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or their successors.

3.3 The Applicant must have enrolled at the commencement of the Scheme. If the Applicant fails to complete the enrolment process including supplying identification (passport/UK birth certificate/UK driving licence) and any other required documentation for themselves including any business partners/associates of theirs who are to participate in the Scheme, the Application will be cancelled.

3.4 THE SCHOOL and Cause4 will use their best endeavours to ensure that their partnership achieves the following purposes:

3.4.1 To deliver a high-quality 12 month Scheme of workshops and seminar activity, including access to coaching, business planning, and marketing, funding and sales advice;

3.4.2 To provide access to office space (including Wi-Fi) at Cause4 offices 1 Gun House, Artillery Passage, London, E1 7LJ - on every Monday and Tuesday for the 12-month period;

3.4.3 To support the Applicant’s ongoing development of and fundraising potential for their business during the 12-month period.

3.5 The Applicant will provide an update to THE SCHOOL on their progress within the Scheme as part of the 3-month, 6-month and 9-month progress meetings, including, but not limited to:3.5.1.1 Progress of their business idea;

3.5.1.2 Evaluation of the effectiveness of the Scheme and training delivered;

3.5.1.3 Development of new ideas to support the Scheme’s development for future years;

3.5.1.4 Act as ambassador/supporter for the Scheme as a Creative Entrepreneur Scheme Alumnus/and join the mentor Scheme.

Additionally, the Applicant will:

3.5.2 Contribute at least 20 hours a week to the Scheme, prioritising growth and business planning and the training schedule.

3.5.3 Attend all compulsory Scheme elements, including but not limited to; the Business Planning Boot Camp, training seminars and workshops, business planning 1-1s and structured supervision sessions.

3.5.4 Engage positively with the other entrepreneurs on the Scheme, creating a circle of critical friends and an ethos of peer-led learning: including but not limited to regular participation in action learning sets.

3.5.5 Deliver business plan drafts and relevant pieces of work to deadline, as agreed with Scheme leaders.

3.5.6 Respect Cause4 policies and procedures whilst taking part in activities at host offices 1 Gun House, Artillery Passage, London, E1 7LJ.

3.5.7 Respect THE SCHOOL’s policies and procedures whilst taking part in activities on campus at THE SCHOOL and any of its premises.

3.6 The Applicant undertakes to advocate for the Scheme’s ongoing development and to be part of media and other communications activity to support its future implementation and where appropriate to take part in other activities outlined by THE SCHOOL to support the effective promotion of the Scheme.

3.7 The Applicant agrees to include reference to the Scheme on their business publicity materials during the 12-month period as follows: ‘supported by Guildhall Creative Entrepreneurs, a division of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama’. This includes the following platforms: The Applicant company’s website, flyers, brochures, and all digital and printed press.

3.8 If THE SCHOOL is referenced in said business publicity materials, the Applicant agrees to make sure their enterprise has adequate processes and procedures for ensuring good customer service and handling customer complaints to protect THE SCHOOL from potential reputational damage. If said business fails to provide good customer service, THE SCHOOL can withdraw said business right to feature the Guildhall brand or to publicise any affiliations with the Scheme.

3.9 Neither party shall do anything which brings or is reasonably likely to bring any other party’s reputation into disrepute

4. FEES

4.1 The fee for the scheme is as set out in the details of scheme document, which forms part of these conditions; all outstanding fees must be paid in full by the designated deadlines. THE SCHOOL reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a place or opt for immediate termination of the Applicant from the Scheme, if any outstanding fees are not paid by the designated deadline.

4.1.1 If written notification of cancellation is received no later than 10 working days before the Scheme’s start date, fees will be refunded as paid, minus a 20% cancellation fee (unless this falls within the 10 working days cooling period). The cancellation fee amount is to be calculated as a percentage of the fee payable to the Scheme in full for the designated 12-month period, regardless of the amount paid by the Applicant to date. The cancellation fee will be recoverable as a debt.

4.1.2 If the Applicant wishes to cancel his/her place after the Scheme has started he/she must notify THE SCHOOL in writing but will not be eligible for any refund unless a satisfactory medical certificate proving inability to attend is produced.

4.1.3 If the Applicant fails to comply with any of the conditions herein including satisfactory fulfilment of payment and attendance requirements, THE SCHOOL reserves the right to terminate the Applicant from the Scheme without any prior notice. In event of such termination, no refund or cancellation penalty will be payable to the Applicant.

5. CONFIDENTIALITY

5.1 Each party undertakes that it shall not disclose to any person any confidential information concerning the business, affairs, plans, strategy customers, clients or suppliers of the other party. Sharing of the Applicant’s involvement with the Scheme may sometimes be required for funding or development purposes. This information will be discussed in full with the Applicant in advance.

5.2Where appropriate the progress of each business will be shared with Guildhall School and Cause4 staff or nominated partners such as PR agencies working to promote the scheme.

5.3 No party shall use any other party's confidential information for any purpose other than to perform its obligations herein.

6. GENERAL

6.1 The Applicant confirms that all information provided to THE SCHOOL is correct. THE SCHOOL reserves the right to review the Applicants involvement in the Scheme should any statements made by the Applicant be found to be incorrect.

6.2 If a dispute arises as a result of application or compliance or otherwise of these conditions such shall be referred initially to Sian Brittain, Head of Enterprise who will facilitate where necessary independent negotiation or mediation.

6.3 The Applicant shall not make, nor permit any person to make, any public announcement concerning these conditions or details of the Scheme without the prior written consent of THE SCHOOL (such consent not to be unreasonably withheld or delayed), except as required by law, any governmental or regulatory authority (including, without limitation, any relevant securities exchange), any court or other authority of competent jurisdiction.

6.4 At all times, the Applicant will abide and conform to any disciplinary regulations concerning bringing THE SCHOOL into disrepute or disruptive behaviour on THE

SCHOOL or Cause4 premises or damage to property or unacceptable behaviour towards other participants.

6.5 Where an Applicant is attending the Scheme under a visa sponsorship scheme such Applicant must comply in all respects with and fully co-operate with the monitoring requirements of that sponsorship arrangement.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR)

7.1 'Intellectual Property Rights' (IPR) means all copyright and other intellectual property rights, howsoever arising and in whatever media, whether or not registered, including (without limitation) patents, trademarks, trade names, design rights, registered designs, database rights, performers’ rights of any nature, moral rights of any nature, rights in respect of confidential information, rights in respect of privacy, rights in respect of image, character or personality of any nature, rights in respect of passing off or any form of unfair competition in any part of the world and any applications for the protection or registration of these rights and all renewals and extensions thereof throughout the world together with any and all rights of action in connection with the same.

7.2 All Intellectual Property Rights existing and howsoever created by THE SCHOOL and/or Cause4 for the purposes of the Scheme shall remain the property of THE SCHOOL and/or Cause4. A non-exclusive royalty free Licence is hereby granted to Applicants by THE SCHOOL and Cause4 to use such IPR strictly for the purposes of participating in, and for the duration of, the Scheme.

7.3 Where either the Applicant, THE SCHOOL or Cause4 has provided each or any other with any of its intellectual property rights for use in connection with the Scheme, the other party shall, on completion of the Scheme or termination of the Application, cease to use such Intellectual Property Rights immediately.

7.4 Where IPR are created by the Applicant both within and without the Scheme such shall remain in the ownership of the Applicant.

7.5 The Applicant shall at all times during the Scheme implement his/her tasks in accordance with these conditions and shall bear sole responsibility for ensuring that he/she acts within the Scheme and does not knowingly infringe any third-party rights.

8. DATA PROTECTION

8.1 THE SCHOOL is a department of the City of London Corporation (the City). Personal data supplied by an Applicant will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. The management of data is governed by the City‘s Data Protection Policy which is available through the Town Clerk’s Department, Guildhall, London. The City is bound by the Data Protection Act, which means that the City cannot discuss details of your application with anyone else unless you give your permission. The Applicant will do nothing to cause the City or THE SCHOOL to fail in its obligations under the Data Protection Act or the freedom of Information Act.

8.2 The Applicant agrees that THE SCHOOL may process personal data contained in the application form, or other data which THE SCHOOL may obtain from you or other people, for purposes connected with your studies, health and safety or for any other legitimate reason.

8.3 If the Applicant opts to receive marketing information then the Applicant’s data will be used for marketing and communication purposes specific to the Applicant’s area of interest. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to object to the use of your data for marketing purposes at any time. All data collected is securely held by the THE SCHOOL and our nominated partners supporting the work of the School including Cause4 and will be treated confidentially and with sensitivity.

8.4 To comply with statutory and Government requirements, data may be disclosed to external agencies.

8.5 Photographs, videos or other audio-visual material taken during the course of the Scheme may be used by the THE SCHOOL for marketing purposes including in its prospectus, events brochures and website.

8.6 Any personal photographs or video recordings taken during the Scheme are strictly for private use and must not, under any circumstances, be posted on the internet or be used publicly in any way.
