1. Explain how effective your group was in impacting the community. Use evidence from your community event and from your Social Media in your response.

I believe our group was considerably effective and I think we made a significant impact in the community. We planned for our event, gathered our materials, and were ready to go on Sunday. We set up our booth just like we planned for and painted the faces of over twenty people. This beat all expectations, as we were expecting less than ten. The weather was nice and the wind only slightly chilly. All in all, I believe our event was a perfect example of the group dynamic we’ve had all along and it represented our project wonderfully. As for our social media, I believe we did all we could do to get the word out there. We posted on wordpress many times, with all of our blogs, and on twitter a considerable amount as well. Judging from the turnout we saw at the event I would say we did a good job advertising. With all of this said, I have to conclude that we impacted the community in a positive way and

made a pretty good ripple.

2. One of the goals in doing this group project (just like any group-work assignment) is to help you develop effective

I have always had a knack for leading. I always stepped up in class and people always listened to me. I was always the leader of the group or the captain of the team. This project was no different from the rest of my life. I accredit the refinement of my leadership skills to Sargent McClure

teamwork skills, which are required for practically any job you might do in the future.

however. In class, he saw something in me and taught me how to be a leader. He taught me how to take charge of a situation and be the one making the calls. I applied this to our group and I was able to ensure we got all of our work done. Was I always nice or happy? No I was not but I

was effective as a leader.

3. Discuss your group’s overall success or struggles in working as a team.

A. How well did your team function?

Some days were harder than others but we always got our stuff done and worked our hardest. Some days we were at each other's throats and others we were like brothers and sisters. I believe our team functioned

very well together.

B. How willing were you to support your team members, when needed?

I was considerably willing to help them considering my responsibilities and my personal life at the time of all the group work happening. Did I help all of them every time they needed it? No but I helped far more than

I was obligated to.

C. How much support did you receive from your team members?

I didn’t need much support from them. I handled the group commander position in ROTC as a junior, the first in school history. The group commander is in charge of the whole corps and is not to be taken lightly. It is a very busy job to undertake. I handled this small group of four and myself with no problem.

D. How might you have changed the roles/duties to be more effective?

I wouldn’t change the roles. The roles were picked to perfection. If you wanted the project to be more effective you should’ve changed the parameters that were set forth for the project. We were restricted far too much for us to achieve greatness and change the world. I honestly believe we would've done great things, if there were less stipulations.

Just a thought for next year.

4. What obstacles did your team face (aside from any teamwork obstacles discussed above) in trying to reach your goals?

Our original idea was shot down from the beginning because we all needed to be 18 to participate in the event. We also had a hard time trying to pick a new event because you wouldn’t let us do anything till

you thought it was good.

A. How effective was your team in overcoming these obstacles?

We did our best to hop over these obstacles but we were slowed down at times. This did not stop us from achieving our goal however.

5. Imagine yourself organizing another community service event.

A. Which parts of this project worked well, that you would use again?

The small group dynamic works really well I think. Not only did we accomplish all of our goals, I had a lot of fun along the way.

B. Which parts of this project did not go well, that you would change?

The stipulations that we were given have to go away if you want this to be successful.

6. What was your specific role in the project?

My role was the facilitator. My duties were to ensure the focus of the group was fine tuned and we were successful.

a. How effective were you in completing the assigned duties of that role?

I believe I achieved everything that was asked of my position and of me. I performed all of my duties to the fullest of my ability and we were successful as a group.

b. What might you have done differently that could have significantly impacted your group’s success?

I could have been a little more involved. I didn’t feel very attached to the project because of all the stipulations. If we actually would’ve visited the kids the project would have been better.
