is it an evolving magazine that recognizes fresh talent.

Vineet Vohra’s street photography tends to highlight the society and his environment in its raw

state. His work tends to capture the life or the lack thereof within his geological location at the

time. His approach is more like highlighting the Indian culture and specific traditions with a

blend of various camera angles and perspectives applied to make the photo come to life. Many of

his displays highlights the ‘norms’ and ‘accustomed patterns’ within the Indian society. There

are particular examples of his work that caught my attention reflecting the religious/sacred aspect

of the Indian culture. These highlighted women in the society who have shaved their heads and

‘washed’ their sins away in the Holy ganges river. One of his photos highlighted a tradition

which involves persons throwing money into a particular river while praying, for goodluck.

Another photo in his collection that got my attention was one which reflected the ‘norm’ as

shaving and selling females hair in india.

“I saw this girl who got really agitated on why her head was getting shaved ,the mother said that the barber uncle is paying for her hair & she can buy herself a doll ,I was all ears to this entire conversation & when the barber decided to console her by acting out that he is paying money to her she had THAT look in her eye, this happened on the banks of ganges in varanasi where it's a ritual to get heads shaved for religious reasons “ Vineet Vohra

“Lot of devotees comes to visit benaras(Varanasi), a sacred place in India to worship the holy river Ganges ,devotees consider it good luck to throw coins into river Ganga while offering prayers and this benevolence has proved to be especially beneficial for the slum children living nearby. These kids frequent the river everyday to collect the coins, they throw a string with magnet attached at one end and attracts the coins to make some easy money.” Vineet Vohra
