MISSISSIPPI NATIONAL BAPTIST STATE CONVENTIONDR. KENNETH M. DAVIS, PRESIDENT

Dr. Michael Kelly, General Secretary

Dear Pastors,

Praise the Lord my brethren. Praise the Lord! Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord. It is with great expectancy and much joy in the Lord that I write this letter. I pray that you share the same level of expectant joy.

We are embarking on a great and dynamic journey. It is a journey that will challenge each and every one of us. It is a challenge that will test our ingenuity and creative ability. It is a challenge that if successful will redefine the relevancy of ministries as the same impacts our local communities and the State wherein we live.

Part of the State Convention’s goals and objectives is to make our ministries more relevant to the youth of our various congregations. This younger generation represents our future. To ignore the problems that they face and to further fail to develop and implement solutions to the same is liken to a slow death resulting from a self-inflicted wound. We are losing far too many of our youth to an unfair and racially motivated criminal justice system, teen pregnancies, the legions of high school dropouts and those infected with the HIV virus and so forth. We must reverse these ungodly trends. But reversing the same will not happen by itself. It will only come about through the tireless hard work of responsible men and women who care to make a difference.

Rev. Eric Dickey as Youth Director, Dr. Jaymar Jackson as the Assistant Director and Pastoral Advisor Ron Regan together have proven over the years to be men capable of overcoming tremendous odds and successfully addressing societal ills such as those affecting our youth. This is an enormous responsibility. Their success and ultimately the welfare of our children are not altogether depended on the two of them, but on the support, they receive from pastors like you. Along with our Youth President, fellow youth officers and youth, they need your support.

Therefore, I personally ask you to promote the youth division of the State Convention. Encourage and demand that your youth sign up for and participate in the activities, workshops and meetings that are scheduled for the youth throughout the year. And when Rev. Regan, Rev. Jackson and Rev. Dickey suggest implementation of a proposed plan of action, I ask you to please commit to it wholeheartedly and assign your best people to its oversight within your local congregation.

We have no time to lose. Let us commit today to doing all we can to rescue and restore our youth in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you for your courtesy and commitment.

The Resurrection is Truth,

Kenneth M. Davis3

Dear Moderators and Pastors:

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is with great anticipation and excitement to welcome to the Mississippi National Baptist State Convention to the city of Hattiesburg, where Rev. Arthur Siggers, serves as Host-Pastor. Your youth staff and officers are enthusiastically awaiting your arrival this June 8-10, 2020 in Hattiesburg, MS. Together, we welcome the many Churches and Associations to this upcoming Youth Convention. In this State Youth Convention, youth from all ages will engage into a learning, Worship and fun experience.

Pastors and Moderators, last year was an unprecedented, unpredictable and unimaginable attendance so therefore, I wish to personally thank each of you for your support in our endeavor to enhance, enrich and enlighten your youth. With the program outlined for this year convention, your youth will engage in Choir, band, praise dancing, mime, Bible Activities and Worship Services. Further, we will be featured with guest preachers, seminars and college career just a few to mention.

Finally, we value your youth to ensuring that they will receive the knowledge of our Risen Savior Jesus Christ. Our staff will uniquely embrace the responsibility to help guide and direct our youth in the direction that God would have them to go. Youth, SHARE Jesus! Remember, we are depending upon each of you to make our future on earth great and grand.

In Him is Truth,

Dear Constituencies:

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am so excited about our Mississippi National Baptist State Convention and what God is about to do through us. Proverbs 22:6 states, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. The goal of our Youth Advisory team is to do just that. We want to shape and mold our children with the Word of God, that when it is time to make decisions in life, they know which way to go. As a mentor in the Hattiesburg Public School District, I have noticed that so many of our children just want someone to believe in them. We as the church should teach our children that they can do all things through Christ.

We are so excited about the Youth State Convention upcoming session in June, and I am looking forward to working with all of the youth leaders of each church, as we strive together in Christ showing our youth the way to a blessed and prosperous life.

Yours In Christ,

Ron C. ReganPastor Ron C. ReganMNBSC Youth Advisor

To My Fellow Youth:

“Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Let me begin by saying, I am so thankful for God placing favor over my life and given me the chance to serve as your new State Convention Youth President. My upbringing began at my home church, Mt. Wade Missionary Baptist Church of Brookhaven, MS, where my Pastor is Dr. Randolph Hamilton. Currently, I am a student at Mississippi College majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Servant Leadership, Clinton, MS. Getting an education is a must in my home and is stress by my parents that I also continue to develop in my Christian Education.

I continue to bring to our State Youth Convention the experience of having served as the Past Youth President in my home Church. As an Associate Minister of the Mt. Wade, I am involved in the Lincoln County Ministerial Alliance as the Assistant Secretary and Media Person. God has and continues to bless me in those ministries. For, there is no doubt that He will bless me as your Youth President. As long as He guides me as He always does, then I am sure we will have a great and exciting time together.

Finally, I am requesting each Church in our State Convention to place on your calendar to be at the Mississippi National Baptist State Youth Convention in Hattiesburg, MS, for our Convention. President Kenneth Davis and I are looking forward to meeting everyone at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.

Sincerely,

Reverend Davion BrownRev. Davion BrownState Youth President
