*HYMN OF THE DAY

NICENE CREED

A: With the whole church, let us confess our faith.

We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,

the only Son of God,

eternally begotten of the Father,

God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,

of one Being with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation

he came down from heaven,

was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary

and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the scriptures;

he ascended into heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead

and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

who proceeds from the Father and the Son,

With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified,

he has spoken through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.

We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

( + ) We look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE PRAYERS AND INTERCESSIONS

A: Let us pray for the whole people of God in Christ Jesus, and for all people according to their needs.

A BRIEF SILENCE.

A: Loving and gracious God, we pray for the Church throughout all the world, redeemed by the precious blood of your Son: guard her faith, sustain her hope, strengthen her in love and service to the whole human family.

A: Lord, in your mercy: C: Hear our prayer.

A: We pray for Elizabeth, our Presiding Bishop, for Laura, the Bishop-elect of our Synod, for our Parish and all our congregations and pastors, and for all Christian leaders around the world.

A: Lord, in your mercy: C: Hear our prayer.

A: We pray for our President and all the leaders of the nations; for peace and understanding to prevail over war, bloodshed, and strife; for an end to terrorism and sectarian violence; for peace and safety in the streets of our cities; for all who work to save the earth from carelessness and destruction.

A: Lord, in your mercy: C: Hear our prayer.

A: Remember, Lord, those in need, especially the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, and those suffering from any form of abuse; those who suffer from disasters, natural or manmade; strengthen our hands and hearts to give help where help is needed.

A: Lord, in your mercy: C: Hear our prayer.

A: We pray for those sick in body, mind, or spirit; and for all our special needs and concerns, whether spoken aloud or in silence…(the people may add their petitions)…

A: Lord, in your mercy: C: Hear our prayer.

A: We remember before you, O Lord, all who have gone before us in faith, and are now at rest in you; and we pray that we may share with them in the glory of your eternal kingdom.

A: Lord, in your mercy: C: Hear our prayer.

Let us pray also for the forgiveness of our sins.

C: Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father: in your compassion forgive us our sins, known and unknown, things done and left undone; and so uphold us by your Spirit that we may live and serve you in newness of life, to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
