Lion’s Den 9-12 Newsletter January 20, 2018 As I begin to join you on this journey through your education a few thoughts come to mind. Unfortunately many teenagers use adolescence as an excuse to be lazy and irresponsible, I’d like to make sure we have a more productive mindset. Especially in grades 9-12, consider yourself sitting in the cockpit of a rocketship waiting on the launch pad. These years are your time at the fueling station. The higher quality octane and more fuel you pump into your rocketship, the further you will go. If you achieve a higher grade point average, engage in rigorous coursework, and prepare yourself for college entrance exams you will fly higher and farther than taking the easy route. You may not know at this point in time where you want the journey to take you, but you will want as many pathways of opportunity open as possible. God has big plans for you, but He needs you fueled up and ready to go. For further motivation I highly recommend the book “Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations” by Alex and Brett Harris. You will recognize some of my insight as inspired by their work and ideas.

The higher quality octane and more fuel you pump into your rocketship, the further you will go. If you achieve a higher grade point average, engage in rigorous coursework, and prepare yourself for college entrance exams you will fly higher and farther than taking the easy route. I am on campus every Tuesday from 3-4. Please stop by and say hello, I would love to get to know you and put faces with names. My office is behind Mrs. Boyd. I’ve attached my picture so you can put my face with my name (and Stella). I’m looking forward to helping guide you to a bright future.
