A Lion’s Guide to social media Facebook and beyond…
Types of Social Media
Statistics: Nielsen 2012
1) Go to www.facebook.com
2) Make sure you use a unique email address (you can only use an email address once to
create a profile, no more than one per address)
3) Select a password you can remember, but not too easy – fraudulent access to Facebook
is common with poorly secured accounts
• Many companies and organizations now use Facebook pages instead
of creating their own websites, or as another way to connect with
the people who use their services.
• A Facebook page allows you to post basic information about your
organization on Facebook. Once you've created a page, you can
then invite people to like the page and share posts and updates
with them. Anyone who likes the page can also leave reviews, ask
questions, and more.
• This part of Facebook is managed from a profile, or multiple
profiles. For example, the Lions District 201V5 Facebook page has
at least three people who act as administrators and manage the
content on the page.
Making the most of social media….
- Make sure you link your websites and social media pages!
People want to a) see what kind of community you are a part of (and how
you interact with it in an online forum) as well as have somewhere to go
for more specific information.
A good, well connected online presence is of paramount importance to
engage modern society – individuals, businesses, and communities, locally
and globally.
