1) Sixteen years old2) Almost every day in summer3) He can jump off a ramp and do 180 degree jumps.4) Almost US$ 150.5) Snowboarding and waterskiing.6) Because they have the best snake boarders there.

Snakeboard boyThis week we meet Javier Cordero from Montevideo. Javier is sixteen and snakeboarding is his current passion. What is a snake board?A snake board is a skateboard cut in half and joined in the middle with a strap. You move like a snake. You twist your feet in and out and swing your arms from side to side. Snake boarding is a bit like skateboarding but it’s more fun!

Where and how often do you go snakeboarding?I usually go to a skatepark in Kibon, near Pocitos Beach. I go almost every day in the summer but only twice a week in winter. How good are you?I’m pretty good now. My dad videos me and then I watch myself. I can do tricks now. I can jump off a ramp and I can do 180 degree turns. Is it an expensive sport? It certainly isn’t cheap. An average board costs about US$ 150, but I want a new board which costs about US$ 200. And then you need knee-guards and a helmet, so it’s quite expensive in the end. What other sports do you like?I like snowboarding and waterskiing. I like anything outdoors. What’s your ambition?Of course my dream is to be the Uruguayan snake board champion, but apart from that, I really want to go to the USA because they have the best snake boarders there.15) ListenListen and choose the correct answer.

The essential thing is not to conquer but to fight well’ Pierre de Frèdy, Baron de Coubertin

The aims of Olympism are to improve the human race not only physically but to give it a great nobility of spirit, and to strengthen understanding and friendship among people. The five interlocking rings of the Olympic flag aim to reflect the ideal of brotherhood and peace. The blue, yellow, black, green and red represent the five parts of the world joined together in the Olympic movement.

The Olympic Games take place every four years in different countries around the world. There are two Olympic sports events: The Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics. In the former, representatives of 28 sports participate, including archery, baseball, football, sailing, gymnastics, hockey and swimming. The latter, includes only 7 sports: biathlon, curling, skiing, ice hockey, bobsleigh, luge and skating.
