Teacher Professional Development Session #3 On Wednesday, November 18 th , the school will be closed due to our third out of five teacher professional development days for the year. Dear Parents/Guardians,

There are few items that we need to communicate to you prior to next week’s newsletter.

Teacher Professional Development Session #3

On Wednesday, November 18th, the school will be closed due to our third out of five teacher professional development days for the year. We have been given the opportunity to have a very knowledgeable facilitator present to our staff in the area of literacy. This is one of our main focus goals for this year and we want to implement our strategies as soon as possible.

Halloween Walk

On Tuesday, October 27th, our school will be participating in a Spooktacular Walk around our community, weather permitting. We will travel the same route as the Terry Fox Walk; permission slips have already been signed at the beginning of the year. Parents/guardians are welcomed and encouraged to join us. We would like for everyone to wear orange or black. Please check our web site www.hfsparadise.com, as we’ll have an announcement posted by 10:30 as to the status of the walk. If it does not go ahead on Tuesday, we will attempt it on Wednesday or Thursday. It will not go ahead on Friday.

Halloween Activities on Friday, October 30 th

The entire school community is excited about Friday, October 30th! We will keep a regular schedule in the morning, with the afternoon dedicated to classroom activities (with the exception of a.m. Kindergarten – teachers will communicate later).

A few safety reminders:

-Children should not put on their costumes until after lunch. Classroom teachers will inform students about this.

-We do not permit make-up, as many of the students are unable to apply it independently and the washroom facilities are not available to accommodate this. If a parent chooses to take a child home at lunch time to do this, please check in at the office and notify your child’s teacher.

-Please remind your child of the regular Halloween safety tips (i.e. costumes with a tripping risk, wearing masks that do not permit them to see properly, weapon-like props are not permitted, etc.).

-Due to allergy concerns, we will not be accepting treats from parents to hand out to the class. Students can bring an individual allergen-free party snack.
