FERN APPLIQUE TEMPLATEMATERIALS

• Fern template, right• Freezer paper• Pencil• Scissors• Iron• Wool felt in assorted greens

• Linen or cotton canvas

• Oval canvas frame (about 9"×12" if printing template at 100 percent)

• Pins or fabric glue stick

• Staple gun• Embroidery needle• Embroidery floss in colors to match felt

INSTRUCTIONS1 Print the fern template.2 Trace template onto nonshiny side of freezer paper.3 Cut out each piece of the template and iron shiny side down onto the various colors of felt. Cut

out pieces and remove freezer paper. 4 Cut out a piece of linen or cotton canvas so that it is large enough to wrap to the back of the frame.5 Arrange felt pieces on canvas as shown, above, pinning or adhering with a fabric glue stick.

6 Stretch fabric onto frame; staple to back.7 Thread needle with three strands of embroidery floss, matching floss to the color of the felt. 8 Whipstitch each felt piece onto the canvas, keeping stitches tiny. Repeat to complete.
