We’re here to support secondary schools in Western Australia
Mathletics has now powered further into Secondary with rigorous curriculum content, outcome reporting and a set of resources for older students second to none. It now has one of the most comprehensive student and teacher consoles
of any online mathematics product on the market.

• Mathletics has an extensive array of Australian Curriculum aligned activities for each year group.
• Students are continuously challenged in each area and questions become progressively harder, as they begin to master the topic.
• Activities have a range of help options available. All have an interactive demonstration for easier, medium and hard questions.
• Video support is available on most activities, some with both conceptual and activity help.
• Students have the ability to extend themselves further, or try something easier if they are struggling with a concept.
Activities
• Students have access to 24 NAPLAN style online assessments.• Prepares students for exams and eliminates anxiety.• Once an online test is completed, it is automatically marked
and areas of weakness are analysed. Activities are automatically recommended based on weaknesses and can be accessed in a single click.
Test Prep – Revolutionary new self-assessment tool
• Library of videos built into topics.• Topics have two videos, both concept and activity.• Concept shows the idea behind the activity, as well as real life
applications. Whilst the activity video demonstrates the step by step approach to solve the problem.
• Uniquely designed with animation and delivered by a student, this helps with engagement and retention.
• Video can be used for teacher demonstration on IWB or by students for help and revision.

Our Secondary Mathletics courses for the Australian CurriculumAligned. Prepared. Ready.
These are the years to develop a strong foundation in mathematical learning, in order to set students on the right path.• Extra support for more difficult subjects. For example Algebra is
one of the most challenging topics to teach at this level so we have provided you with an extensive array of adaptive activities, videos, eBooks, interactives and embedded questions in Live Mathletics.
• Courses can be specially aligned to your mathematics textbook.• Videos for teachers to help demonstrate difficult concepts.
Year 7 & 8
Can be the most challenging years of all for keeping students focused and engaged.• Extra support for more difficult subjects. For example Trigonometry
and Equations are often the most challenging topics to teach at this level, so we have provided you with a huge range of activities, videos, eBooks, GeoGebra and exam preparation books.
• An assortment of student tools are available to motivate students and accommodate the switch to more independent learning which often happens during these years.
• Courses can be specially aligned to your mathematics textbook.

Can Mathletics be used in replacement of a textbook?• Yes, Mathletics has its own high quality books for every mathematics topic in each year group. The books
use a knowledge-application-reasoning scaffold.• Mathletics offers a plethora of curriculum aligned activities, videos, interactive manipulatives, exam
books, Live Mathletics, diagnostic assessment and reporting tools. • It is a cost-effective solution, considering textbooks cost more than a year’s subscription to Mathletics.• Textbooks do not provide the vast array of resources and tools that Mathletics does, in one convenient
platform.• Online textbooks can only be used on one computer due to licencing issues, unlike Mathletics.• Mathletics is continually updating curriculum content and is able to map to existing texts.• Mathletics curriculum activities are now available offline - for up to 2 weeks at a time - on tablet devices
such as iPad and Android.
What if we cannot afford Mathletics in our school budget?• As detailed above, Mathletics costs considerably less than a textbook, whilst delivering a huge amount of
additional resources within one program. • Mathletics represents a fundamental improvement in affordability, access and quality of education.
We have a textbook with an online program, why do we need Mathletics?• Mathletics provides more resources than a textbook and their online programs combined. • In the Mathletics Student Console, students have everything they need at their fingertips.
For example, a student studying Algebra has an extensive array of online activities mapped to the curriculum, Algebra eBooks, concept and activity videos, virtual manipulatives, Live Mathletics and exam preparation books.
• There is no online textbook program which provides this extensive range of resources. • Generally, other online programs focus only on virtual manipulatives, something Mathletics already has
built-in. • Mathletics is able to be mapped to any text, which makes for a perfect partnership.
There are so many free resources around, why would we have Mathletics?• No other program provides the extensive range of resources or analytical reporting Mathletics offers. • Mathletics has research and development teams, curriculum experts, training and excellent customer
support, all included with a Mathletics subscription.• A recent, independent National Numeracy Study concluded that using Mathletics has a highly
significant impact on the average attainment of schools in the NAPLAN test. • Furthermore, it is clear that higher levels of usage equate to stronger NAPLAN results.
Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions (cont.)
What if the students have been using it for years and want a break?• We understand, that is why we are continually looking to add new elements to keep things fresh. In most
cases we find students have been only subjected to one area of the program. Moving students around into other areas of Mathletics, such as concept videos or virtual manipulatives, often enhances their engagement more.
• Live Mathletics now includes class vs class capability, which really gets students excited. Soon we will be adding school vs school, so schools around the world can challenge each other.
• Mathletics schools have the opportunity to participate in exciting competitions, for example the World Education Games and AFL Maths Challenge.
• The results of the National Numeracy Study show that students gain the greatest benefit when Mathletics is used over a number of years and the more activities completed by students, the higher the school test scores tend to be.
Isn’t Mathletics just skill and drill?• Mathletics is excellent for developing concept fluency, which is an essential element of the Australian
Curriculum. In addition, Mathletics offers a wide variety of learning tools with more being added all the time.• Curriculum activities in Mathletics feature adaptive questions, which become progressively more challenging
if the student gets multiple correct answers.• Current research shows to achieve mastery in mathematics, students need to be shown concepts and then
given plenty of opportunities to practice – not mindless, repetitive practice but thoughtful practice, with a variety of problems.
• The development of higher-order problem-solving skills, depends on a sound grasp of basic facts and an automatic mastery of fundamental operations.
• Practice is a prerequisite for more advanced problem solving. Mathletics offers many opportunities for practice and incremental review.
• Current research shows that anxiety is a factor in reducing student engagement in mathematics. Mathletics helps students overcome anxiety by practicing until the procedure becomes second nature and automatic.
There are a lot of other online maths products on the market, how do they compare with Mathletics?• Mathletics was one of the first online programs. Our experience allows us to be ahead of others by
constantly adding new resources, expanding into new curricula, delivering new diagnostic tools for teachers. • Mathletics has expanded into multiple countries and this has allowed our research and development
teams to closely monitor what works. No other product comes close to matching the amount of resources built into the Mathletics platform.
• Mathletics content and tools have been developed based on extensive research into how students learn.
• Ongoing development continues to ensure Mathletics remains the world leader in online maths education.
• The National Numeracy Study shows that schools that use Mathletics appear in the top 10 percent of school NAPLAN scores more frequently than those that do not.

NATIONAL NUMERACY STUDY Verified by Dr. Tony Stokes Australian Catholic University
Over 8,000 Australian
schools studied.
Over 8,000 Australian schools were examined covering all sectors, states and socioeconomic backgrounds. The study examined NAPLAN average school results in 2008, 2010 and 2012 in comparison with Mathletics usage.
Authored and endorsed by Dr. Tony Stokes of Australian Catholic University Sydney. This study gives insight into numeracy progress and development in Australia and allows educators to move forward with strategies to enhance teaching and learning practices.
Disclaimer: NAPLAN data sourced from the My School website (www.myschool.edu.au), with permission from the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). ACARA does not endorse Mathletics or the methodology used for this analysis.
Spending as little as 30mins/week on curriculum activities, schools can gain a potential advantage of more than 9 %.
Students with longer-term usage (>2yrs) saw an even greater jump in NAPLAN results.
