Investigative work on water purification

• Water is essential for life. Nevertheless, it’s limited for million of people over the world. The privileged people who have water in their faucets have it in a purify and decontaminated form. So, how do people do to purify it? There are many ways to do it, but they are very expensive and difficult.

El agua es esencial para la vida. Sin embargo, es escasa para millones de personas en todo el mundo. La gente privilegiada que tiene agua en sus grifos la tiene purificada y descontaminada. Entonces, como hacemos para purificarla? Hay muchas formas de hacerlo, pero son muy caras y difíciles de realizar.

Métodos para purificar el agua

Desinfección Solar de Aguas: Una botella con agua contaminada es expuesta al sol aproximadamente por 6 horas. La radiación solar destruye las bacterias.

Remoción de Arsénico por Oxidación Solar: El agua es colocada con algunos gramos de alambre que radian por unas horas. Luego, el arsénico es eliminado mediante la oxidación.

Fotocatálisis heterogénea solar: El dióxido de titanio elimina los componentes toxicos orgánicos del agua. Bacterias y virus son eliminados también.

Methods to purify water

Solar water disinfection: Contaminated water is exposed to sun for approximately six hours. The solar radiation destroys bacterium.

Arsenic removal by Solar Oxidation: Some grammes of wire are contained in water. The wire radiate for a few hours. The arsenic is eliminated by oxidation.

Solar heterogeneous photocatalysis: Titanium dioxid eliminates water organics toxic compounds. Bacterium and virus are eliminated too.

In Mar del Plata there are companies which purify water. One of the most important is Unitek, wich has been opened since in 1993. It is conformed by engineers and technicians from Mar del Plata National University.

En Mar del Plata hay empresas que purifican agua. La más importante es Unitek, fundada en 1993. Está conformada por ingenieros y técnicos de la Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata.

Prilep does not need to purify their water; there water is already clean. Prilep only purify river’s water, but citizens do not drink it.

Una gran diferencia entre Mar del Plata y Prilep es que Prilep no necesita purificar su agua, porque ya está limpia. Prilep sólo purifica el agua de sus ríos, pero no la beben.

In conclusion, it can be said that Prilep has better water quality than Mar del Plata. It is kind of a rolemodel for everybody to learn to be more respectful with the environment.

En conclusión, podemos decir que el agua de Prilep tiene una mejor calidad que la de Mar del Plata. Es para todos un modelo a seguir para aprender a ser más respetuosos con el medio ambiente.
