Dear Church Family, I’ve missed being able to gather with you all! I’ve heard from many of you and I know that you miss gathering with your church family as well! You have been very understanding and patient as

we have tried to navigate what it looks like to gather online. Many of you have participated by watching the online worship service on Sunday mornings. We’ve had good participation in our Wednesday evening Bible study and our Sunday school class. While it’s not the same, it has been encouraging to see your faces, hear your voices, and read your comments. We’ve also had many new people join us for worship and Bible study which has been an unexpected consequence of gathering online. Pray that these people will join us in person when we can gather together again. The good news is that we are moving closer to the day when we can gather again in person. Our federal and state governing officials have laid out some guidelines for the reopening of our country. One official described the reopening this way, “It will not be like flipping a light switch on but rather it will be like a sunrise.” Getting back to some degree of normalcy will be gradual. The deacons and I will be meeting on Sunday, April 26th to discuss what the “sunrise” of reopening of our church building will entail. Again, this will be a gradual process that will include many of the guidelines that you have become very familiar with during this unique season such as social distancing. We ask for your prayers for wisdom as we prepare for the day when we can meet together in person. In the meantime, we will continue to gather online on Sundays and Wednesdays. You can access our Sunday morning worship service either through The Hill Baptist Church Facebook page or by clicking on “Online Service” on our website (www.thehillbaptist.com). You can access the Wednesday evening Bible study and the Sunday school class using either Zoom or Facebook. Instructions for how to use these avenues will be sent each Wednesday in the Mission Update email. Also, I want to encourage you to call and check with each other and pray for each other. Lastly, I want to thank you for your generosity! I know this time is filled with economic uncertainty. But as followers of Jesus we know that God provides for His people and His mission. You have demonstrated that belief by your faithfulness in supporting the mission of our church. I want to encourage you to continue your faithful giving. You can give your offering by mailing it to the church office, dropping in the drop box, or you can give online by going to www.thehillbaptist.com/give. Thank you again for your generosity! As we move closer to the day when we will gather together again, let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” I’m praying for you and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon! In Christ,

Pastor Ron Jones

Worship Songs , Given By God!

Many of the first worship songs were written by David, a man after God's own heart. We find in the book of Psalms many texts that we sing today in familiar

hymns. These worship songs can be used as singing prayers as we come before God's throne each day during our time of devotion and prayer for discipleship. Psalm 91 begins; "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.", The psalmist continues a few verses later with "You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday" Sounds like something we might need to hear from the news/culture media during these days! The songs of our heart should include, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God"; "How Great Thou Art"; "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"; and "God Will Take Care Of You" These and other great hymns of the church have lasted many years and some even centuries. I would encourage you to add your hymnal to your Bible during your daily reading and prayer time. The last two months of "social distancing" has made me yearn for fellowship with our choir and our congregation at Hill Baptist Church. As Pastor Ron and I have led worship to an empty sanctuary, our hearts and minds have been directed by the Holy Spirit to see each of you and let you know how much Jesus Christ cares for each of us. So whatever this "new normal" of meeting for worship becomes, keep on reading and singing God's promises of provision and safety. I Corinthians 10:13 confirms that we will not have problems or troubles that are unique.. But, God's promise is that with the trouble, He will make a way for us to escape and prosper. "I serve a risen Savior, He's in the world today! Floyd Montgomery Director of Music Ministry

Message from Financial Management

Dear Friends,

I am so blessed to have you as my

friends and I thank God for each

and every one of you. Thank you

so much for the many cards and

phone calls.

My doctor says that I am not to go out so I am also

blessed to have several neighbors to go and get my

groceries.

I’m sorry I couldn’t send each of you a card. The only

reason I have the one (mailed to the church office) is

because it was sent by mail for me.

Love and prayers always,

Pat Henderson
