Infants

Hello and Happy November! We would like to start by welcoming Shravin to the infant room. Please be sure to say hello to our newest friend. Happy, happy, happy birthday to Hannah, Shravin, Makai, and Ms. Bianca. It’s hard to believe that three of our friends will be turning one this month! Last, but not least, we cannot wait for our new location to be completed!

Ms. Nayda & Ms. Bianca

Toddlers

Thank you to all the families who came to our Fall Festival! Painting pumpkins and doing stickers was such a hit, we decided to do the activity a few more times as a class. The arrival of fall weather allows us to explore leaves, apples and pumpkins. We are also excited to play and learn about balls, Wisconsin birds, opposites (like loud & quiet, hot

& cold) and boxes!

Ms. Becca & Ms. Megan

Twos

November is a month to be thankful. This is what Ms. Jenny’s two-year-olds are thankful for: Autumn—sliced cheese, Hugo—trains & trucks, Karson—blocks, Lia—books, Maebel—baby sister Ella, Preston—Milk, Zamira—her hoodie, Zara—puzzles. Ms. Jenny is thankful for all her fun, loving and exciting two-year-olds, and even more

thankful the new center will be opening soon!

Ms. Jenny

3K/4K

For the month of November, the 3K/4K classroom will be talking all about community helpers. We will be finishing our fire safety unit at the beginning of the month. We will then move into learning about police and teachers. We will also be celebrating lots of birthdays this month. Elizabeth and William will be celebrating their third birthday, and Christian and Sophia will be

celebrating their fourth birthday!

How to Help Your Child’s Transition Smoothly Transitioning, or moving, to new places, people and activities, is something we do many times during the day. However, transitioning can be overwhelming and seem unpredictable for your child, especially when she is not ready to move on to the next place or activity. Children make many transitions each day, from parents to teachers, from home to car, or from play time to the dinner table, for example. Children often act out with challenging behavior when they feel unable to control their routine especially when adults decide the when and how. When adults help children prepare for transitions, we are helping them learn a valuable skill. The good news is that you can teach her this important skill while you are enjoying time together. Try these things at home:

Use a timer, instrument or funny noise to give advance warning of an impending transition. Whenever possible, involve your young child in the alert. For example, have your toddler hum through a paper towel roll to alert

family members of dinner.

Use a special toy to help bridge the gap when having to run errands. “Do you think Pierre the kitty would like to go to the store with us and pick out new carpet for

the living room?”

Use a visual schedule to show your child the plan for the day. “First, you we are going to child care and then we have to drop off letters to be mailed at the post office and pick up some things at the grocery store for

dinner.”

Transitional times can be made into a game where the child has the opportunity to move around. “Let’s see if we can find all the yellow toys first and place them in this basket?” Additionally, it is a great time to see your child’s creativity and how much fun you have hopping

like a kangaroo to the car. „

Make up silly songs together about what you are doing

or where you are going.

Children are more cooperative when they can be part of the process. Let them help stir something for dinner, unlock the car doors with the remote or pick out a

diaper before a diaper change.

When transitioning to child care, come into the classroom, read a short story before heading out or help get belongings to the cubby. When you are ready to leave, tell your child good bye and reassure them you will be back to pick them up later in the day. This simple routine helps your child have a successful day.
