Water vapor is released through small tubes back into the air because of differences in air pressure. Sublimation Sublimation is when water goes directly from a solid to a gas. There is no liquid phase. For example, snow and ice turning directly into water vapor without melting first. Mt. Everest, losing some snowcover due to a common windstorm. Snow is also constantly lost, invisibly, due to sublimation. Credit: Benjamin D. Oppenheimer Infiltration Infiltration is precipitation that soaks into the ground. Stays as either run-off or sublimation
