Reduce Soil Salinity Soil salinity is one of the most serious agricultural problems. The cause of this process is the accumulation of salts in soil capillaries leading to a sharp decrease in plant fertility. Salt concentration left in plant capillaries, with insufficient amount of nourishing substances leads to plants dying. Magnetic systems developed by Quantum BioTek make it is possible to use traditionally unsuitable salty water (salt content of 410 l/g, 2,000ppm and up to 7,000ppm), efficiently for irrigating crops. Obviously, when you irrigate with salty water, you subsequently increase the level of soil salinity which interferes with plant nutrient absorption. Soil salinity affects vast areas of farming land and the area of salt-effected land is increasing rapidly. For example, approximately 32 million hectares of Australia's arable land have been rendered useless by salt. The cost in lost agricultural production is estimated at $3.5 billion per year.

After years of preparation, the Commonwealth Government released The Basin Salinity Management Strategy in 2001. Replacement of the natural ecosystems with conventional agriculture has resulted in large-scale disruption of the natural water cycle with severe environmental, economic and social consequences. Key natural resource management issues facing modern agriculture are: Soil and Water Quality, Soil Salinity, and Degradation of Riverine Ecosystems.

One of the greatest challenges facing Australia and the rest of the world is how to manage natural resources for a healthy future, while much of the landscape has critical salinity and water quality problems:

At least 2.5 million hectares (ha.) (5% of cultivated land) is currently affected by dry land salinity - this could rise to 12 million ha. (22%) at the current rate of increase.

At least 250,000 hectares of irrigated land (>10% of irrigated land) are presently salt affected out of a total of 2.3 million hectares of irrigated land. There is a potential for serious effects in a further 615,000 hectares over the next 20 years.

One third of Australian rivers are in extremely poor condition - within 20 years Adelaide's drinking water will fail World Health Organization salinity standards in 2 days out of 5 if no improvement is effected.

Land and water degradation, excluding weeds and pests, is estimated to cost up to $3.5 billion per year. (In addition dry land salinity has adversely affected biodiversity, e.g. the CSIRO estimates a resultant reduction in bird species of 50% in agricultural areas. Infrastructure (buildings, roads, etc.) is being severely damaged in many rural urban centers.

Solutions to the salinity threat will largely depend on reassigning land and water use for the future and the taking of corrective measures, such as reclamation strategies for both dry land and irrigated or degraded lands affected by saline, saline-alkaline and sodic soils. Causes of saline and/or sodic soils

Saline and/or sodic soil is caused by four separate conditions: High salt in the parent material and low rainfall (low leaching), High rainfall with poor internal drainage, High water table that carries salt to the soil surface, and High amount of salt being applied through chemicals, manure and poor quality irrigation water

Before a reclamation system can be established, the factors causing salt accumulation must be eliminated.

Ions most commonly associated with soil salinity include the anions: chloride (Cl-), sulphate (SO4=), carbonate (HCO3-), and sometimes nitrate (NO3-) and the cations: sodium (Na+), calcium(Ca++), magnesium (Mg++), and sometimes potassium (K+). Salts of these ions occur in highly variable concentrations and proportions. Effect of salinity on crop production

Plant growth and yield are limited mainly by the soil environment factors. Soil, water, nutrients, salinity, sodicity, structure, temperature, pH, and mineral toxicities can all interact to limit plant growth. In Saline soils although pH (<8.5) and ESP (<15%) are not high, CEC is >4 mmhos/cm and an excess of soluble salt in the subsoil restricts water uptake by crops; in the case of alkalinity there are Nutrient deficiencies (either because of a lack of nutrients, or because roots are unable to access them). The best way of understanding these limitations is to consider them in terms of the interacting factors that directly influence crop growth. Traditional methods of reclamation of saline and sodic soils

Drainage carries the salts down through the soil profile and out of the rooting zone. Without drainage, salts will accumulate regardless of any applied soil amendments. However, implementing proper drainage systems is limited by expense and complex technical details. Leaching and reclaiming saline soils Saline soils cannot be reclaimed by any chemicals, conditioner, or fertilizer. Reclamation of these soils consists of simply applying enough high-quality water to leach the soil thoroughly. The water applied should be low in sodium but can be fairly saline (1,500 to 2,000 ppm total salt), as this helps to keep the soil permeable during the leaching process. Generally, about 12 inches of water are required to remove 70 to 80 % of the salt for each foot of soil. This is also a limited technique in that application of excess water can create extra management problems due to the threat of high water tables, increased expense of irrigation water and difficulty in maintaining adequate levels of soil nitrate for crop growth. Reclaiming saline and sodic soils In sodic soils, the exchangeable sodium is sometimes so great that the resulting dispersed soil is almost impervious to water. Sodic soil can be treated by replacing the absorbed sodium with a soluble source of cation i.e. calcium. Calcium may be made available through manipulation with native gypsum already in the soil, calcium in irrigation water (Calcium chloride), or commercial amendments. They may be useful where soil permeability is low due to low salinity, excess sodium, or high carbonate/bicarbonate in the water.

In order to reclaim soil to a depth of one foot, gypsum recommendations are as follows: tons of gypsum per acre = 1.7 X (meq Na/100 g - (CEC X 5%).

Reclamation of a foot depth of sodic soil on one acre requires approximately 1.7 tons of pure gypsum for each milliequivalent of exchangeable sodium present per 100 grams of soil. For example, if soil has a CEC of 20 milliequivalents per 100 grams and 30 percent exchangeable sodium, there would be 6 milliequivalents of sodium per 100 grams of soil. Thus, 10.2 tons of gypsum (6 x 1.7) per acre would be required to reclaim this soil.

If sodic soils contain no source of calcium (gypsum or free carbonates), then gypsum or a soluble calcium source needs to be applied. However, the reclamation process is not complete until most of the sodium is removed from the soil to at least a depth of three to five feet. Even then, more time is required for restoration of good soil productivity. This process is limited in that once the soil structure is completely destroyed it is slow to return to a desirable condition. Correcting saline and sodic soils requires salt to be leached out of the soil profile. This requires good quality water, good soil permeability and good drainage. Amendments that supply soluble calcium are needed in huge quantity to correct sodic soils. Reduce Soil Salinity Magnetized Water Technology

For over 30 years Quantum BioTek's team of scientists researched the effects of magnetic fields on plants and a method of magneto-hydro dynamical activisation of irrigation waters. From this research exciting new applications have been developed and tested in Europe, Middle East and Australia. The photographs below show results from an experiment that included using salt water for irrigation of different plants. In each case, the salt content of the water was 10,000 PPM. The results shown on the left are those where magnetized water was used with seeds that had undergone magnetic treatment. The results on the right are those from the control group where non-magnetized water and untreated seeds were used.

Seed Germination Seeds have a self-preservation energy that differs at various stages in their life cycle. During harvest, not all planted seeds will grow, which adds to the cost of overall seed-material usage.

Choose the right time Choosing the appropriate lunar phase while magnetizing seeds is vitally important. For example, it is better to magnetize wheat seeds during the new moon, cucumber during the last quarter of the lunar phase, tomato during full moon, and carrot in the first quarter of the lunar phase.

Treating the seeds Seeds essentially are the resting system of organs for a future plant. The quality and virility of the plant depends on the quality of this system.

Seeds prepared for magnetizing before sowing must be from one group, with controlled seeds, identical by lineage, reproduction and conditions of storing. Seeds from different layers should be thoroughly mixed and humidity should not be more than 14 percent.

Sowing with soaked seeds Pour the water through the funnel-shaped h20 Energizer Solo into a container to soak the seeds. Leave the seeds in that treated water for at least 30 minutes, and then pour the water back out, passing the water and the seeds through the Solo again. The seeds now are ready for sowing.

The results of both methods will improve, however, if magnetized water is used for irrigation.

Iron Bacteria What is Iron Bacteria? Iron bacteria are micro-organisms which obtain energy by oxidizing soluble ferrous iron into insoluble ferric iron which then precipitates out of solution. This energy is used to promote the growth of thread-like slimes which together with the ferric iron form a voluminous mass. Many species of iron bacteria have been identified. There are also some bacteria which live on manganese in water. However, as most groundwater contains lower concentrations of manganese than iron, it is iron bacteria, which have caused the majority of problems in bores.

Effects on Wells While most groundwater contains a certain concentration of ferrous iron, iron bacteria does not affect all wells. When iron bacteria does infect a bore, the resulting growths may either suspend in solution or tuberculation (deposit growth) onto the well casing, screens, or the aquifer itself. Tuberculation may also occur in pumping equipment and reticulation systems. The result may be:

Blockage or restriction of groundwater into the well Blockages in reticulation systems Decreased pumping efficiency Increased pumping costs Burn-out of submersible pumps due to overheating

Microirrigation systems are particularly susceptible to clogging due to the fine aperture sizes of the common outlets. When fixed to metallic fittings, the bacteria are thought to secrete an acidic substance which increases metal corrosion resulting in deterioration of well casing, screen, pump, column and reticulation system.

Iron bacteria may cause a decline in the standard of water quality with adverse effects on taste, color and odor, and lead to usually a reddish stain. The Problem Iron in irrigation water could be an essential nutrient to plants but instead it oxidizes on contact with the air and blocks drippers, filters and spray nozzles and contributes to scale build up in the pipes resulting in decreased efficiency, increased maintenance, and expensive replacement of dripper nozzles.

Dissolved iron as found in ground water is present as Ferrous (Fe++) iron. Ferrous iron compounds which are soluble are colorless when dissolved in water. When ground water containing ferrous iron is pumped to the surface it is oxidized to Ferric (Fe+++) iron. This Ferric Oxide (Fe2O3) is insoluble and reddish/brown in color. Its common name is rust and is responsible for suffocating plant leaves and discoloring buildings and anything else it comes in contact with. As the particles of rust are very tiny they remain in suspension for a considerable time and the water takes on a reddish/brown color. If this water is left to settle, most of the rust particles will sink to the bottom of the storage vessel over time.

When the water containing dissolved Ferrous ions (Fe++) is treated with Quantum BioTek's resonance frequency technology, the highly specific frequencies resonate the outer shell electrons of the iron atom. Introduction: SuperHarvest is described as a plant health wash, and in this respect its ability to rapidly increase growth of biomass and subsequent crop yield, provides many attributes which makes it a single product that can be successfully used on all crops. Application is made by spraying directly onto the foliage in the normal way. Only two applications are needed - at three or four leaf and then 20 to 30 days later. SuperHarvest can be applied on its own, or in conjunction with fertilizers and biocides.

Leaf Structure:

Sprayed material penetrates into the leaf, and can be defined in two movements into the tissue. Penetration from the outside is referred to as "absorption", and the other from the point of penetration to other parts of the plant, is referred to as "translocation". The primary penetration takes place directly through the cuticle – or upper epidermis. Penetration also takes place through the stomata, which are aperture controlled for gas exchange and transpiration. Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis is the process of converting light energy to make sugars. Carbon dioxide is absorbed from the air through the stomata and water, and taken up by the roots. The process takes place in the "palisade layer", which is filled with "chloroplasts" specifically using chlorophyll to capture the energy in light, and begins the transformation of that energy into sugars.

Translocation: The "vascular bundle" consists of Phloem and Xylem tissues, and is commonly referred to as leaf veins. Phloem transport is important for the distribution of energy created in the leaves to the growing regions in the roots and shoots. This movement follows the "sink-source" relationship - from locations where carbohydrates are created (source) to places where they are consumed (sink). Phloem movement is bidirectional.

Xylem is flux regulated and driven by the water + nutrient potential difference between soil, leaf and the atmosphere. Movement of water and nutrient is upwards only. The higher the ambient temperature, the greater the evaporation rate will be, and the greater the potential difference.

How SuperHarvest Works The micro-scale size of the cleansing molecules allows them to enter the plant cells of the leaves, which causes an accelerated increase in photosynthesis. As a consequence, this allows the plant to feed better, the plant grows healthier, stronger, promotes a healthier root growth, and produces larger yields. This process also helps plants resist drought, frost and pestilence.

SuperHarvest contains sodium, which is an extremely efficient transporter of nutrients. (Sodium is a cation, which encourages and stimulates the movement of fertilizers and other nutrients from the soil into plant itself through its root system.) By spray washing plants you are cleaning the plant leaves, and clean plant leaves enhances photosynthesis, which increases a plants ability to fight pests and disease. When applied to bare root stock before planting, or saturating the root structure when in place, stimulates new growth and development. It dissolves NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potash) from the roots, thereby enhancing nutrient uptake.

Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is the process by which plants utilize sunlight to produce sugar. Sugar forms the basis for starches, cellulose, waxes, carbohydrates, oils and protein that are the building blocks for plant growth. The leaf is crammed full of photosynthetic cells.

During photosynthesis, leaves use water and release oxygen. Plants and trees, after being sprayed with Plant Wash, experience an accelerated level of photosynthesis. This is believed due to the tiny size of the particles, which allows them to penetrate the plant’s leaves, improving photosynthesis. As a benefit, the plant grows more rapidly, is healthier, stronger, more productive and better able to resist disease. The leaf traps energy from sunlight and stores it as sugars and starch.

The Root of the Matter It begins with electro-magnetic action in the roots. When a seed germinates, it produces an embryonic root that grows into the soil. As the root grows, it produces hair and lateral roots. Within the root, the inner cells absorb water and nutrients from the root to the shoot and from the shoot to the root. This process is called “Cation Exchange.” Bio Plant Wash excites and enlarges this “cation exchange capacity.” Flow from the shoot to the root is achieved by loading sugars produced in the leaves into the phloem. The sugar-laden solution moves downward to the root.

Nano-Colloidal Stimulation of the Root Structure When applied to bare root stock before planting, or saturating the root structure when in place, nano-colloidal solutions act to stimulate new growth and development. They dissolve NPK from the roots, thereby enhancing nutrient uptake into the plant. Nutrient uptake is expedited from the inclusion of sodium within the nano-colloidal formulation.

Sodium is a cation, which is an atom or group of atoms carrying a positive electron charge. The positive charge results because there are more protons than electrons in the cation. The negatively charged anions are attracted to the positive sodium cation. They attach themselves and hitch a ride into the plant. In other words, nano-colloidal solutions are sodium transporters conveying nourishment directly into the plant. The reason for this improved nutrient effect is the miniscule size of the molecules, which allows them to enter the plant cells (in the leaves), where the sugar factory is located. This causes a maximized increase in photosynthesis, which is the basis for the starches, cellulose, waxes, carbohydrates, oils, and protein that are the building blocks for all plant growth.
