As itsfame spread, Waterford rapidlybecame the most desirable crystal of the day.

The original Penrose goal remainsour legacy today; “To make acrystal in as fine a quality as any…in the most elegant style.”

Over two hundred years later – and with glorious evolution – thelegend grows. Today, in diversecountries across the globe,Waterford’s inner beauty continuesto enhance the lifestyle of adiscerning audience.

The fascination of Waterford Lighting forEmperors, Kings, Queens, and Presidentshas carried the name into some of theworld’s finest buildings… from London’sWestminster Abbey to the KennedyCentre in Washington D.C., to thehomes and businesses of countlessWaterford admirers. For these andothers, Waterford is the ultimate lightingexpression – the focal point for anybuilding.

Charming the eye with subtle gleamsand gentle sparkles, the effect is everchanging, reflecting the mood of anyhour. By day it captures the glints ofsunlight, enhances the delicate streamsof twilight, and at night illuminates withglowing elegance. Waterford Lighting, a classic in design, always in style…never out of fashion.

The hallmark of Waterford Crystal sincethe 18th century has been its uniquecutting patterns, each incised deeply intothe surface of the crystal by diamondtipped wheels, or in the case of flat cutswith carborundum and sandstone.

The primitive tools and moulds used by the blower are almostidentical to those usedby glass makers of the18th and 19th centuries.

Waterford Lighting products arecommissioned and manufactured to Waterford’s demanding quality and design specifications in manyoverseas locations. These products aremanufactured by an uncompromisingprocess that skillfully marries Waterford’seighteenth century design traditions with unparalleled quality standards and the most appropriate technologyavailable in the crystal industry.

On the following pages are someexamples of what our designers andcraftsman can create. Specification, however, may sometimes vary slightlyfrom those illustrated as advances indesign are incorporated.

Waterford Crystal utilise only the highest quality materials and the finalproducts conform to the strictest ISO (BS equivalent) standards.

Every chandelier, like our crystal, is checked and re-checked throughrigorous quality inspection. As everysection, however, is hand crafted, subtle variances from one piece toanother may sometimes occur.

The uncut crystal, the “blank”, is marked with a geometricpattern to guide the cutter as he applies the chosen pattern. The design is cut strictly frommemory requiring tremendousskill and dexterity. No othercrystal is cut as deeply asWaterford, but then no othercrystal has its sparkle orrefractive quality.
