Waste Management Clear Alleys User Guidelines Eliminating permanent container storage in alleys will: • Create cleaner, safer business districts • Increase the attractiveness of alleys for pedestrian use • Allow better alley access for business services and deliveries Starting March 30, 2009, Waste Management will offer dumpster-free service to commercial and multifamily customers in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood as part of the City’s Clear Alleys Program (CAP). The Clear Alleys Program Rules can be viewed online at www.seattle.gov/util and search “Clear Alleys.”

Pre-paid Bags Garbage and recycling bags that have been purchased from Waste Management* can be set out three hours before a scheduled pick-up.

Frequent Collection Waste Management will provide service every day, seven days a week, 24/7 and will collect bags at least three times a day in the Pioneer Square neighborhood.

Bulky Items Customers can purchase disposal tags for items that cannot easily fit in a plastic bag. These tagged bulky items may also be set out 3 hours prior to collection.

Billing Bag collection costs and shipping via USPS are included in the purchase fee. Expedited shipping is available upon request for an extra fee. Minimum bag order: $100. Minimum bulky items tag order:$25.

Commercial customers will also be billed for a monthly service fee of $14.75. Multifamily customers will also pay a monthly service charge of $26.44. All major credit cards are accepted.

Recycling and Food Composting Customers interested in starting or expanding food waste collection should contact the Resource Venture at resourceventure.org or call (206) 343-8505.

Set Out Instructions Please visit our website for collection times for your area. Customers may set out securely tied bags and/or tagged items up to three hours before the collection time window for their neighborhood. Put cardboard inside recycling bags or bundled (limit 3’x3’x2’ and set next to a recycling bag).
