Jesus resisted unto the shedding of blood in His struggle against sin (Heb. 12:3,4). You and I should not ex- pect better treatment from the world than what He received, nor should we be sur- prised when we are mistreated (1 Jn 3:13). Jesus was mistreated, and although he could have utterly destroyed those who were putting him to death, He chose to humbly submit to His Fathers plan so we could be delivered from this present evil world and be reconciled to Him. What does the gift of Gods grace mean to you? How precious is the blood that flowed on the old rugged cross? We get to show the Lord our appreciation daily by the ser- vice we offer up to Him. Does Jesus know that you love Him? Do you show Him?

Warner Robins Welcomes

Mani Pagidipalli Missionary in India

We are blessed to have brother Mani with us this Sunday morning as he comes to give an update on the Lord’s work in his native coun-try of India. Mani is exceptionally gifted and a great soldier of the cross working in a part of the world where the threat of death is very real just for being a Christian and teaching others about Jesus.

Jesus calls us out of the world of darkness to fight the good fight of faith that we may lay hold of the eternal crown of righteousness (1 Tim. 6:12, 19). Jesus resisted unto the shedding of blood in His struggle against sin (Heb. 12:3,4). You and I should not ex-pect better treatment from the world than what He received, nor should we be sur-prised when we are mistreated (1 Jn 3:13). Jesus was mistreated, and although he could have utterly destroyed those who were putting him to death, He chose to humbly submit to His Father’s plan so we could be delivered from this present evil world and be reconciled to Him. What does the gift of God’s grace mean to you? How precious is the blood that flowed on the “old rugged cross?” We get to show the Lord our appreciation daily by the ser-vice we offer up to Him. Does Jesus know that you love Him? Do you show Him?

I Am In the Image of God I am in the image of God – and so are you. Because we are in His image, we are not like the animals for “God created man in His own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female He created them” (Gen 1:27). In His image we are given the ability to reason so we might know God, to differentiate and choose right from wrong that we might choose to love Him and do His will, and to contemplate our own existence so we can know our purpose to serve and praise Him as our creator. This is who we are; our personhood is in His image.

The Elders’ Edification God created us in His image so we can have a relationship with Him that is not available to any other creature. Because we are in His image we are blessed to rule over His creation and have been given every plant yielding seed, every tree which has fruit, every beast of the earth and every bird of the sky (Gen 1:28–30). Even after the fall of mankind, the image of God in our personhood remained intact. After the worldwide flood, mankind is told not to unlawfully take a human life because we are still in the image of God (Gen 9:6). All of humanity is endowed with God’s image and therefore endowed with dignity and value. Being in His image is the primary basis for a positive self-image and self-esteem. In His image means we should define our existence in relation to who God is. Who God loves is who we should love. And since God loves all his creation, you and me included (John 3:16), we too should love the world and all who are in it. Although our personhood image remains intact after the fall – we still have the ability to know God and His will, to choose to love him and do right while loving and serving Him – the relational aspect of our God-like image is damaged. Like Adam and Eve who tried to hide from God after their sin (Gen 3:8), so too does sin damage our image. Sin changes our image with God from a positive to a negative. No longer a willing and loving servant, we have corrupted our God-like image in rebellion to the very image He gave us. Under the power of sin we are no longer masters of God’s creation but slaves to sin. Consequently, our God-like image requires restoration, freeing us from the bond that corrupts our image. This freedom is only found in the one who IS the image of the invisible God, Jesus Christ (Col. 1:15). Sadly, the world is blinded, unable to see the light of the glory of Christ, who is in the image of God (2 Cor. 4:4). But, those in Christ “have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him – a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all (Col 3:10–11). Therefore, our motivation for evangelism comes from our being in the image of God, desiring for others to have their image restored in Christ. That all might see the worth that God sees in His creation – that it might be very good again (Gen 1:31). I am in the image of God, as a person AND in Christ – are you? The Elders
