TCS Warehouse

TCS warehouse & distribution is a sub department of TCS logistics which was introduce as a business

unit in 2004. This division is dealing as a third party logistics as well as functioning as the temporary

storage for the final and finished goods.

List of main services of TCS warehouse are:

Freight

TCS freight is division which is responsible for the transport of goods and services from one

destination to other destination. By utilizing the four modes of transports like road, railway, sea

and air transport in the strategic manner depending on the following basic priorities Fragility of

material, Urgency of the delivery, Size of the delivery, and cost of transportation. This facility is

availed not as for the corrier services but also for transporting huge quantity of raw materials

for industry use.

Custom clearance

TCS also offer the custom clearance to their customer, it includes all sort of paper working and

procedures to facilitate their customers as a value added service. This is their competitive

advantage in the industry.

Warehousing

TCS provides Warehousing facility to all their business alliances. This includes two types of warehousing:

permanent and temporary, depends as per the space needed in peak and low seasons of the company.

They maintain proper storing facilities according to the storage requirements of the materials. Like some

pharmaceutical components required cold storage facility which TCS fulfills.



Value addition and stock repacking

In Value addition and stock packaging services TCS performs the following tasks: bulk breaking,

repackaging in single unit and bundles, combining two different products as complimentary gifts etc,

packaging in cartons, wrapping and posting of addresses .

Bar-coding and labeling

In bar coding and labeling unit the TCS offer their customers to outsource this task to TCS in order to

cost reduction and minimization of error chances that may occur due to lack of skill and junior labor. In

this unit TCS look after all the labeling and bar coding activities in imported, exported and local parcel

services.

Warranty management

In the warranty management TCS tackles all the claims by the customers of the outsourcing companies

as their operating agent. That reduces the replacement delays and creates a better relationship

between customer and the related business.

Reverse logistics

In the Reverse logistics TCS facilitate the picking back service of rejected materials spontaneously. In

case of fragile materials it is an advantage of both companies that the place occupied by the rejected

raw material will be free to use for other productive task.

Project management

In project management TCS plays role in the terms of logistics portion that include the effective and

efficient route mapping in order to reduce cost and delay in delivery, in addition to this how much load

and how the load will be managed for maximum utilization of the logistics.

OPERATING SYSTEMS:

Two kinds of operating systems are being used at TCS.

OMS: Order Management System (OMS) is a specialized computer software primarily used for

order entry and order processing. An integrated OMS is used in several domains at TCS but at

the warehouse it is used for data entry of the received parcel for example(descriptions,attributes, weight and location) and for order processing it helps in (selection, packaging,

labeling, picking and shipping)

CRS: Customer Relationship System (CRS) is another unique feature of TCS warehouse which

gives a personal touch to make their quality better. CRS directly connects the customers with

TCS and handles their queries and complaints.
