During the Cutlog New York Contemporary Art Fair, May 7-11, 2014, French artist Clara Feder performs a collective and participative resistance to temptation, entitled The Wall of Temptation.
The Wall of Temptation is a subversive, worldwide participative art performance about Resisting Temptation – a way to put ourselves to the test in a world where yielding to acquisitiveness is the norm. The participants are given a real lottery ticket. If they resist scratching it, eventually they become part of a virtual human Wall, for the whole world to see.
Clara Feder confronts our socio-economic system in a symbolic, yet realistic way -questioning the drive to material consumption as our cultural norm, and the blind habit of yielding-to-temptation correlated with it.
“The Wall of Temptation shows a group of Citizens who actually say ‘No’, who resist temptation and defy the system, proving they are no fools.“ says Clara.
