The entrance to the site has been amde a gradually lowing in height, band to lead people into the site, these wases are interplanted with perenials of diffrernt verioties which flower at different times to elongate the visual intrest.

The front area has been redesigned giving cars direct access to the car park and incrased the available space for planting.

The roundabout seamsquite a threatening space so light vegitation will be used to make it seem brighter and less threatening.

In addition to this; the shrub planting that has been used it not too dense and wouldprevent people views through the site.prevent people views through the site.

There are polystichums are used so there is yearlong interest, in addition tothis the decidous shrubs have a strongarchitectural form afther the leaveshave fallen

Amalanchier canadensis is used in this siteas it is a reletivly permiable shrub, It is not threatening and has some form of visual interest all year.

SITE INTERIOR

The walkway to the main entrence of waitrose will become covered with passion flower flowersin 3 years, Creating an apparent solid canopyin 5-6 years. also because its evergreen it will look good all year round

A larger proprtion of the carpark will be covered by gree adding to sheffields wider green network

Page 5: Waitrose Planting Scheme and Plan

As this is the main thuroughfare for most visitersto the site a calm, flowing, naturalistic landscape was tried to be achieved, the mood has been created by use of textured and architectural grasses which add a 4th dimention of movementespecially when windy.

The grasses either side of the walkwaygive a very linear dimention and makethe walkway more attractive. also this form gives the feeling of lengthening time.

All grasses cut back in Febuary for newgrowth, temperarly replaced with growth, temperarly replaced with Muscari.
