SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR YOUR SUNBEAM ESPRESSO MACHINE

• Alwaysplacetheunitonaflat,levelsurface.• Donotoperatewithoutwaterinreservoir.

Fillreservoirwithonlycleanandcoldwater. Observethemaximumfillingvolumeis3litres.

• Donotremovethefilterhandleduringtheespressopourorwaterflowastheunitisunderpressure.Removingthefilterhandleduringeitheroftheseoperationscanleadtoascaldingorinjury.

• Thesteamwandandhotwatertapbecomeveryhotduringtexturingmilkandwaterflow.Thismaycauseburnsincaseofcontact,thereforeavoidany

directcontactwiththesteamwandorhotwatertap.

• Alwaysdisconnecttheplugfromthepoweroutletpriortocleaningtheespressomachineorifthereisanyproblemduringthecoffeemakingprocess.

• Donotallowthepowercordtocomeintocontactwiththehotpartsoftheespressomachine,includingthecupwarmingplate,hotwatertapandsteamwand.

• Donotplacehandsdirectlyunderthesteam,hotwaterorcoffeepourasthiscanleadtoascalding orinjury.

Sunbeam is very safety conscious when designing and manufacturing consumer products, but it is essential that the product user also exercise care when using an electrical appliance. Listed below are precautions which are essential for the safe use of an electrical appliance:

• Readcarefullyandsavealltheinstructionsprovidedwithanappliance.

Whentheneedlegoesbeyondthetargetareaitisanindicationthattheserveofespressois‘over-extracted’.Thisoccurswhenthewaterpassesveryslowlythroughthetampedcoffeegrindsandisanindicationthateitherthegrindistoofineorthefilterbaskethasbeenover-dosed.Inthissituationthehotwaterisincontactwiththecoffeegrindsfortoolongthuscreatingaburntandbittertastingespresso.Thisischaracterisedbytheespressoonlyslowlydrippingduringtheentirepourandthecremaisverydark.

Using your espresso machine

PowerPressthePOWERbuttononcetoturntheespressomachineon.Themachinewillbeeponceandthepowerbuttonwillflashred,thisistoindicatethatyourmachineisonandisheatingup.

Note:BeforeturningontheespressomachineensurethatthesteamandhotwatercontroldialsareintheOFFposition.

WhenthemachinehasreachedREADYMODE,thepowerbuttonwillstopflashingandthePOWER,MANUAL,1&2CUPbuttonswillilluminatered.Theespressomachineisnowreadytouse.

Power Saving ModeAfter1hourofnon-usetheespressomachinewillautomaticallyswitchtoPOWERSAVINGMODE.OncetheespressomachineisinPOWERSAVINGMODEallthelightsonthebuttonswilldim.WhileinPOWERSAVINGMODEtheespressomachinepowersdownto75%ofpower.Afterafurther4hoursofnon-usetheespressomachinewillbeeponceandthenturnoff.

TobringtheespressomachineoutofPOWERSAVINGMODEyousimplyneedtopressanyofthebuttonsonthecontrolboard.

Descaling Cycle for both the Coffee and Steam ThermoblocksScaleisasurfacebuildupofmineralsthatnaturallyoccurovertimeinallappliancesthatareinvolvedwiththeheatingofwater.Thereforetheespressomachinewillrequireoccasionaldescaling.Itisrecommendedthattheespressomachineisdescaledevery4-6months;thiswillvarydependingonthefrequencyofuseandwaterhardness.

1. Removethewaterreservoirandrinseclean.Fillwithfreshcoldwaterandreplacethereservoir.

2. Usingascrewdriverunscrewthefilter/showerscreenfromtheundersideofthegroupheadandcleanunderrunningwater.

3. Replacethefilter/showerscreenandscrewinposition.

4. Placealargecontainerunderthegroupheadandalsopositionthesteamwandsowaterfromboththegroupheadandthesteamwandwillfallintothecontainer.

5. TurnthesteamdialtotheONposition.

b) SunbeamLiquidDescaler.Fillthewaterreservoirwithapproximately3litresofwater,add2capfulsoftheSunbeamLiquidDescalerandreplacethereservoirintopositioninthemachine.

c) VinegarSolution.Fillthewaterreservoirwithapproximately3litresofwater,add6tablespoonsofvinegarandreplacethereservoirintopositioninthemachine.

Important:EnsuretheSTEAMdialisstillintheONposition.

9. Activatethedescalingcyclebypressingthe1CUPbuttononce.

10.ThepumpsforbothSTEAMandESPRESSOwillstarttopumpthroughthedescalingsolutionforapproximately15seconds.

11.Bothpumpswillstopandwaitforapproximately1minutetoallowthedescalingsolutiontotakeeffect.
