Room 1Room 1Programme Overview

Computers are one of the various learning centres in the Room 1. Each child has easy access to this learning tool. The children enjoy taking turns to experiment with a variety of educational games (e.g. Study Ladder) within a specified time each day. Through exposure to computer games the children develop basic computer skills. They are also learning to log in to our student learning management system, and view their e-portfolio. They also have teacher guided access to the internet, and often use interactive books during their literacy time.

Programme Overview

In Room 2 information technology tools are integrated into the classroom program. Developing the student’s understanding and confidence in using IT is integral to their development as is developing the use of other tools – pen, paper, books.

The students have regular access to the class computers for publishing their writing, to support their learning through curriculum software, to enhance their student profiles, and for research.

The students beginning to log in and use the school’s student learning management system (KnowledgeNet) to create a portfolio of their learning.

Room 3Room 3Programme Overview

In Room 3 information technology is utilised in a variety of ways. Computers are used daily to support our literacy and numeracy programme. The internet and CD-ROMs are used as research tools in all curriculum areas. The students use the learning management system throughout the day. This year we plan to develop an e-portfolio of their learning over the year, this will not only be electronic work but also scanned copies of handcrafted activities.

As well as computers the students are encouraged to use other IT resources like the data projectors, still and video cameras, and when possible the telephone and fax. All these IT tools are essential elements in a good enquiry based programme.
