Waikerie Lutheran Primary School is a supportive Christian community, equipping each student for life.
Message from the Principal
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
Today, the Year 6/7 class travelled down to Faith Lutheran College in the Barossa, joining 500 other Lutheran Primary School Kids to celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week. This year, Australia celebrates 175 years of Lutheran Schooling. What a great thing it is to know that over this period of time, many, many students have been connected to Christ through their schooling. In chapel this week, please join us as we will be planting a commemorative tree to mark this milestone in the history of Lutheran schools.
I am proud that our Lutheran School (like all others) strives to provide the best possible education we are capable of (because of our motto ‘All things through Christ’). We prepare students for a successful life as an adult. I am more proud of the fact that we prepare kids for life beyond this earth. We give them an opportunity to learn about Christ and what he has done for them. Jesus says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6. In our Lutheran Schools, we teach so that kids are prepared for successful lives as adults, and as children of God.
We pray:
Thanks God for Lutheran schools. Help us to fix our eye beyond this world on you. Amen
Have a great week,
Adam Borgas

We would like to place signage for hall parking, but felt awkward placing signs that just point towards ‘The Hall’. Please SMS all entries to the school mobile phone number 0457265337 (on the front of the newsletter each week).
There will be a prize for the winning entry, valued at $50.00. The winning entry will be a name that suits the ethos and culture of our Lutheran school and the community in which it lies.

Carpark Within the next week, the council will be sealing the last 10 metres of the exit to the school property. If you are leaving the school at this time, please cautiously exit the school via the ‘old front entryway’ onto McCutcheon St. Also, please be aware of the new signage that will be installed on the exit at this time that will indicate ‘Right Turn Only’. This has been a directive from the council to install these signs and is a legal requirement from the date the signage is installed. Thanks for your consideration during the finishing of this project.
Corner of Peace For me the word that keeps coming up this week is “new”………so that is what I let my mind think on. (Thinking so often leads me in strange or unexpected directions!)
In the past weeks children have been learning about recycling in their classes – making something new out of something old. It turns out that we all have learnt how some old things (like plastic bottles for example) can turn into something new (like that new fleece jacket we bought.)
But concentrates and open thinking leads me to agree with Solomon after all! – There is nothing new – not really! We may have a “new” object (whether a house, a car, a jacket or a pencil) – but is it really something totally new! After all it is made up of many “old” things that were already available to be used, and formed into something we now call “new”. It may feel new and we may enjoy it and consider it “new” – at least for a while – but it is not really something totally new and original with nothing “old” in it. We are just not creators ………just re-creators.
The closest we can ever get to creators is when we have a baby. This beautiful baby is a truly unique and new creation – and we got to have a part in that – however the “new” life the baby has is just something we personally cannot give to it – not really! We have the ability to snuff out that life! But if the baby dies – can we give it life! From personal experience I can assure you that, if that newborn child is actually dead, neither we nor medical staff can give it “new” life. That is the prerogative of the divine not of humanity. New life that we have a part in by giving birth, is amazing, precious, exciting and such a privilege …….. But it is not ours to give!
In the first verse of the Bible we hear about something totally new – a universe out of chaos - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, the earth being without form and empty. Different people may have different ideas of how that happened but they would all agree that it was really something “new”. God makes a further promise about something even more unimaginably amazing and wonderful for us in the future. He tells us in Revelation 21:1-5 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea……………… 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
God bless you all

Years 3/4/5 Camp West Beach 2014
What an awesome time we had! It was rewarding to see our students experiencing some many different and new things. Throughout the 3 days students cooperated and worked together in mixed groups to be inquirers and thinkers at the art gallery. They put their creativity to use in building their own hermit crab amusement parks. They were risk-taker who showed commitment and how to be principled in learning to ice skate. And when ten pin bowling they were caring, cooperative and tolerant towards one another and their abilities. We certainly kept our selves busy and I’m sure they all enjoyed a quiet and relaxing weekend. A massive thank you to the students for their fabulous attitudes and participation. A huge thank you also to the parents who gave up their time to assist us.
