On Oetobr 5th, the new Novlce Class sfsrted with 25 enthusiastic part4cipants. The first meeting lntrodueed everyone to the coursm and was highlighted by WBEJJ, Jay Holladay's demo af the clubs 220 repeater wlth Dick W&el KBGJBH end Sid Johnson WB6WH corning back. On our second meeting Jay Wolleday previewed tha video 'The New World of Ham Radio" for the class whleh Is quite sntertalning. For the second week the 'Tuna In the World" books wlll be In and we'll really Mart cracking. I was surprised there was not more enrollees right dter the earthquake and all. But a ten week course l a somathtng you don't leap lnto wlthout some prior deltberatlon. So now Is the time to prepare for the next one, which could be the "Big One", by upgrading your license or helplng the rest of your family get on the air. If YOU need help with the coda we have floppys for the tBM, ROMs for the Commodore, tapes for your cassette, and doeurnentation for the exam at all Imvels. What? October already? Where did September go? This information Is from the UDX Bulletin dated 50 September. No more recent version was here at the time of preparation of tbis article.

ANDAMAN ISLAND - The p e r i d of this operation has been changed to 5-26 October. The call will be VU4GDG and it will be operated by ten VU amateurs. Operation is planned on 10-160 meters both phone and cw. The only specific frmquencles glven are between 1840-ISSOkHz, 3500-3550 kHz, and 3 6 9 5 0 & 3800(L) for ssb.

CAMEROON - Look far TJlOL from 45002 following propagation from 14025, to 21025, to 28025 kHz. Ha occasionally operates ssb near 21330 kHz.

HEARD ISLAND - YKOHI wlll put Hoard Island on the air for a whols year on 10 through 80 meters at any time now.

MAURITIUS 'ISLAND - 3BIFU operates on 14215 kHz from 03002. The 381 preflx Is a speclal one they are authorized to use through 1 November.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - P29SR is the ona with the loud signal on 21299 kHz between 0200 and 03002.

REUNlON ISLAND - FRSES llkes 7005 kHz from 0300Z and 14195 kHz from 16002. In the near future, he will be operating from Europa, Glortwq and Tromelin Islands. Thasm are all great catches. Look for him!

WESTERN SAHARA - Thla operation seems to have been temporarily put on hold due to reasons unknown. They are still expected at any time.
