DAY 1: Johannesburg / Nairobi Airport / Nairobi Meet and greet by a representative of eXplore Plus Travel & Tours at OR Tambo airport at the Kenya Airways check-in counter 3 hours before the scheduled departure for your flight to Kenya. The package includes return economy airfare with Kenya Airways from Johannesburg to Nairobi Airport (departing at 12h10 – arriving at 17h15). At Nairobi Airport, our friendly safari team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at the Eka Hotel (standard room) with dinner & breakfast included. ***Check with us as Kenya Airways also offer direct flights from Cape Town to Nairobi.

DAY 2: Nairobi / Amboseli National Park Distance from Nairobi the park: 240 km

After breakfast, we will meet our guides. And after a short briefing, we head south to the Amboseli National Park, stopping en-route at a supermarket in Nairobi for last minute shopping (buy drinks to enjoy in your vehicles while on safari – remember we have mini fridges in our vehicles to keep your drinks cold). Amboseli is known for its huge elephant herds and dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. We'll arrive




at the Lodge in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Sometimes described as ‘Africa's Elephant Park', it is true that the area is one of the best places in Africa to observe elephants at close range. Aside from this, there are 56 known animal species in the park, and you are likely to see zebra, white-bearded wildebeest, eland, buffalo, hartebeest, hippo, giraffe, waterbuck, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle and impala. If you are lucky, you may also come across big cats such as lion and cheetah, as well as hyena. Overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge (standard room) with lunch, dinner & breakfast included.

DAY 3: Amboseli National Park Enjoy a full day in Amboseli with game drives. In the early morning, it is a wonderful experience to see Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds. If the clouds clear, wildlife photography against this dramatic backdrop is particularly rewarding. The diversity of the landscapes matches the variety of wildlife at Amboseli. From swampy wetlands and lush woodlands to the sprawling savannah and dried-up lake, the park boasts some truly spectacular scenery. Overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge (standard room) with lunch, dinner & breakfast included.

DAY 4: Amboseli National Park / Lake Naivasha Distance between the parks: 325 km

Early morning game drive in Amboseli, catching your last views of Kilimanjaro before we leave for Lake Naivasha, a lake in the heart of the spectacular Great Rift Valley. Driving down the scenic Great Rift Valley with breath-taking views of Mt Longonot and Lake Naivasha. Arrive late afternoon at Lake Naivasha. Grassy banks hugged Lake Naivasha and shingled with trees; the Rift Valley's only freshwater lake and highest lake (at 1,884m above sea level). Overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (standard room) with lunch, dinner and breakfast included.

DAY 5: Lake Naivasha / Masai Mara National Reserve Distance between the parks: 235 km

Enjoy an early morning boat excursion on Lake Naivasha, with plenty of photographic opportunities of mammals and birds. The lake is fringed by papyrus and with the extinct Mount Longonot as a backdrop. The birdlife is beautiful and includes fish eagles, white-breasted cormorants, ospreys, lily-trotters and black crakes. Some animals can be found grazing in the lake environs, such as zebra, impala, giraffe, and hippos. We leave the lake area behind and drive through the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve, followed by an afternoon game drive in the park in search of lions and leopards, herds of plains game and elephants, beautiful birds and elegant giraffes. Return to lodge as sunset. Overnight at the Ashnil Mara Camp (tent) with lunch, dinner & breakfast included.

DAY 6: Masai Mara National Reserve Optional Activity: Balloon Safari

Book an early morning balloon safari (will be for your account and is not included in your package – highly recommended by us) and enjoy floating over the Masai Mara with its enchanting scenery and fantastic wildlife or enjoy a full day with game drives. The annual highlight is the Great Wildebeest Migration (between end July and end of October), creating one of the world's greatest natural spectacles. The wildebeest create a magnificent sight when they enter into the Mara and cross the crocodile-infested waters of the Mara River. Overnight at the Ashnil Mara Camp (tent) with lunch, dinner & breakfast included.




DAY 7: Masai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy a full day in the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives (or a full day game drive). With luck, you will see some of the "Big Five", and most certainly you will be impressed by the wide variety of species present in this area. The Masai Mara has the highest concentration of land mammals compared to all other parks in Kenya! The prime location of the camp makes it possible for you to explore the banks of the river at daybreak (this is something a lot of the other lodges cannot offer). Owing to the proximity of the river, you are ideally positioned to photograph the massive herds of wildebeest as they gather and ultimately start crossing the Mara River. Overnight at the Ashnil Mara Camp (tent) with lunch, dinner & breakfast included.

DAY 8: Masai Mara National Reserve / Nairobi / Johannesburg Distance to the airport: 280 km

After breakfast depart with en-route game viewing, driving through Maasai land before heading up the rift escarpment to arrive late afternoon in Nairobi for your onward flight home (departing at 20h50 Kenya time, arriving at 01h05 South African time). End of service COST OVERVIEW…
