General Specification
The above parameters to be followed as minimum. Drive shall be supplied, considering the following
guidelines –
1. Drive shall be used to run an AC Squirrel Cage Induction Motor.
2. Application of this drive is to run a passenger ropeway, where system will start at full load (i.e.
100KW) and run at constant torque mode.
3. Drive shall be equipped with phase sequence monitor and any phase sequence shall be
acceptable to drive.
4. Drive shall be interlocked with other auxiliary loads, like motor air blower, gear box oil pump,
service brake, emergency brake, chain haulage and spacer.
5. Drive shall be run in following modes –
I. Normal full speed with ramp : 2.75 m/s
II. Maintenance Speed (approx 30% of full speed) with ramp : 0.60 m/s
III. Jog forward with ramp : 0.25 m/s
IV. Jog Reverse with ramp : 0.25 m/s
6. Positive and Negative ramp for different mode of run shall be adjustable. There shall be
following types of ramp –
I. +Ve 0-16 Sec (for normal and maintenance run)
II. +Ve 0-4 Sec (for Jog)
III. –Ve 0-16 Sec ( for normal stop in case of normal run and maintenance mode)
IV. –Ve 0-10 Sec (for Emergency Stop Type-I)
V. –Ve 0-6 Sec (For emergency Stop Type-II)
Ramp curve shall be selectable either linear or ‘S’ profile.
7. Drive should be capable to deliver minimum 150% torque at 1 Hz output
8. Drive shall keep its own memory with Lithium battery to keep set program. Drive shall be
programmable and the program shall be ready to copy and paste for future use. Drive shall be
able to store at least 16 previous faults in memory on FIFO sequence.
9. Drive shall be equipped with suitable memory card, to keep the program saved in case of
Lithium battery ageing or failure.
10. Drive shall have additional inbuilt following protections –
I. Lightning & surge protection
II. Heat sink temperature protection with Microcontroller monitored thermal sensor
III. IGBTs shall have soft recovery freewheeling diodes to prevent IGBT failure when
subjected to motor discharge spikes.
11. Ropeway running parameters – Supply voltage, Supply Current, Power Factor, Motor Voltage,
Motor current, Speed, output frequency and load kilowatt shall be designed such that these
parameters can be displayed at drive panel and at an auxiliary control cabinet simultaneously.
12. Drive shall be designed as overloading capacity given in drive specifications.
13. Drive shall be capable to run without any speed feedback with 1% speed regulation. However,
vector control shall be applicable using a Tacho / encoder with 0.1% speed regulation.
14. Drive shall be capable to run for 15 minute every hour up to 18% regeneration mode. Generated
power shall be absorbed by the auxiliary load, connected to local grid.
15. Drive shall be supplied with a touch control mimic display (HMI). The display shall be suitable to
communicate with drive and PLC both. For communication, suitable medium of communication
to be selected considering 30 meter distance of mimic from drove panel. Graphics design shall
be such that a user can start and stop ropeway in all mode of operations from mimic panel. In
mimic panel, ropeway faults also to be configured including ropeway parameters e.g. ropeway
speed, supply voltage, motor voltage and frequency, load on drive, etc.
16. Drive panel shall contain –
I. 5A, Switch & socket – 1 Set in each cubicle
II. Thermostat controlled Space Heater – 1 Set in each cubicle
III. Panel illumination with door operated switch – 2 Set in each cubicle (for both front and
back side)
17. Provision shall be made to feed Control supply from two sources with an internal changeover
switch.
18. Panel wiring shall be done with FRLS type flexible wire. Wire size shall not be less than 1.5Sqmm.
All wires shall be single core multi-strand/ flexible copper, PVC insulated HFLS/ ZHFR grade as
per IS: 694 and shall be 660 V / 1100 V with 99.97% pure electrolytic grade bright annealed
stranded bare copper conductors. Special parameters of HFLS/ZHFR PVC insulation like critical
oxygen index, temperature index, smoke density and flammability test shall conform to relevant
IEC and ASTM Standards.
All wires shall be colour coded as follows:

19. Component selection shall be done as per ‘Type-2’ coordination.
20. Power Cable termination provision shall be made for incoming and outgoing cables.
21. All live parts shall be covered with transparent cover to avoid any unintentional touch
22. Drive panel shall be equipped with ventilation fan, to maintain drive performance at full load,
considering a room temperature as 300C.
23. Control power supply for drive reference shall be regulated.
24. All power electronics components of drive shall be suitably selected to withstand inverse
voltage.
Other Requirements –
1. Panel Supply, testing and commissioning shall be in scope of vendor
2. All internal components, wires, cables, etc shall be in scope of vendor.
3. Panel components shall be as per approved make, as per attached list.
4. 3 sets of Drive software and drawing shall be supplied along with panel. Drive applicable
software shall be of latest version. Update of the software shall be made available online or off
line free of charge till the drive useful life.
5. Panel testing shall be witnessed by company representative
6. Applicable commissioning spares shall be supplied along with drive.
7. Vendor shall furnish a list of recommended routine spares.
8. Drive and panel shall be guaranteed for a period of 1 year from drive commissioning.
9. All software work shall be in vendor scope. Parameters configuration, including graphics design
in mimic display also shall be in vendor scope.
