Meeting of NOVEMBER 12 1983 held at the home of Dwight amp Carolyn Swanson AI I Board Members were present

Guests attending the meeting were

RUSSEL amp DOTTIE THOMAS JEFF amp LOU ELLIOTT STEVE KENNEDY

AI I have joined the Club and were welcomed by al I

Our President FRANK AMBROGIO discussed a letter he ~eceived from George Krem President of SOC in South Bend George discussed the functions of the various officers in SOC His letter wil I appear in TURNING WHEELS and any of you may obtain your own copy of the letter at our next meeting

FRANK stated that he had sent a letter to Don Curtis who is in charge of SDC Chapter Chartering explaining our plans to become a Chapter when the Club grows

FRANK passed around an information pamphlet he had designed and asked for comments andor changes It was accepted as-is and Editor RUTH WILCOXSON wi I I prepare and copy them for distribution to prospective members

The Board then considered the proposal by Frank to offer reduced membership prices for people joining during different times of the year After some discussion it was agreed that anyone joining after AUGUST 1st of any year wi I I be paid in ful I unti I OCTOBER 1st of the next year

CAROLYN SWANSON stated that the post cards used to inform any would-be STUDEBAKER owner of our club are ready for distribution Each member was given a few cards to be planted on STUDEBAKERS sighted on the streets to inform the owner of our Club and how they may receive more information

the presidents podium November 14 1983

Here we are in our second month of organization and I think we can all give ourselves a pat on the back for a job well done We received three new family memberships and considshyering the time frame involved I think this shows some good results I would like to welcome these members to the Club

I was really impressed at our last meeting by the work and diligence exhibited by our Board OUr first Newsletter put out by RUTH WILCOXSON was a quality product and we should all thank her for the super job she did As more material is submitted by OUR MEMBERS I look for our NEWSLETTER to be a first class publication that will be a fine reflection of our Club I want to stress that ANYONE can submit articles for publication and I encourage all of you to do just that We should of course always strive for accuracy of our facts especially related to STUDEBAKERS

We also owe our thanks to our Membership Director CAROLYN SWANSON and Treasurer LUCILLE GREEN for the time and effort they expended in getting the word out about our Club to the many area STUDEBAKER owners listed in the SDC Roster The response did not cause the Post Office to hire a ton of new employees but the important thing for all of us to remember is that now these folks KNOW WE ARE HERE Over 50 letters went out which is a lot of addressing stamp pasting and letter sealing This month they are going to do the same and include our new information pamphlet and registration form This pamphlet has everything they should need to join our Club All this mailing with Christmas card season just ashyround the corner may cause them to end up with lock jaw

It should be obvious to even the casual observer that we have the nucleus of a goody hard working dedicated group of STUDEBAKER lovers and I am looking forward to working with all of you in our efforts to make the ORLANDO AREA STUDEBAKER CLUB a S U C C E S S

Frank J Ambrogio

VPs note bull I have asked the Editor to include in this newsletter a registration form for Restorations 84 an AACA sponsored open one day event Events such as this are excel lent opportunities for us to show our enthusiasm for STUDEBAKERS I encourage every Club member to wax up their pride-n-joy and show that the ORLANDO AREA STUDEBAKER CLUB has ARRIVED and is here to stay February is the month for lovers And I LOVE STUDEBAKERS 11 I be there to prove it Please join me and make a MODEL-A driver nervous

From the Wi Icoxsons and in behalf of al I the STUDEBAKER CLUB MEMBERSHIP I wish everyone a very safe and happy hoi iday season

Fred D Wi Icoxson

Activities Director DWIGHT SWANSON stated that there were no activities planned at the present time however it is decided that ~i I I have a Christmas Party fol lowing our next meeting on DECEMBER 10th Each parent wi I I provide a present for each of their own chi Idren $3-$5 price range The party wi I I be BYOB amp RSVP

FRANK suggested that now that we have a few more members that we should think of having a Vice-President FRED WILCOXSON agreed to serve as current VP It was then pointed out to our new members that the current slate of officers would serve only ti I I Apri I first of 84 in a temporary capacity and then a new Board wi I I be elected

FRED suggested that with the background RUSSEL THOMAS has with STUDEBAKER he might consider writing a series of articles for our newsletter No commitment was made but there was favorable reaction by al I members present

FRED also asked JEFF ELLIOTT if he might consider writing a series of technical arshyticles for the NEWSLETTER JEFF said that he would keep the thought in mind again no commitment was made

FRED suggested that al I be on the look-out for GRAND OPENINGS of shopping centers etc so that we might display our cars at one of these functions and generate some revenue and publ icity for our club
