WHY DOES VIRGINIA TECH NEED A DANCE PROGRAM? No academic opportunity for dance No where on campus to take a dance class, besides
Zumba Only dancing opportunities through VT are dance
groups with performing aspects Limited opportunity for students and adults in the
Blacksburg/Christiansburg area (discuss more later) Support dance organizations
Ballet Project, Ballroom Dance, Bamboom Dance Crew, Bhangra, Black Student Alliance, Clean Cut Dance Crew, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, Dance Company, Dancing’s Our Poison, Dancilla, Dhamaa Dance Team, Fusion Dance Team, HighTechs, Hill and Veil, Irish Dance, MusiTech, Polynesian Dance and Fire Club
WHY VT REC SPORTS? Unify dance community on campus Bring in a new population So many dancers on staff already ( 17 ) Cross over (already offer Zumba, BodyJam) Trend- what other Rec Sports are doing Studios in the area are beginning to catch on

2, 6 week sessions Multiple styles and levels of dance Each format has different # hours per week Ex: BALLET
3 hrs/wk (1.5 hr class) $85 per session Breaks down to $7.08 per class, $4.72 per hr Drop-in rate
Minimum of 3 participants to break even, any more is profit
2 options: pay by hour or pay by dance style Dance style is more fitting for Rec Sports Usually pay by hour at a dance studio
Compared to Center of Dance 15 weeks, 570$ = 12.66 per hour
