DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL AND COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY, AND SPECIAL EDUCATION
The University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Education offers the first and only professional Master’s program in Canada to address the vocational effects of neurological, physical, sensory, mental health, neuropsychological and pain-related disabilities and chronic illness.
h A completed four-year undergraduate degree and at least a 76% average on all senior-level credits.
h Three recommendations from educators and administrators that speak to your engagement with disability issues, counselling and rehabilitation.
h Resumé and a 600-word statement of career aspirations, indicating how you think this program (along with your current education and experience) can help you achieve them.
You are encouraged to submit additional information regarding professional or volunteer employment experience, publications, or awards which you feel should be taken into account in considering your application. If you have been out of university for more than two years, this information is mandatory.

Note: Demonstrated past relevant coursework, professional training and work experience can be considered by the Admissions Committee on an individual basis in establishing course equivalencies and pre-requisites/co-requisites.
FOCUS ON VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION COUNSELLING
This UBC program provides an evidence-informed, state-of-the-art, interactive and engaging graduate program over a three-year period. Orientations and/or seminars held at UBC or affiliated clinical sites will offer a distance option for those who are not able to attend in person, and clinical courses can be done with a qualified supervisor in your location, making this program accessible to professionals across Canada.
Highly trained vocational rehabilitation professionals are a key prerequisite to the success of Canadian rehabilitation and employment programs for persons with disabilities.
UBC’s graduate program is an essential component in addressing nation-wide labour shortages in these leadership positions.
