TRACEY HARRIS

AIDEN GABRIELS

Born and raised in Port Hedland, Tracey began learning the trumpet at aged 8, but due to the fact she lived in a mining town trumpet teachers were few and far between. She quickly moved onto the flute until she was sent to Presbyterian Ladies’ College in Perth as a boarder where she was able to pursue multiple instruments. After completing year 12 she attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts studying Classical voice, and later on continued her musical studies at the University of Melbourne studying trumpet under Tristram Williams.

Currently Tracey is a trumpet tutor at multiple schools in Perth and performs with numerous brass bands, orchestra’s and other ensembles around the city. She is currently studying to be a classroom teacher and hopes to travel around the world to bring the joy of music to others less fortunate.

Aidan, born in Perth comes from a family of four all starting violin at a young age. He was introduced to violin at the age of five and at 10 he received a scholarship to begin studying the French Horn at John XXIII College as a part of the band program.

Aidan has received tutelage from some of Australia’s leading Horn players, including Robert Gladstones, Peter Luff, Ysolt Clarke and Ben Jacks.

Aidan began his tertiary study in 2012 studying a Bachelor of Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (continuing to study with Robert Gladstones.) In 2014 Aidan moved to Brisbane to continue his bachelor of music. He moved to Melbourne in 2017 to begin tutelage at the Australian National Academy of Music and is now based in Sydney apart 2018 Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship program.

Aidan has made appearances with orchestras all over Australia, including the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Camerata of St Johns Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, among others. A long-term member of the Australian Youth Orchestra, he recently toured to Europe and China, performing in some of the world’s most renowned concert venues as part of the AYO 2016 International Tour.

TOM SALLEO

JASON CATCHPOWLE

Tom Salleo is a Perth-based trombonist involved in many aspects of the local music scene. At age 19, he is going into his third year at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, studying a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance.

Tom began his musical journey learning piano at age 6 and picked up the trombone later at age 8. A former student at Trinity College, he is well versed in both Classical and Jazz styles which is attributed to his participation in a great number of bands and ensembles, some being under the leadership of the Director of Music at Trinity College, Dr. Robert Braham.

In the process of furthering his career, Tom attended two exchange programs in the United States earlier this year, to New York University and the Brubeck Institute where he studied with some of the greatest and most influential jazz musicians or our time.

Jason Catchpowle is a native of Great Britain. He moved with his family to Perth, Western Australia in 2007 and has since moved to Melbourne in 2014. Jason had his first musical training from the age of five with piano lessons. Later he joined the music program at Churchlands SHS and had the opportunity to learn an orchestral instrument. Unfortunately Jason joined a year after the program start and had to pick between the Euphonium or the Tuba as his second instrument. Fortunately Jason made the right choice and has experienced an enduring love for the velvety sound of the tuba. Jason has studied at WAAPA, ANAM and the University of Melbourne.

Jason has performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and is also a casual at the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. Jason’s teachers have included Cameron Brook, Steve Rossé and Tim Buzbee.

translationThe Wexford Carol

Ó, tagaig’ uile is adhraigíAn leanbh cneasta sa chró ‘na luíIs cuimhnígí ar ghrá an RíA thug dár saoradh anocht an Naí.

‘S a Mhuire Mháthair i bParrthas Dé,Ar chlann bhocht Éabha guigh ‘nois go caomh,Is doras an chró ná dún go deoGo n-adhram’ feasta Mac Mhuire Ógh.

I mBeithil thoir i lár na hoích’

Ba chlos an deascéala d’aoirí,Go follas don saol ón spéir go binnBhí aingle ‘canadh ó rinn go rinn.“Gluaisig’ go beo,” dúirt Aingeal Dé,“Go Beithil sall is gheobhaidh sibh É‘Na luí go séimh i mainséar féir,Siúd É an Meisias a ghráigh an saol.

Oh come all and adoreThe kind baby in the stable lying down. And remember the love of the KingWho gave the infant tonight for our liberation. And his mother Mary in God’s ParadisePray gently for Eve’s poor family,

And never close the stable doorThat I may henceforth worship the son of young Mary.

In Bethlehem east in the middle of the nightShepherds heard the good news,Clearly, sweetly from the sky for allAngels were singing from point to point.“Go quickly” said God’s angel,“Over to Bethlehem and you will find himLying peacefully in a grass manger,Behold the Messiah who loves all.”
