Le Moulin sits proudly on the banks of the river Célé in its own valley known locally as‘La Vallée du Paradis’. Surrounding the property is the dramatic National Park of Causses du Quercy, an area covering 185,000 hectres and boasting some of the most beautiful countryside in all of Europe. The Célé valley evokes a feeling of wild mystery; castles on the cliffs and ancient landmarks wait to be discovered only minutes from Le Moulin. The gentle flow of the Célé river, running through the eastern end of the property, has provided a sheltered, bountiful environment teeming with wildlife for thousands of years. Our early neighbours even had the time to paint magnificent limestone cave images at Pech Merle, dating back to 25,000 BC and only a 15 minute drive down the Célé valley. Le Moulin is nestled in 15 acres of mature gardens and meadowland, encompassed by high limestone cliffs giving it a surreal quality of‘other worldliness’. One feels protected, nurtured and rooted by these cliffs in a way which can only be experienced first-hand. Beauty, nature, fun and relaxation are the only qualities that become relevant within minutes of arrival. A trip back to civilisation is provided by therenowned and remarkably beautiful villages of Saint-Cirq-Lapopie or Rocamadour, both within 30 minutes’ drive.

With plenty of space to enjoy each other’s company, it also provides the often needed ‘quietspots’ for reading and having time for contemplative relaxation away from it all. The main terrace is furnished withcomfortable director-style chairs, a dining table for candle-lit ‘al fresco’ dinners and a fire-pit to warm beside whilstenjoying the star-filled night skies. A mature vine provides the perfect shady canopy over the kitchen terrace wherebreakfast and lunch can be enjoyed with the backdrop of the river below and the soothing sound of the babble ofriver water.

The Tower’s sitting room doubles as our indoor entertainment/games space for both children and adults. There isa large flat screen TV, extensive collection of classic DVDs (including plenty for children), board games, an uprightpiano and guitar. A wonderful huge, raised open fire-place provides the warmth and ambience for cooler evenings. The terraces that surround the three properties all enjoy uninterrupted views of the grounds. Steamer sun beds areplaced beside the river bank and by the pool - there is no better a place to spend a sun soaked day.

The accommodation is made up of three properties. The Miller’s House - the heart of Le Moulin. The Tower - connected to the Miller’s House by a 20 metre raisedterrace with the river on one side and swimming pool and gardens on the other. The Accommodation

  • The river bank lends itself effortlessly to a leisurely holiday. Where adults can sunbathe or snooze in the shadedhammocks, whilst half listening to the sound of friends and family having fun around them. Children adorecarefree days larking in and around the river and pool, but we have to remember ‘safety first’. The river bank is onlyaccessible via The Miller’s House, which is lockable. and the pool also has locked gates on each entrance.

The tennis and croquet lawns are cared for beautifully by our groundsman, Patrick. An afternoon tournamentfollowed by rosemary infused G&T is a well-known Moulin favourite. The river bank all weather table tennis isworthy of the keenest of champions and can be celebrated with a cooling hop into the river. Archery can be set upon the tennis court. There is also good trout fishing on the Célé, with the river being stocked up stream at Figeac. Two rods are available for early morning or early evening fishing.

There are two house kayaks which are kept on the river bank, one a three-man and the second a two-man.Lifejackets for all ages are provided. Upon request, Patrick can take a party of kayakers upstream where they canthen spend the afternoon drifting back to Le Moulin river beach, a truly blissful way to spend a balmy summers day.Bike rides and picnics along the river valley are also wonderful Moulin occupations, and Marion can help arrangethese. There is a barbeque on the terrace as well as the fire pit which has a grate and doubles as a riverside barbeque. The river bank also has a set of tables and chairs so all meals can be enjoyed riverside.

Additional accommodation is available in the nearby village of Marcilhac-Sur-Cele (itself a stunning village) whichMarion can arrange and is a 5 minute drive from Le Moulin.See our website for more info: www.lemoulinsurcele.com/grounds-gardens

  • By AirToulouse (Blagnac) is the closest major airport. It is a very small but efficient International airport due to Airbusbeing based in Toulouse. It is served three times a day (morning, midday and evening) by British Airwaysfrom Heathrow Terminal 5. EasyJet from Gatwick also flies three times a day (morning, midday and evening).

There is a very good and simple hire car set up at Toulouse airport. To be on the safe side, book one when youbook your flight, however they generally seem to have availability. Both collection and drop off of hire cars is verystraight forward and well-staffed.

Driving from Toulouse AirportThe drive is between 1hr 45mins - 2hrs. GPS is obviously recommended.Be sure you have the correct Saint Sulpice (not the one in Northern France). We have registered ‘Le Moulin Sur Célé’ on Google Maps. With the house name entered, it takes you down the driveand to the front door.

By Train from Toulouse-MatabiauThere is a direct, fast service from Toulouse Matabiau (central train) station to Figeac Station. It takes 2hrs 15mins and is hourly throughout the day, however please check for updates on SNCF:https://en.oui.sncf/en/#/Figeac is a 20 minute drive from Le Moulin along the valley. You can get a taxi at the station.Toulouse Central is a 20 minute taxi from Toulouse airport or there is a bus/shuttle service.

Chauffeur TransferMarion can also arrange a chauffeur transfer, picking up at Toulouse Airport and dropping off to Le Moulin.
