We have a new resident on the Felician Village Campus, however, it has no name. We are asking all residents, family and friends to help name our new dog, donated by Gardens resident, Dorothy Bauer.Visit the Felician Village Facebook Page - www.facebook.com/felicianvillage during the week of September 18 and watch for the “Name The Dog Contest” post, then please comment on the post with your favorite name/s for the St. Mary’s Home Dog. The winning name will be announced the week of September 25 on Facebook. The dog is a new option now available at St. Mary’s Nursing Home. It is designed to bring comfort, companionship and fun. The robotic dog has “realistic” fur and makes dog noises and “familiar, dog-like actions.”Each robotic dog has sensors that respond to touch; Petting either of the pup's cheeks will make it nuzzle your hand, or gently rub its back to experience a heartbeat sensation. With BarkBack tech-nology and a soft, built-in heartbeat, the Companion Pet Pup is a lifelike pet alternative. It looks, sounds, and feels like a real dog; when the pup's 'owner' speaks, it looks toward them and reacts with realistic puppy sounds. If you don't interact with your pup for a few minutes, it will go to sleep and can be easily woken by walking it around or giving it a gentle pat on the head.

What do Bristol-Myers Squibb, Marathon Oil Company and Felician Village have in common? They were all founded in 1887 and are celebrating their 130th year in business in 2017. In today’s fast paced and ever changing environment for a business to be 130 years old and not only in existence but thriving is absolutely AMAZING! Back in 1887, the first three Felician Sisters arrived in Manitowoc and along with Father Luczycki, who had fled a year earlier from Poland, started St. Mary’s Home. The three sisters – Sr. Mary Veronica, Sr. Mary Felicita, and Sr. Mary Martha – cared for orphans and the aged in a rented two-story home in Manitowoc. Now 130 years later, lay employees continue to follow the Felician Core Values as they provide care to the elderly living on the Felician Village campus. Four Sisters are still assigned here to help influence and guide the Felician ministry – Sr. Odelle, Sr. Michaeleen, Sr. Bernadette and Sr. Gabriella. We kicked off our 130th celebration with Family Fest in September and now in October there will be a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 8 from 9 – noon in the Wisconsin Room. Cost will be $1.30 Also be watching for a flyer featuring all the other events in Mission & Heritage Week which will be celebrated October 2 – 8.I hope you are able to join us as we celebrate this milestone and honor our Felician history, starting with the Foundress of the Felician Sisters, Blessed Angela, and all the Felician Sisters who sacrificed and worked diligently since 1887 to help shape the Felician Village we know today.

Peace and All Good,

Honoring our VeteransLocal Amvets Post 99 provided a wonderful afternoon of social activity for our Veterans this past August 9th at Felician Village. After a fun game of Bingo the Veteran’s Military group gave each Veteran in attendance their choice of a T-shirt or cap. Many of the Veteran’s shared their military stories. The day ended with a tasty bowl of ice cream.
