This time of year also marks the formal end of summer in Maine. The sidewalks are gone and so are the people; they have closed up their camps for the winter. Today, September 11, is the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack on American soil and a reminder that innocent lives are very fragile and the gift of life is so precious. Today is also the anniversary of the day that our lives changed forever when Lisa Marie Bagley, our first -born daughter, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The good news is that we have much to be positive about. Our second born daugh- ter is with child and our grandson is expected to arrive November 6, 2014. We look forward to a bright future and as old people we will be working to keep up. For the Florida SIDS Alliance this is the season to begin its fall events. We are final- izing four workshops for the end of September in four different locations to provide training for Health Professionals: September 26th - Fort Myers; September 29 th - Pen- sacola; September 30 th - Marianna; and October 3rd- Sarasota. We still have space; if interested contact [email protected]. We are once again planning a Poker Run this October in conjunction with Bike Week that involves bringing awareness of Infant Health to the public and to new families. More details and ways to get involved are in this issue of the newsletter. October is SIDS Awareness month and for many families in Florida it is a time to re- member. Last week I celebrated yet another birthday — it beats the alternative but the conse-

quences are still a reality of the life cycle. This time of year also marks the formal end

of summer in Maine. The sidewalks are gone and so are the people; they have

closed up their camps for the winter. Today, September 11, is the anniversary of the

worst terrorist attack on American soil and a reminder that innocent lives are very

fragile and the gift of life is so precious. Today is also the anniversary of the day that

our lives changed forever when Lisa Marie Bagley, our first-born daughter, died of

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

The good news is that we have much to be positive about. Our second born daugh-

ter is with child and our grandson is expected to arrive November 6, 2014. We look

forward to a bright future and as old people we will be working to keep up.

For the Florida SIDS Alliance this is the season to begin its fall events. We are final-

izing four workshops for the end of September in four different locations to provide

training for Health Professionals: September 26th - Fort Myers; September 29th- Pen-

sacola; September 30th- Marianna; and October 3rd- Sarasota. We still have space;

if interested contact [email protected].

We are once again planning a Poker Run this October in conjunction with Bike Week

that involves bringing awareness of Infant Health to the public and to new families.

More details and ways to get involved are in this issue of the newsletter.

October is SIDS Awareness month and for many families in Florida it is a time to re-

member. It can be a time to celebrate the lives of those who blessed us with their

presence and now remain with us in our memories. Continued on page 2
