“Lakshmi” Pressing His feet. The depiction is symbolic allegorical as Mahatma Sri Lalaji Maharaj indicates, That is: the serpenrt adi-shesha stands for carnal desires; and goddess Lakshmi who is pressing the Lord’s feet signifies Maya. It means the Maya becomes the slave of one who acquires mastery over his carnal desires. The rest of the story is the creation of those people who want to maintain prestage of dominance on lay-innocent people to exploit their devotion, As the times went on degenerating grossness began to increase. Similarly, Another allegorical reference is Shiva the Cosmic Deity is dipicted receiving river-Ganges falling on His matted-Hair, from Cosmic – Void. The intelligence of people became stony, and the took these stories as everything. The cosmic brain from which light comes to mind is called Mount Kailash.and god-Shiva releases The Cosmic-Consciousness from His Knotted Hairs in different phases. , It comes into ephimeral utility in steps “as if released” from Knots of Consciousness.

While cleaning at point (B) with the “Pranahuti” as tool, in some Abhyasis the dark-spots in the heart, persistently recur despite of best of the efforts. This may be due to release of ‘Sanaskaras’; from the causal body, of sub-conscious mind. The pracritioners of Sahajamarga Sysem of Meditation are advised to give more attention to cleansing process while being in their personal sittings of meditation at residence and preceptors are advied to go-for indepth penetrating mode of cleaning the astral system with patience, without hurrying the process. Through cleaning of the astral-channels is the primary function of the preceptor.Judicious care is to be taken while bestowing’Power’ on the spiritual seekers to avoid wrongful application on others. All noble pious thoughts should be implimented immediately without delay to avoid the emergence of

contradictive ideas,Likewise, dely by postpone, the implimentation of constricted negative ideas; the sacred scriptures insist by indication, this aspect for harmoneous human psychich relations:

Satyam priyam, hitam prochya, na yataartha katitham

        स यं िप्रयं िहतं प्रो य न यताथर् कितथं       “Kalyanna Hitam Satyam Satyam Sarva Hitam Proktam”

         क याण िहतं स यं स यं सवर् िहतं प्रोक्तं Meaning:”Truth,is the one of telling pleasantly, and Welfare; not actual words of incidence”

Self is all-pervading. The state of Pralaya (dissolution) comes in when contraction begins to takeplace. Similar contraction in man leads to his individual Pralaya (dissolution). Tis means that he bigins to proceed from his state of grossness to the real state.Performing meditation in up-right sitting position is highly advantageous; in that position divine grace descends straight upon the practitioner (abhyasi). There are three levels of consciousness; viz. higher, lower and middle levels or phases.Devatas, i.e. deities, occupy higher levels of existential consciousness, The Astral worlds starting from below to top-levels of consciousness are arranged as:

Satya Loka, Gnana Loka, Tap o Loka, Mahar Loka, Souver Loka, Bhuvar-Loka, Bhuloka - - - - - - - - - - -

Scriptures on human Astro-psych system have for the purpose of maping spiritual progress have discovered the above enumerated astral-worlds as located on human-body system:

Intuition of Eternity

Reality Para Brahman expresses as infinity through the finite media like human body and other fauna; that is the paradox of Creator’s creation. Human beings and other beings of lower-order forget their infinite immortal nature of Soul, Atman due to orientation by social induction to limited-finite body-mind individuality nature of being. He sees at the young stage of life the phenomenon of births and deaths in social group and forms the idea subconsciously of birth and as an inescapable trait of his being. This phenomenon, he carries as natural part of Transmigration-trait, of evolutionary cycle of consciousness. Common man in general is aware of gross material aspects of life. Spirituality and enquiry in to Soul, Atman is the subtlest transcendental aspects of phenomenon; therefore, it requires re-orientation by studious cultivation of the mind-psych from solid-gross body-mind, thought of self, to transcendental non-material existential life as his true and real life individuality. Obviously, it demands constant association of persons who are in the same light of approach to the problem, Of course it is not that easy to get the right-association with godly-men, as denoted in the following verse:

Durlabham trayamevai Tatdevaanugraham Manushyatvam Mumukshatvam Mahapurusha samstrayah” दलुर्भम ्त्रयमेव ैत देवानगु्रहहैतकुम ्–

Meaning: These are three things which are rare indeed, and are due to grace of God, namely, a human birth, the longing for Liberation, and the protective care of a perfected Sage”

( Ref: Vivekachudamani”-Sl.3;by, Bhagavan Adi Sankara)

“ i “ means referral to solid gross body mind conglomeration. In fact, ‘I’ the Pure-Consciousness is reduced to ego (i) as referral denote when wrongly applied as meaning to body-conscience, which is its objectified form as consciousness. It, the ‘i’ as ego, regains its true-original form of denote pure-consciousness (I), when the body-mind, as objects are deleted from its format-fold of object conscience; i.e. removal of denoted object from its fold of format, It The (I) remains in its true form of Consciousness, the very Base (Aadhra )of creational process. That is What You Are, viz. The Pure Absolute Consciousness (Chit-Swarupa) on that Base (Aadhar) ; on which the Name-and-Form of objects are based during the creational process. Scriptures (Shastras ) proclaim ‘It’ as “ Though Art That” ( Tat Twameva).

Knowers of Self (Atman- Gnani) indicate that ‘It’ is ‘hidden’ and masked by deep zone of “Mental Silence’ (Mano-Muna)’ and one has to ‘Silence’ his mind-psych of all thought disturbance. In fact mind is nothing but Consciousness in ‘Thought-disturbance” as pointed in the following verse: -

’Yathu Chenchalata Hinum Tan Manoo Amruta Uchyate

Tad - Evacha Tapaha

Shastra Sidhante Moksha-Uchatae” यथ ुचे चलता हीनं तन मनो अमतृ उछत े

Page 8: INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT News Bulletin - 2014_09 - Web.pdf · nature level starting from “Atala” ending with “Patala”, where most of the animal,

तद एवच तपह शा त्र िसधानत ेमोक्ष उचत ेMeaning: “The mind where in all thought disturbance

dissolved, that state is Immortal. That is the result of highest penance. Shastras (Scriptures) proclaim it as Moksha i.e. release from the painful transmigration cycle of repeated birth and death” ( Ref: Mahopanishad,5-101)

Eternity is infinite and is Immortal (Amrutatava) Endless (Ananta). In Indian mythology Eternity, Ananata is symbolized as ‘Bed of folded Serpent’ (Shesha Sayee) for creator God called as “ Vishnu”. It is interesting, to note that the anatomical surface structure closely resembles like folded serpent depicted in mythology as stated before. It, the Eternal (Ananata) is “Time” (Kaala); and ‘Time’ (Kala) is the projection of Mind-psych. It ‘The Time’, is at the foundation of creational process. When, mind is withdrawn by suspension, such as sleep or drug-influence the projection of ‘Time’ as creational process comes to standstill. Creation is “withdrawal and projection” as the alternative function of mind. To empirically understand Soul, Atman, one’s mind has to become the subtlest instrument of apprehension, because Soul is the subtle of all the subtlest, conceptual entity. The gross mind-psych has to be cleaned of its dust made of gross micro-impressions (Sanskaras). In Sahjamarga System of Raja Yoga operation, we have a particular technique for cleaning the Sanskaras from the causal-body. As mind-psych becomes lighter and subtler, the intuition of Self, Soul, Atman becomes clearer and clearer. And, a time comes when intuitional perception becomes “as clear as an apple fruit on the palm” of your hand. All problems get solved; Self, Soul, constantly and, continuously get flashed in your mental vision, ‘As Your Own’; on day to day practical existential life his consciousness becomes universal. It means ‘i’/I as notion’ for him is not the body-mind ego, but, The

Base-Foundation-Consciousness as (I) which is common to all Human Beings, on which particularized conscience of “ Name and-Form of ‘ Mr./Mrs. So and So’, denoted as ’i’. This is in fact is The Real Universal ‘Brother – hood’ conception should be based. At this juncture of spiritual evolution, whoever says ‘i’ he intuitively feels addressed to Him-alone as Consciousness “I”. All these changes in normal conscience become possible by meditational technique based on ‘Pranahuti’ Divine-power transmitted by Guru, who is himself firmly rooted in Brahman-Consciousness.

Ramana Maharshi’s concept of “I” (“Aham Vritti” or Applied Consciousness) Vs

IUSCM’s concept of “I” (“Universal Self Consciousness)

The universal purpose behind all religions and spiritual doctrines is to identify and connect with the invisible Supreme Force which is objectively obscure and abstract to the human mind; hence the different definitions and approaches to reach this so-called supreme force commonly termed as “God”. Hindu philosophy stems from the revelations of several Maharishis (“Seers of Yore”) as a result of severe penance (“Tapas”) to

Page 10: INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT News Bulletin - 2014_09 - Web.pdf · nature level starting from “Atala” ending with “Patala”, where most of the animal,

demystify the conundrum of Universal Creation-Sustenance-Destruction cycle, both at a Macro-cosmic as well as Micro-cosmic level. They concluded that the base of all universal existence and non-existence is a homogeneous, undifferentiated substratum on which the heterogeneity of various names and forms come and go; and that the real goal of human life is to escape the thralldom of life and death, by knowing this universal truth and becoming one with it. To fulfill this goal, several techniques such as - Ritualism (Karma Marga), Devotion towards an object (Bhakti Marga), Introspection (Gyana Marga) and Meditation (Dhyana Marga), have emerged to suit the needs of different people at different stages of evolution.

One such Saint of the 19th century, Ramana Maharishi from South India, has succeeded in influencing thousands of people across the world using his technique of Introspection called “Self-Inquiry”. According to him, every conscious activity of the body or mind revolves around the assumption that there is an ‘I’ who is doing it. He called this common factor - the “I” thought (“Aham Vritti”). All activities of the mind such as ego, intellect, memory are different forms of the same “I” thought. If such prolonged inner awareness of “I” thought is sustained, the individual “I” (“Applied Consciousness”) disappears and in it’s place there will be a direct experience of the “Supreme Self” (“Pure Consciousness”). Whereas, Institute of Universal Consciousness Movement (IUSCM) founded by Sadguru Swamiji Chillapa, takes a different approach.

Swamiji revealed by his empirical formulae:

Formula 1: ix1, ix2, ix3, ix4, ix5………… = I∞

Formula 2: I∞ + [0(ix) = 0] = I∞ = Absolute Awareness Where

Page 11: INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT News Bulletin - 2014_09 - Web.pdf · nature level starting from “Atala” ending with “Patala”, where most of the animal,

I∞ = Absolute Consciousness (Pure Consciousness) = Para Brahman i= Applied Consciousness x= Name and Form

ix= Ego Consciousness In formula one, he expounds that the Universal Self

Consciousness/Absolute Consciousness (Universal I = I∞) is the underlying common base (Adhara), on which several individualities, Ego Consciousness (ix1, ix2…) come and go. And that Ego Consciousness (ix) is nothing but embossing of Name and Form (x) on, the Applied Consciousness (i) that is the inner awareness that takes responsibility for all activities of the mind. In formula two, he elucidates that, multiplying ix by 0 [0(ix) = 0], i.e. annulling the Ego Consciousness, using prolonged practice of Dhyana Yoga (Meditation) technique, with the help of Pranahuti (life force from Hiranyagarbha – the Macro Cosmic Mind), transmitted through the Guru who is a walking talking Para Brahman Himself, will gradually lead to a state of natural equilibrium (“Sahaja Samadhi”) transcending the dualities of life, dawning the Becoming of the Pure Consciousness (“Para Brahman”). It is a gargantuan task to trans-mutate the Ego Consciousness to become such Pure Consciousness (“Para Brahman”) just by “Self Inquiry”, as the Ego by itself, lacks the ability to transform itself, except in the case of selected blessed individuals.

Therefore a Self-Realized Guru, through the power of his transmission will immensely help in expeditiously progressing towards this ultimate goal.

We pray to the Master to shower his blessings to the entire Universe!

Respected Tatagaaru,

Namaskaaram. Today a miracle happened. I was worried for quite some time now thinking how my meditation will continue when my in-laws come here. As they always had opposed anything that was proposed by my family. But today my husband told them about the meditation and they were just fine. This is a miracle. I am so relieved. Although my meditation practice has not been up to the mark I have experienced that all my issues were automatically taken care of ever since I was initiated. This is only because of your blessings. Thank you for being there as always. I surrender.

Sincerely,

I: To dear Swamiji,

One other thing that I have been doing to help in times of mental thought disturbance is repeating the sloka that Swamiji included at the end of Master's message in the July SNB: All activities are carried out by Brahman.

So thank you for thy divine wisdom.

II: To dear Swamiji,

Namaskaram. How are yourself and Mataji?

Please find below a brief update of my spiritual journey of late. It has been a very interesting past few weeks.

Sat 26th July:

Samskara arose bringing alternating feelings of anger and sadness. They seemed to come in waves. But the interesting thing was, that as the emotions were arising, I could still feel normality at the same time. It was almost as if I could see the emotions as separate entities. This is difficult to describe, however I think that the crux is that I did not identify with the emotion. At the time I was feeling the anger, but I was not the anger. I had a sense of separation from it. I don't think that I had ever truly seen/felt that separation before.

This is something that in the past I had obviously understood intellectually, as it is a core principle of IUSCM and SMRY, however I felt like through this experience Master was showing me the true nature of self as not being the mind; it felt like Master was showing me that distinction/separation. The past few weeks many deep-seeded old samskaras/patterns/habits have been arising continuously which has been challenging. It feels like it is an exhaustive measure as part of a transition. At times I have felt a little helpless, but I realize also that these samskaras are beyond my

Page 15: INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT News Bulletin - 2014_09 - Web.pdf · nature level starting from “Atala” ending with “Patala”, where most of the animal,

capabilities to get over with my human mind. I have been doing my best to surrender everything to Master, as I know that more I surrender, the more Master's grace and power can flow.

This evening, I felt a little lighter, and a little less bound by the usual habits and stresses of the mind. Post evening transmission, divinity seemed to saturate my being, and a sense of deep-seated overwhelming love that almost brings you to tears.

Thank you Swamiji, for everything, I hope that all is well in Hyderabad.

Thy own self, Tara Menon

Quotable Quotes

(1) By Audi Guru Sri Lalaji Maharaj

“Samyojta” is that spiritual state in which the lover and the one he loves i.e. the beloved, their existence become one, there is no difference (or separate identity) left between them. On reaching this state of “Yaft” or “Samyojta”, there remains no fear of falling down. The true realization of ‘Truth’ occurs only in this state. In the sequence of questions and answers now it was the turn of- -”Tajjali-e-joat”. Tajjali literally means light or brilliance. In the context in which the question was asked, it referred “Adhyatm Jyoti” (the spiritual light) or “Noor-e-Haq” (the Divine Light). It is that state of illumination where the ‘Mayavi Prakash’ (physical light)

has no access. Such a bond of love exists only when gets absorbed in true love. It is a way of Samadhi or ‘Muraqaba’ (meditation) and the purpose is to evoke “Jaukiya Prem”. ‘Jauk’ is the name of a special state that comes after relishing something i.e. the state where one retains the memory of the thing relished and longs for it. Such a meditation takes one to the goal”.

(2) Sri Babuji Maharaj

Thinkers have classified the tendencies of mind under five heads. The first of these known as “Kshipta” is the disturbed condition of mind including all feelings such as hunger, thirst, anger, sorrow, and desires for wealth, fame, etc. The second, “moodha” includes tendencies which promote sluggishness, indolence, or sloth. The third, vikshepa, to the tendency which drives the mind away from sacred thoughts and brings about the haunting of numerous irrelevant ideas at the time of meditation. The fourth, ekagra-vritti, is the tendency which makes our attention fixed on one thing only. The last one nirodh is the tendency which brings the mind to a perfectly self-contained state free rom complexities and disturbances. To achieve this last stage sages have generally advised the well-known Ashtanga yoga (i.e. yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, and Samadhi). Under the Sahaj Marg system of training we start from Dhyana, the seventh step of yoga fixing

our mind on the point in order to practice meditation. The previous steps are not taken up separately but they automatically come into practice as we proceed on with meditation. Thus, much of our time and labour is saved by this means.”

(3) Letter from Saint Kasturiji, Lakhimpur, Dated: 19-5-1956

Revered Sri Babuji, Sadar Pranam.

Hope you would have received my letter. Master Saheb would have also reached there. I hope that you will be well. I am now writing about my spiritual condition, whatever it is, by the grace of Master. My condition is now such that craziness or madness or restlessness never comes but when these existed, there was some bondage or checks in the heart. Now there is neither heart nor peace nor power nor powerlessness. To me both are equal. But if there is any bondage, it is not like that of past. Freedom and bondage are both same to me. To me love and ‘no love’ are both equal. Ah! Will I ever be able to love my Master? Now I see that the limit or the limitation of the restlessness has been and has become a homogeneous plain. Both the conditions i.e., oneness and duality are both same and similar to me. Each and every particle of my body within and outside me is restless now, but what I should do? To

Page 18: INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT News Bulletin - 2014_09 - Web.pdf · nature level starting from “Atala” ending with “Patala”, where most of the animal,

me peace and restlessness have become te same. To call it a sort of craving seems heavier than the condition. If I say ’Ah’ or ‘Hai’, and if I become silent each particle becomes dumb and silent. But I fail to do any aforesaid thing. I see that the word Babuji has become a supreme mantra for me and it has merged with my soul. So far as I hear every sound animate or inanimate, low and high conveys the word “Babuji” into my ears.

I fail to understand what to do? I cannot avoid it. I hide myself somewhere but this sound remains following me. If I have pain anywhere, the sound of ’Babuji-babuji’ comes instead sighing or saying Ah or Hai. It lessens the pain undoubtedly but there is no remedy or cure of this pain. My soul does not allow this pain to rise to a pitch and it cannot come up to a higher level because the secret has not remained a secret now. Where from it may come? The air cannot stay in any cylinder having cracks. The Master is also not traceable that I may tell my tale to Him. Now the condition is such that even the heart does not seem to beat. In other words there are no heart beatings to take the name of Sri Babuji and to remind me of Him. Moreover, no sound is produced even outside. Hence I am unable to hear His name as the sound cannot reach my ears. God knows whether all sounds in the world has died or the screens of my ears are toned otherwise some sound would have reached my ears at a certain point of time. Will anybody never succeed in reminding me of my Master? It seems to me that neither, there was ever any sound

Page 19: INSTITUTE OF UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT News Bulletin - 2014_09 - Web.pdf · nature level starting from “Atala” ending with “Patala”, where most of the animal,

nor it still exists. Hence where from it may come. I await only for this moment, when He may most probably remember me. No thought strikes to me through the day and night to bring me to senses but from where it may come? It may come if it would have gone. I do not know whether I write my condition or not as I find the paper blank. So far as my condition is concerned I fail to realize even the blank paper. In spite of all this my condition a continuous one or myself has become the same. I have lost all interest in doing prayer or singing devotional songs as if somebody stops me from doing so and does not even let me weep or sing. It does not let me become mad. I do not even get peace. Neither I want to hear anything or say anything. It seems to me that the true humbleness is that that there may be nothing but I am neither real nor artificial as if the definitions of all the conditions have become zero. There is neither joy nor otherwise in the condition. Amma conveys her blessings to you and Kesar conveys her pranam to you.

Yours most humble daughter,

Kasturi

(4) Dr. K.C. Vardachari—THEISM AND ILLUSION

“The Self alone remains Absolute. The relativity theory would be inapplicable, and what might legitimately be affirmed is that the relative universe is

relative because of its being related as a counter- pole of the Absolute, whose imagination it is. According to whatever metaphysical view be it idealistic or realistic, the realm of being can only consist of features or factors ultimately pertaining to existence, though by no means utterly and in every sense void of essences: and the realm of being cannot but be also dynamically actual. The real then as experienced by man through his vitality and senses is the world of space-time and limitation or ignorance, and the Real as experienced through his thought and knowledge and introspection is the Turya , the truth free from all types of circumscribed fields or experience. (Ref. P.255-256)

(5) Ashtavakra Gita

Bhavo-Ayam Bhaavanaa-Maathro Na Kinchith paramaartthathah Na Asthya- Abhaavah Swa Bhaavanaam Bhaava-Abhaaava- Vibhaaavinaam”

भवो अय ंभावना मातर - न िकि चत ्परमा थर्तह्

न अ य अभािवनां - भाव अभाव िवभािवनां Meaning: this universe is but a mode of thinking. In reality it is nothing. The inherent nature of the Existent (Self) and of the Non-existent (Universe) are never lost.

Amplification: On awakening to the Reality, when the mind is silenced of its thoughts, the magic of the ‘names and forms’ of variance ceases, and the seeker of Reality,

exclaims in wonder as “In reality it is nothing” . The Sage Ashtavakra declares here the great philosophical truth that the Existent Self and the non-existent universe both can never lose their individual nature. The Self is eternal, permanent, Changeless and infinite; the universe is non-eternal, impermanent, ever mutating and finite. Neither of them can change in their essential nature. Self is Existent; the world is non-existent. They cannot change their essential nature.

Listen, though for doing so, you have to assume the existence of diversity. Your Consciousness will expand. And the Truth that I shall expound will save from sorrow even they are not fully awakened”

Explanation: when one is ignorant, one entertains the wrong notion that the body is the self; his own senses prove to be his worst enemies. On the other hand, he who is endowed with self-knowledge (Atma Gnana) and knows the truth enjoys the friendship of his senses, which are pleased and contented. They do not put him in misery. The Self (Atman) is not affected by the body, nor is the body in any way related to Self. They are like light and darkness. Correct understanding of the body and the intelligence that dwells in the body enables one to understand the entire creation in its material and spiritual aspects. By wrong notion of body as Self-Atman due to absence of light of true knowledge, Nescience, one is constantly and restlessly carried hither and thither like a blade of grass in wind.

Bhakti or devotional-cult means intensive (Kai. up. 2.18) goal aspiration of truth, involving, heart and mind focused together on certain methodological steps subtle enough leading to mental silence (N.B.S.). In any case the test of an effective method is in its degree of subtlety (Sukshmata) devoid of grosser vibrations and motion (K.up., 2-17). Mentally, the experience of

interval between the thought waves is pure consciousness the witness. Silence of mind between thoughts is un-manifested state of Reality known as “Avyakta Pursha. The state of being in the silence is the experience of Avyakta Pursha. The conscious condition that is continuously flowing as a Base (Adhar) underlying all thoughts is Brahman (Ki.up.). Purshothama is a state of consciousness of the Conscious Being, and both cannot be separated (G-14-27). It is experienced as “Aham Vacha Parabrahma” described in scriptures as “Pratyagatma”; that is, conscious Being conscious of its own consciousness. (D.S.7; Ki.up.20,2i; V.PD.8.42; 7-4). It is therefore stated by Lord Krishna, that He is the Base of Brahman,-”Brahmanohi prathisthaham”-(G-14-27)
