GOSPEL CHURCH MISSION
VOLUME 2 October 16, 2016 Number 40
Greetings Southside Family,
“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” (Proverbs 29:18). When there is no revelation given by God through the man of God, the people are unrestrained. “Cast off restraint” means that without the guidance of divine revelation, people abandon them-selves to their own sinful ways. This wonderful verse states that when you keep the law, you will be “blessed” or happy. Obedience to Christ is the key to growth for any believer or church. Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15). In the church world we use the word vision a lot, but actually, we should be talking about the mission. This is the thrust of our series that we have entitled “THE SOUTHSIDE WAY”.
We are rallying around this statement: “Southside Baptist Church is a fellow-ship of believers that is committed to the GOSPEL, connecting people to His CHURCH, and car rying out His MISSION.” When people ask about the purpose of our church, we can quickly reply in three words: GOSPEL, CHURCH, MISSION. As a church family, we need to know who we are, and what God has called us to do. We find those answers in the Bible and through obedience. Jesus says, “I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18). As a church family we are part of something that is powerful. God believes that, do you?
This morning we will look one more time at the word CHURCH before we move on to the word MISSION. This morning we are going to talk about “BECOMING A GROWN UP CHURCH”. “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature man-hood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-13). Christ Jesus is the standard of maturity to which the church must aspire.
What a privilege it is to pastor such a wonderful and caring church family. I would like to thank each one of you that had a part in making the benefit yard sale a huge success. All proceeds from the sale will go to the Morrison family.
For His Glory,
Bro. Stacy

Greetings Southside family,
In my devotional book, Jesus reminds us of how he has brought pleasures into each of our lives. He said for us to enjoy them, but don’t cling to them -but rather cling to the Giver of all good things. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from above. James 1:17
The entire church family is invited to join us for our Fall Festival which will be held at Braswell Christian Camp near Cottonwood on Sunday evening, October 30th from 5:00 – 7:30 pm.
