Carpi, My Italian City
By Anna Verzelloni
“Hi, my name is Anna and I’m an exchange
student from Italy!” This is definitely the
phrase I used the most during my first month
here in the United States, but now that you
already know me, I would like to tell you
something more about where I am from.
I live in Carpi, a town in the north of Italy,
where I go to school and where I play volleyball.
Carpi is close to Modena, which is a big city know for the Ferrari car and
balsamic vinegar, that are both produced there. My town has about
80,000 inhabitants and in Italy is considered a small city, even if for you it
could seem really big.
Carpi is known for the big Renaissance square in the center of the town
and for the Cathedral and the Castle that are both in it.
The square is called Piazza dei Martiri, and it is one of the biggest in Italy.
It’s the place where I usually spend my Saturday nights. I used to eat a
pizza with my group of friends, and then we walk through the square eat-
ing an ice-cream.
The Cathedral is probably the main building in Carpi. In 2012 my city was
hit by a strong earthquake, and many buildings of the historical area fell
down. Luckily the Cathedral was only partly damaged, and now it’s already
rebuilt. The Castle was originally property of the Pio family, and now it is a
museum.
My city is also know for the soccer team, Carpi FC 1909, that in 2015
cliched Series A, the main Italian championship. Gregorio Paltrinieri is an
Italian swimmer that was born in my town and that attended my school,
and he won the gold medal in the 1500 m free style at the Olympic Games
in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Foreign Exchange Students By Ty Meredith
This year we have three foreign exchange stu-
dents, and we couldn’t be happier to have them a
part of our school. Their names are Nienke
Reijnen, Anna Verzelloni, and Oxane Mbiguino
Nienke is originally from the Netherlands. Her fa-
vorite sport is volleyball, and she also likes to ski.
When asked what she thought about Melstone,
Nienke said that it was small but very nice. A fun
fact about Nienke is that she would go to school
by bike and would have to cycle for 40 minutes.
Our next foreign exchange student is Anna Ver-
zelloni, and she is from Italy. She enjoys drawing
and her favorite sport is volleyball. Anna says that
she really likes Melstone because everyone is so
nice, and she feels completely at home. A fun fact
about Anna is that she has taken a plane 146
times. Our final foreign exchange student is Ox-
ane, and she is from France. Her favorite sport is
basketball. Oxane says bas-
ketball is also her hobby.
When asked what she
thought about Melstone, she
said that she thinks Mel-
stone is great and she is
glad to be here. She has al-
ready had a lot of fun and
says the people of Melstone
are very nice. A fun fact
about Oxane is that she can
get lost anywhere she goes.
We hope all of these great
kids enjoy their stay in Mel-
stone!

Swimming Pool Update Submitted by Kathy
Eike After a rather cool, rainy June and a pool filled with a huge al-
gae bloom, the Melstone Community Swimming Pool finally opened on July 6. We were so happy to finally see the bottom of the pool through crystal clear blue water. The late opening made for a short swimming season, but the PE classes used the pool the first few weeks of school, so that made up for lost time. The pool missed out on a couple of fundraisers this year, which really hurt the bank balance. Our basketball night for concessions was can-celled, and we didn’t host any Monday Night Dinners. Also, the Splash Bash, which is typical-ly the biggest fundraiser, was poorly attended, and we grossed only $800. We had a bouncy castle set up at the park, but it was not the draw that karaoke is, so, next year we will be bringing back our all-time favorite entertain-ment, karaoke! A big thank you is extended to Kimber Korrell, our lifeguard, and to all of those who donated time and food throughout the year. In the end, the pool is a positive thing for the kids of the communi-ty. Always remember that the pool is a 501C-3, nonprofit, and all donated money is deductible.
Every Thursday pay a dollar to wear your hat in school!

New Faces By Abby Hansen
This returning school year, Melstone High School has three new faces walking through the halls.
These students are Kayla Kom-bol, Jack Roen, and Nathan Zard. Kayla Kombol is originally from Alaska and came to us from Roundup School. She is a fresh-man and is on the volleyball and cross country teams. Kayla’s fa-vorite sport is basketball, and her favorite subject is math. Be-coming a doctor is what Kayla would like to do after high school. Tyler Kombol, a new stu-
dent from last year, is her older brother. She thinks Melstone is “good” so far. Our next new face is actually not brand new to Melstone High School. Jack Roen has attended school with us in the past years but transitioned to homeschooling his freshman year. He is now back with us as a junior. Jack is originally from Miles City. His fa-vorite sport and hobby is riding dirt bikes with Gus Adams and many more of his various dirt bike buddies. Jack’s favorite hour in school is study hall, and he really likes lunch time. Jack does not have a plan for what he will be doing after high school. Last but not least, Nathan Zard is originally from Forsyth and came to us from Forsyth Public
School. He is a senior and plays football. Na-than’s favorite sport is baseball, and his fa-vorite subjects are math and P.E. His hobbies include hunt-ing, fishing, and camping. Nathan would like to hopefully play college football for Montana Tech after
high school. When asked what he thought about Melstone so far he said, “I like the school and the town’s pretty quiet.” We hope that all of our new faces enjoy Melstone High School and that the whole student body and staff makes them feel as welcome as possible.

With summer over and school officially back in
session, FFA events are also back, and the stu-
dents are ready to start preparing for competi-
tions. Our first official competition of the year will
be the Nile Livestock and Ag Sales contest on Oc-
tober 15th.
The first item of business that the Melstone FFA
chapter took part in this year was the District
Leadership Conference in Colstrip. This annual FFA
event was held to give new students in FFA and
also returning members the chance to meet people
and learn more about FFA. All of the kids had a
good time in Colstrip, and many left with new
friends and a new outlook on the organization.
Since this summer had the officer team’s sched-ules filled, they did not have time to get an officer retreat in. Now they are planning to take the day September 21st to go over everything needed and also to just bond and have fun with one another. On behalf of the Melstone FFA officer team and the whole chapter, we thank you for your support and look forward to a wonderful year.

Anna Verzelloni Ingredients for 4 people:
- 4 cups of flour purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tablespoon of baker yeast
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 8 cups of water (more or less)
- a pound of mozzarella cheese
- 1 pund of peeled tomatoes or pizza
sauce as much as you need
- Olive oil as much as you need
- Basil as much as you need
- Oregano as much as you need
- Salt as much as you need
How to make homemade pizza:
1) Melt 1 1/2 ta-
blespoon of
baker yeast with
3 1/2 oz. of warm
water and 1 ta-
blespoon of sug-
ar. Add 1/2 cup of flour and mix all to-
gether. Cover with a cloth and let it rise
for one hour.
2) Make the dough: pour 3 1/2 cups of
flour and spread it on your kitchen ta-
ble. Put the yeasted dough you got from
step 1 in the middle and add from 5 to 8
oz of water (it depends from dough to
dough) and 1 tablespoon of salt and
knead until you form a uniform ball. Oil
it and draw a cross over it. Then leave it
rise covered with the cloth for 2/3 hours.
3) After 2/3 hours start working the
4) Put the dough in an oiled baking tray
(14x18 inches) and flatten it all over the
tray. The border must be higher than the
rest of the dough. Cover it with a cloth
an let it rise for one hour more.
5) Put whatever you want on your pizza,
but I really recommend you to put to-
mato sauce, fresh tomato’ slices, moz-
zarella slices, a pinch of oregano, a
pinch of salt and some oil.
6) Cook the pizza in an already hot oven
(about 430 degrees) for 20-25 minutes.
7) When the pizza is cooked, put on
some basil.
8) Hope you‘ll like the real Italian pizza!
Super Troopers 2
By Harry Griswold
Super Troopers 2 came to
theaters on April 20th, 2018,
more than seventeen years
after its predecessor Super
Troopers. The movie intro-
duces its knuckle headed
characters in a way that
doesn’t break the flow of
the movie. With a produc-
tion budget of $13.5 million,
the movie has an impres-
sive array of actors, such as
Rob Lowe, comedian Jim
Gaffigan, and Fred Savage.
The cast is presented with an unusual task, and
they bring their Mustachio shenanigans along for
the ride. The movie is one hour and thirty-nine
minutes long. If you are already a fan of the
original movie, then this sequel is a definite
watch. If you like silly carefree movies give it a
go. If you ever wondered if police officers could
be really funny, then I suggest watching it. If
you are thinking of watching it and haven’t
watched the original, I would suggest watching
the original movie first because otherwise you
won’t understand the plot. To me personally this
is the only downfall of this movie. Cinema Score
rated this movie with a B+ based on an A to F
scale. Personally, I give it eight out of ten.

Ingomar Ranch Rodeo
Submission by “Linda Lou”
“I have been to a whole bunch of ranch rodeos,”
mused a spectator from Hardin, MT. Hanging out
at the crow’s nest, “and I never miss the Ingomar
Ranch Rodeo! I like it the best” A whole lot of folks
must have felt that way, as the number of gath-
ered spectators for this year’s Saturday and Sun-
day competitions, just about doubled the folks as-
sembled from the previous year. Folks came, they
saw, they laughed and cheered as Saturday’s La-
dies Ranch Teams, and Sunday’s Sanctioned
Ranch Rodeo crews delivered roping, riding, bronc
busting, cow-milking…and then some.
From the first rope thrown to the final bronco
bucked, the Ingomar Labor Day Ranch Rodeo was
a crowd pleaser. The announcer, Andrew Johnson,
knows the team members, ranching (he’s a cow-
hand himself), and how to get the crowd involved.
Famous quips for the day included, “Folks, it’s a
lot quieter out there right now
than it would be on the ranch”
The cook shack (honchoed by
Emily Olson, Mary Ellen Ryan, and
Helen Rath) sold out of about
everything but ice; the old timers
(Mel Kincheloe and Lavetta Weed-
ing) were plenty busy and accurate; stock contrac-
tors Pat Cremer, TJ Newman, and the 71 Ranch
delivered big time; while judges Bill Harding, Bill
Greenfield, and Rodney Vance kept a smooth run-
ning arena, truly on their toes at times, as they
dodged maverick longhorn cows that were circling
the fence.
“It’s pretty amazing that a town of 15, with a ro-
deo club of 7 delivers two rodeo competitions eve-
ry summer,” chuckled Ingomar Rodeo Club secre-
tary Alice Cameron, as she checked entrants in,
noted times, answered questions, kept up the
event board tally, wrote out participant checks,
and kept track of what was next. Things got busier
than expected during Saturdays evening’s Big
Loop roping event which had already been held
twice, when rodeo club director Donald John Cam-
eron (who could see that folks wanted to rope
some more), came up with a special event, re-
ferred to as a “Two head Progressive.” The unpre-
dictable kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The top team in the Women’s Rodeo on Saturday
went to the Gumbo Girls, Top Hand went to Mela-
nie Johnson, Top Horse to Jana Kelly, Top hand
went to Trevor Ross, and Top Horse went to Gillian
Severe.

BPA has started this year, and it will begin with concessions for Play Day. BPA is selling hot dogs and burgers, and the community is welcome to come. If you would like to pre-order hamburgers or hot dogs, contact Mrs. Wacker. The Melstone BPA chapter has 18 members so far, but students have until the end of September to sign up. The mem-bers will soon be preparing for regionals to be held at MSUB on Monday and Tuesday the 17th and 18th of December in hopes of making state and then Nationals in California. Nationals is April 30th through May 5th. With the start of the new school year, the newly elected BPA officers will have a fall conference in Fairmont Hot Springs. Before Christ-mas, the BPA members will also be selling pizza kits and maybe setting up community dances.
