There was an enthusiastic response from the university departments and affiliated colleges which vied with one other to put up exhibits. All the stalls were arranged in one place in the Central Block of ANU College of Engineering & Technology. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada on 16-12-2011. ANU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Viyyanna Rao presided over the function. The Guests of Honour included Sri K.S. Lakshmana Rao, M.L.C., the Principals of the ANU Colleges, and Prof. N. Samuyelu, OSD, while Prof. Y.P. Ramasubbaiah, Dean, College Development Council, was the Convener of the event. The exhibition attracted hundreds of visitors, especially students from schools and colleges.

ACADEMIC EXHIBITION

ANU hosted the second annual Academic Exhibition during 16-17 December 2011 on the campus. Therewas an enthusiastic response from the university departments and affiliated colleges which vied with one otherto put up exhibits. All the stalls were arranged in one place in the Central Block of ANU College of Engineering& Technology. The creativity and innovativeness of the young minds came to the fore in the crafting of theirexhibits.

The Academic Exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. I.V. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. NTR University ofHealth Sciences, Vijayawada on 16-12-2011. ANU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Dr. Ruben Berrocal, National Secretary & Ministerfor Science, Technology and Innovation, Republic ofPanama visited Acharya Nagarjuna University on 5-12-2012,accompanied by Dr.K.S.J. Rao, the Advisor to Ministry ofS&T, Republic of Panama and Director, INDICASAT andMs.Claudia Guerrero, Director, International Relations,SENACYT, Panama had interacteracted with Universityadministration, Principals of various University colleges andDeans of Faculty and discussed the various collaborativeprograms with ANU and INDICASAT, Panama in variousacademic activities leading to PhD and Masters program invarious disciplines and addressed the faculty, researchersand students of the University.

Prof. MVN Sarma was relieved, upon request, of hisduties as Registrar of the University on 8 November 2011.Appointed as Registrar on August 14, 2008, Prof. Sarmahad worked hard to bring in administration reforms whilein Office. His efforts at computersing administration andexam results in particular are memorable. In a felicitationfunction arranged on the occasion of his laying down office,Vice-Chancellor I/c Prof. K.V. Rao, Principals of ANUColleges Prof. G. Prasad, Prof. B. Syam Sundar, Prof. Y.Siddaiah, Prof. Babu Rao, OSD Prof. Samuel, faculty andnon-teaching staff lauded his role in the development ofthe university.

DEPARTMENT OF BIO-CHEMISTRY workshop. Prof. B. K. Sinha, former member of NationalStatistical Commission and Visiting Professor of Statistics,Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkatta delivered the key-noteaddress. Prof.G.S.R.Murthy, Indian Statistical Institute,Hyderabad; Prof. Arivarignan, Madurai Kamaraj University,Madurai; Prof. K.V.S.Sarma, S.V.University, Tirupathi; andProf.K.L.A.P.Sarma, S.K.University, Ananthapur gavelectures on the topics of the National Workshop.Prof.K.Viyyanna Rao, Vice-Chancellor (I/C), ANUinaugurated the Workshop. Prof.G.Prasad, Registrar (I/C),Prof.B.Syam Sundar, Principal University College ofSciences spoke on this occasion. The OrganizingCommittee honored the distinguished teachersProf.B.K.Sinha, Prof.V.L.Narasimham, and Prof.C.V.Rao onthis occasion. This workshop was organized with UGC –DRS – I Project funds. Prof.K.Rosaiah is the Director ofWorkshop and Prof.G.V.S.R.Anjaneyulu acted as Treasurerof the Workshop.

The Department of Bio-Chemistry organized a NationalSeminar-cum-Workshop in collaboration with RAS LifeSciences Pvt, Ltd., Nacharam, on Emerging Trends inMolecular Diagnosis, during 25-26 of November 2011,sponsored by UGC & AP State Council of Higher Education.The seminar was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, I/CProf. K.V. Rao and was presided over by Prof. B. SyamaSundar, Director of the Seminar, and Principal of UniversityCollege of Sciences and Coordinator of the Department.

During the first day of the seminar, latest trends in thefields of Molecular Biology, Nanotechnology, Biomaterialsand stem cell technology were discussed by the delegatesfrom CCMB, IICT, and KIMS, Hyderabad. Various techniquesand methodology involved in the detection of causativeproteins/genes to diagnose particular infectious or non-infectious diseases were explained to the students tofamiliarize them with the current research trends.

For the benefit of the young researchers, theDepartment also organized a workshop during the secondday, in collaboration with RAS Life Sciences, Hyderabad,who are Champions of Novel Diagnostic assays, on “Handsat PCR”, a vital technique in several diagnostic laboratoriesto detect various diseases for proper treatment.

The Department of Statistics organized a NationalWorkshop on Design of Experiments and OperationsResearch during 8-9 December, 2011. 120 delegates fromvarious Universities and colleges participated in this

DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGYA national seminar on Advances in Hygiene

Sciences, Biodivesrity and Aquatic Toxicology wasconducted by the Department of Zoology and Aquacultureon December 18th and 19th 2011. Vice-Chancellor (I/c)Prof. K.V. Rao, presided over the inaugural function. Worldrenowned pharmacologist Dr. C.N. Ram Chand gave theinaugural address. Prof . G. Prasad, Registrar (I/c); Prof. BSyama Sundar, Principal, University College of Sciences,ANU; Prof P.D Prasada Rao, FNA, NEERI; Prof Ch. Srilatha,Professir of Toxicology, SV Veterinary University, Tirupathi;

DEPARTMENT OF TELUGUTelugu Academy, Hyderabad; Agri Gold, Vijayawada

and the Dept. of Telugu & O.L. Acharya Nagarjuna Universityjointly conducted a National Seminar on the works ofKavisamrat Viswanatha Satyanarayana at Vijayawada ,from 10 to 12 December 2011.

The Young Scientist Convention (APAS-YSC-2011) was held on 27th and 28th October, 2011 at ANU,Guntur. Prof. K. R. S. Sambasiva Rao was the OrganizingSecretary of YSC-2011 which was organized jointly byDepartment of Biotechnology, ANU and Andhra PradeshAcademy of Sciences (APAS), Hyderabad. Prof. K.V. Rao,Vice- Chancellor (I/c), ANU, delivered the inauguraladdress. Dr. Ch. Mohan, Secretary, (APAS) delivered theKeynote address on scientific discoveries. The Chief Guestof this convention Dr. W. Selvamurthy, Chief Controller,DRDO, conveyed the importance of Science andTechnology.

The presentations were conducted in four categories– Physical sciences, Chemical sciences, Life sciences andEarth, Ocean and Atmospheric sciences. Awards weregiven to best presentations in both oral and postercategories. The Young Scientist’s Convention providedstrong motivation to the researchers to do advancedresearch.

Department of Chemistry, ANU conducted a One DayNational Seminar on New Frontiers in Chemical Research(NFCR-2011) on 19th November 2011 in in recognition ofservices of Prof. P.V.V. Satyanarayana.Dr. B.Hari babu,Asst Professor, was the Convenor of the seminar and Prof.B. Kesava Rao, Head of the Department was the OrganisingSecretary. The Inaugural session had Prof. B.SyamaSundar, Principal University College of Sciences, as thePatron of the seminar, Prof. G. Prasad, the Registrar I/c asthe Chief guest and Dr. G.S.Raju, Chairman, Siris Group ofCompanies, Vijayawada as the guest of honour. Prof.MS.Swaminathan, Annamalai University; Prof. S. Jeena,Utkal University; Dr. G.V.Subba Raju, Chairman, NatsolLabs; and Dr. G. Trimurthulu, Vice-Precident, Laila Impexgave invited lectures. The valedictory function of theseminar included Felicitation to Prof. P.V.V.Satyanarayana,former Professor of Chemistry. 54 research papers werepresented by the scholars from different universities andfrom non-academic centres.

College. The Inaugural function was presided over by SriS.V.S. Somayaji, President, Hindu College Committee. Prof.B.Syama Sundar, Principal, University College ofSciences, Acharya Nagarjuna University & Chairman,Organizing Committee delivered the inaugural addresswhile Prof. Sankara Rao, Principal, Bapatla AgriculturalCollege; Prof. S.J.Rehman, ANGRAU, Hyderabad; SriS.Ravibabu, Principal, Hindu College; Sri G.Y.N. Babu ofHindu College Committee and. Dr N.R.B.Sastry, Reader inChemistry, Hindu College & Director of the seminar spokeon the occasion. Fifty one papers were presented in thetwo day seminar of which eight were from other states.Padmasri G.

Narasimharaju Yadav inspired the participants to gofor Organic Farming. The seminar was attended by about200 students and researchers. The valedictory function waspresided over by Sri M.V.R.K. The Department of Environmental Sciences, ANU,organized a National Seminar on Environment andSustainable Development sponsored by the UniversityGrants Commission, New Delhi and Andhra PradeshPollution Control Board, Zonal Office, Vijayawada, during28-29 October 2011. The Seminar was presided over byProf. K.V. Rao, Vice-Chancellor. Dr. P.V.S.S.K. Vinayak,Director, Centre for Earth Science Studies, Cochin, was theChief Guest who delivered the keynote address on theclimatic changes in India. Prof. G. Prasad, Registrar I/c,Prof. B. Syam Sundar, Principal, ANU College of Sciences,and Prof. P.V.V. Prasada Rao, Former Member of APPollution Control Board, Hyderabad were the Guests ofHonour. The Seminar was attended by delegates fromdifferent Universities belonging to Seven States viz., UttarPradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala,Gujarat, Maharashtra States, besides Four reputed Researchorganisations and seventeen Universities from AndhraPradesh. A total of 160 delegates participated in the two-day National Seminar. 68 delegates presented researchpapers in Five Technical Sessions.

Dr. Ambedkar Chair, ANU, celebrated the 55th DeathAnniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on December 6, 2011 inthe campus. Prof. R. Venkata Rao, Vice-Chancellor ofNational Law School of India University, Bangalore,delivered the Memorial Lecture as Chief Guest while Prof.K.V. Rao, Vice-Chancellor of ANU presided over themeeting. Sri K.S. Lakshmana Rao, MLC., Prof. Prasad,Registrar I/c, several teaching and non-teaching staff,students and research scholars were present.

Braille Day was celebrated in ANU campus on 3-12-2011. The meeting was organized by Acharya NagarjunaUniversity Differently - abled Employees and StudentsWelfare Association and presided over by Prof. K. VenkataRao, President of the Association. The Chief Guest of thefunction was Prof. K. Viyyanna Rao, Vice-Chancellor I/c andGuest of Honours were Prof. G. Prasad, Registrar I/c, Prof.N. Samuel, OSD., Dr. K. Veeraiah and Dr. K. CENTENARY OF THE NATIONAL SONGANU celebrated on 27-12-2012 the completion of

100 years of the composition of the National song of IndiaJana Gana Mana by Sri Rabindranath Tagore . The Vice-Chancellor of Sri Krishnadevaraya University Prof.Ramakrishna Reddy was the Chief Guest for the functionin which ANU Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.Viyyanna Rao andother officials participated.

The CSE department of University College ofEngineering and Technology organized a National seminaron Image Processing and Applications on 3rd and 4th

December 2011. Prof. N. Nagabhushan, Director of MysoreUniversity, delivered the keynote address on “Frontiers ofResearch in Image Processing”. Around 112 delegates from32 national and international institutions participated in theseminar. Padmasri Deekshatalu of University of Hyderabaddelivered a lecture on “Image Segmentation” and Prof. V.Vijaykumar, delivered a live lecture on “Content Based ImageRetrieval and Medical Image Classification Techniques”.Scientist Ch. Sreenivas of NSTL, Vizag, demonstrated howImage Processing Techniques are used in the NavalTechnologies. Mr. Ravindranath of CMC explored theessentials of color image processing. Prof. E. SreenivasaReddy acted as Seminar Director.

WORKSHOP ON RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCESAND THEIR INTERCONNECTION WITH POWER GRID

The EEE department of ANU College ofEngineering and Technology organized a UGC Sponsoredworkshop on Renewable Energy Sources and theirInterconnection With Power Grid on November 12th and 13th,2011. Sri D. Manikya Vara Prasad, Hon’ble Minister forRural Development, Govt. of A.P., was the Chief Guest andSri K.C. Kumar, G.M. of Solar Semi Conductors Pvt. Ltd.,Hyderabad, was the Guest of Honour for the inauguralfunction. The other resource persons were Prof. M. Sidulu,NIT Warangal; Prof. B.K.Murthy, NIT Warangal; Prof.

entered into an MOU with Efftronics IT Company,Vijayawada, to provide training and employmentopportunities for staff and students of the college. The MOUwas signed by the Registrar and the representative ofEfftronics, Mr. Rama Krishna, in the presence of In-chargeVice-Chancellor Prof. K. Viyyanna Rao and others. Prof. K.V. Rao said that the MOU would facilitate greaterunderstanding of the dynamics of engineering education.Giving a broad outline of the MOU, he further said facultymembers of the engineering college would be providedtraining by personnel of Efftronics, which would facilitategreater institution – industry cooperation in the near future.

Principal of the college Dr. P. Siddaiah said thatstudents pursuing B. Tech. would be provided stipend undera programme in which students would be working onprojects. The Research and Development wing of the collegewould work in close tandem with their counterparts inEfftronics. TRAINING PROGRAMME ON COMMUNICATIONSKILLS, SOFT SKILLS AND PROGRAMME SKILLS

University College of Engineering and Technologyorganized a training programme to III/IV B.Tech. studentson Communication Skills, Soft Skills and Programme Skillson 11th Dec.,2011 under MHRM scheme, ANU. On thisoccasion Sri B. Venkata Reddy, DRDA Project Director,Guntur District, said that they will conduct on and off campusinterviews to the students under Rajeev YuvakiranaluProgramme.

Incharge Registrar Prof. G. Prasad said that theuniversity will provide training for TOFEL, GRE and otherjob opportunities. Principal Prof. P.Siddaiah, OSD Prof.Samuel, Prof. P.V. Ramana Rao, HOD of EEE dept. andProf. Y.V. Reddy were present.

ANU College of Architecture & Planning, which wasestablished in the year 2009, hosted an Architectural studentconvention called ZO-NASA(National Association forStudents of Architecture) between 2nd -4th of October 2011with ‘AXA’(aksha) as its theme.

Architecture students of the states of Andhra Pradesh,Goa and Karnataka took part in the convention.

The inauguration of the convention began on the eveningof 2nd Oct. The I/C Vice-Chancellor of the universityProf.Viyyanna Rao, Registrar-in-charge Prof.Prasad and thePrincipal of University College of Architecture & Planning,Prof. G. Babu Rao graced the occasion along with eminentarchitects Dr.Krishna Rao Jaism, Prof. H. D. Chaya and Prof.Chetan Shivprasad. The inaugural ceremony was followedby cultural events by the students of the host college.

The valedictory function on the evening of 4th October beganwith trophy distribution to the respective winners of the allthe events.The zonal-magazine was released by thePresident of NASA, Ratna Kiran. The programme wasfollowed by DJ performance.

The convention was a huge success in all aspects andwas appreciated as the best zonal-convention in 53 years.

On the final day of the convention, Seminars andWorkshops were conducted by successful architects of thecountry. Casual, formal and informal events were organizedby the host college. In the evening the guest collegesgave their performances and a fashion event with the theme‘Zephyr’ took place with a panel of 4 jury members.

On 20th November National Pharmacy Week (NPW)inauguration was done on the college premises by thePrincipal Prof.A.Prameela Rani along with Faculty, Studentsand other Non-Teaching staff.

On 21st November Elocution, Essay WritingCompetitions were held based on the theme. Informativeadvice was given by the Principal Prof.A.Prameela Rani.

On 22nd November Inauguration of the Pharma Rallywas done by the Vice-Chancellor I/C, ANU, Prof. K.V.Raowho hoisted the flag for the rally in order to create awarenessamong the public about the profession. Around 200 studentsparticipated in the rally carrying Posters, Banners along withslogans.

On 23rd Pharma Quiz Competition was conducted forthe students.

On 24th and 25th, various competitions for differentevents like Dance, Singing, and Skits were organized basedon the theme.

On 27th other events in sports were organized,including shuttle, tennicoit , Cricket, Chess and carroms.

On 29th Valedictory Function was held in the collegewith Prof. K.P.R.Chowdary, as the Chief guest of thefunction. Sri P.Vinay Kumar, Guest of Honour addressedthe need of the pharmacist to educate public as “Pharmacista Medical Expert, not merely a medical dispenser”.

On 29th in the Afternoon Session a Guest Lecture wasdelivered on “Reasearch Medhodologies in PharmaceuticalSciences” by Prof. K.P.R.Chowdary. The Chairperson wasthe Principal Prof.A.Prameela Rani. Prof. Veeresam,Principal, Kakatiya University, the Chief guest of Function,delivered a lecture on “Recent Scenario of PharmacyProfession in world and Pharmacy Education in India”. Theweek long celebrations ended with prize distribution to allwinners of various competitions.

On 26th, Free Medical Camp and Health awarenessProgramme were conducted by students and facultymembers in nearby village Kaza which was graced by theRegistrar I/C, ANU, Prof. G.Prasad and Village Sarpanch.The students carried banners and distributed Pamphlets toall people to educate them about cleanliness and preventivemeasures to be taken for Dengue fever. The camp endedwith free distribution of Medicines.

He said that the best energyresource for electricity is the Nuclear Power. He in his livepresentation mentioned that because of high consumptionof electricity for the past three decades, there would bescarcity of non-renewable resources of coal, solar energyand water in future. Training Programme in Sewing Machine Repair &Maintainence to the Tailoring Trainees

The department of Lifelong Learning organized a oneday Training Programme to the Tailoring Trainees in “Sewing

Dr. V. Venkateswarulu, Head, Dept. of Sociology &Social Work of ANU, inaugurated the programme. Mr.Karimulla was the Resource person for the Programme. 32tailoring trainees got benefited by this programme.

He demonstrated how to disassemble the importantparts of the machines by explaining the function of eachpart and how it has to be maintained.

Training Programme in Leaf Plate & Cup Making

The department of Lifelong Learning organised a weeklong Training Programme in “Leaf Plate and Cup Making”on 12th December, 2011 in SC Colony of Gopalpuram Villageof Addanki Mandal of Prakasam District, Mr. Ch. Chitti Babuwas the Resource Person for the Training programme. The training was organized for the tribals and SC’s in thevillage. More than 26 villagers, both men and women, weretaught how to prepare Leaf plates and cups of different sizesand shapes making use of paper, leaf, plastic, etc. Theywere educated about the cost and income aspects,availability of the raw material and also where they canmarket the finished product.

Training Programme in Skills Development -CandleMaking for NSS Students

In view of Christmas, and to facilitate light to thestudents during power cut, the Department of LifelongLearning organized Training Programme on SkillsDevelopment to the NSS students in Candle-making. Itwas organized in Sriji Vidyapeeth of Prakasam district on13th December 2011.

Prof. P. Syama Thrimurthy, HoD of the Dept. of LLL,coordinated the programme. Dr. M. Subba Rao, QualityControl Officer of ITC, was the chief guest for theprogramme. Mr. D. Narasimha Rao was the resourceperson for the programme. Initially, preparation of candleswas demonstrated. Later the NSS students were completelyinvolved in preparing the candles with different moulds.Students made use of papaya leaf & and other items toprepare candles. They exhibited their creativity in bringingout different shapes, colours and ideas for using them. Morethan 300 students including 45 NSS students could getbenefit by this training programme.

Awareness programme on Role of Body language inCommunication Skills on 14th December, 2011 at SriGorantla Venkanna Oriental College, ThimmasamudramVillage.

The Secretary of the College inaugurated theprogramme while Dr. V. Shivshankar Rao, Principal of the

college, presided. Mrs. Y. Suneetha, Faculty in ANUEngineering College was the Resource Person for theprogramme. More than 70 students learning Orientallanguages participated in the programme. The programmewas coordinated by Rajasekhar, P. Pushpa Rani, and M.V.Ramana.

Mrs. Suneetha created awareness in the studentsabout how body language is important along withcommunication skills.

Training Programme for the Fishermen in Out boardMotor (OBM) Trouble shooting & Maintenance

The department of Lifelong Learning organised Six DayTraining programme for the Fishermen in Outboard Motor(OBM) Trouble Shooting and Maintenance in ChiralaVodarevu during 19-24 December 2011. The resourceperson for the training was Mr. Khadir Khan. The programmewas coordinated by Prof. P. Syama Thrimurthy with thesupport of Mr. Rama Krishna, Programme officer of JSSOngole and the help of the departmental staff.

The main objective of the programme was to train thefishermen about the various problems they encounter whenthey go out for fishing. Problems they generally face arestopping in the middle of the sea, because of breaking ofpipe, nozzle and fan, when air and other particles get stuckup, plug-cleaning, adulterated diesel etc. The trainingincludes how to repair the boat while in the sea, replacetroubled parts, cleaning of the plugs, changing oil etc.

The programme was attended by 15 fishermen. Theirliteracy level ranged from neo-literates to Graduates withinthe age range of 18 to 45 years.

A meeting of all the women staff of the Acharya Nagarjuna UniversityCampus has been arranged by the Centre for Women’s Studies on 21-12-2011 to discuss various issues related to women of the campus. Prof K.Jyothi Viyyanna Rao was the chief guest on the occasion. Teachers andsupporting staff participated in the meeting and discussed the following:

1. Declaration of Charter of Rights for Women .

2. Establishment of Day Baby Care Centre for Women on the campus

3. Formation of Campus Women Forum to deal with the problems facedby women of the campus

Acharya Nagarjuna University and Krishna University jointly conducted the Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival 2011 inANU Campus during December 1-3, 2011. The convener of the Youth Festival was Prof. N. Samuyelu, Coordinator ofStudents’ Affairs. Sri V.N. Vishnu, IAS, District Collector & Magistrate, Guntur, was the Chief Guest while the Vice-Chancellor I/c of ANU and Krishan University Prof. K. Viyyanna Rao presided over the function. The Registrar I/c of ANUProf. G. Prasad, the Registrar of Krishna University Prof. D. Surya Chandra Rao and the former Registrar, ANU were theGuests of Honour.

Sri Syam Sundar, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory functionwhile Sri A Kodanda Ramaiah, Rtd. Deputy Commissioner (Commercial Tax Government of Andhra Pradesh) was theGuest of Honour.

SOUTH ZONE INTER-UNIVERSITY YOUTH FESTIVALThe winning ANU team participated in South Zone Inter-University Youth Festival at Satybama Deemed University,

Chennai, during December 18 - 23, 2011. The ANU Team won the first place for "Folk Orchestra". The team wasaccompanied by Prof. N. Samuyelu, OSD, Student Affairs and Mrs. M. Saraladevi, the team manager.

NSS ACTIVITIES (OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2011)Special Camps:

It is remarkable that the Vice-Chancellor sanctionedas many as 103 special Camps during the Dasara Vacationfor implementation in the University area. Prof. N. VijayaRatnam, the Programme Coordinator, visited the Campsfor inaugural and review purpose.

The NSS Cell, ANU organised, district-wise twomega blood donation camps as it is an annual feature. Atthe camp organised at ANU campus as many as 535 unitsof blood has been donated by the volunteers of Krishna andGuntur districts. The blood drawing agencies were Govt.General Hospital Blood Bank and Red Cross Blood Bank,Guntur, Red Cross Blood Banks of Vijayawada andMachilipatnam and Lions Blood Bank, Vijayawada. Blooddonation camp was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor Prof.K.V. Rao and coordinated by Prof. N. Vijaya Ratnam.

Another mega blood donation was organised at AKVKDegree College, Ongole wherein as many as 350 units ofblood have been donated by the volunteers of Prakasam,District. The Govt. General Hospital Blood Bank and Lifeline Blood Banks Ongole, have drawn the donated blood.Mr. Nageswara Rao, Joint Collector, Prakasam districtinaugurated the camp which Prof. N. Vijaya Ratnam hascoordinated.

District level Youth Festivals:NSS Cell, ANU has allotted the responsibility of

organization of district level Youth Festivals to Dr. ZakirHussain Degree College, Ibrahimpatnam, Krishna district,SS&N College, Narasaraopet, Guntur district and ABMDegree College, Ongole, Prakasam district.

The Coordinator inaugurated the Special Camps ofthree units of AG & SG College, Vuyyuru, reviewed theprograms, special camps and two units of SS&N College,and NC&KR College, Narasaraopet. He attended the specialCamps of the two units of Teja D.V.N. College, Nandigamaconducted at Magallu. It is noteworthy that besides “cleanand green” activities, the units have organised the MedicalCamp for the benefit of the sick. The three units of AndhraLoyola College, Vijayawada, organised a special camp atRamavarappadu Railway station, conducted socio-economicsurvey, literacy, “Clean and Green” and identification of HIV/AIDS patients and organised rallies on HIV/AIDS awareness.The NSS Unit of ANU Pharmacy College organised One-day medical Camp at Kaza Village, conducted Health Surveyand provided treatment to 150 patients.

ABM Degree College, Ongole, organised a YouthFestival for Prakasam District in which 21 collegesparticipated. The festival was inaugurated by DistrictRevenue Officer and Prize distribution was done by theDeputy Superintendent of Police, Praksam district.

The NSS Programme officers meeting for Prakasmdistrict was conducted in AKVK Degree College, Ongole.Besides the programme Coordinator, Dr. G. Bhaskara Rao,state liaison officer and R. Gokula Krishna, Youth officerand Head were present. The presentation of the progressreport for the year 2011-12, and Action Plan for the year2012-13 was made by the Coordinator. The state levelofficials have stressed the need to observe the other facetsof NSS.

Samaram, Prof. G. Prasad,Principal, Prof. N. Samuel, Prof. Noor Basha Abdul, FinanceOfficer, representatives of NGO and volunteerrepresentatives were present. The review of the progressof the NSS activities during 2011-12 was made and theAction plan for the year 2012-13 was been approved. Themembers advised to discontinue the practice of collectionof registration fee from the volunteers. Unanimity prevailedon the issue of revival of organization of Youth Festival.

University College of Physical Education & SportsSciences conducted 35th Inter-Collegiate Athletics Meet (Men& Women) for the year 2011-12 on 5th & 6th December, 2011.This meet was inaugurated by Prof. G.Prasad, Registrar I/con 5th December, 2011. Adventure Sports Programme - Trekking camp at Seshachalam Hills, TirupathiThe Department of Physical Education & Sports Sciences successfully conducted the first Trekking Camp with

final year M.P.Ed., students of University College at Seshachalam Hills, Tirupathi from 7th to 13th December, 2011 underthe UGC sponsored merged scheme “Adventure Sports”. This camp was completed in collaboration with Youth HostelsAssociation of India, Vijayawada unit, Vijayawada, which is affiliated to International Youth Hostels Federation.
