Smt. Priya Ganesan, Master Arunkumar Sridhar were found functioning in the keypositions in the Registration Counters.

General Secretary Sri T.S. Jayabalan and Joint Secretary Sri P.R. Gopinathan read the

details of horoscopes of Nowran and Nowrin registered in the Mela and simultaneously

introduced them on the stage along with their parents.

After lunch and upon getting the required no. of copies of the matching horoscopes, the

parents utilized the services of Sri P.R. Surendran, KUSO's official astrologer.

It is observed that the parents who had come from Bangalore, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy,

Salem, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Walajapet, Paramakudi, Palayamkottai, Kumbakonam,

Tirubuvanam, Rasipuram, Thanjavur and Ayyampettai had registered the horoscopes of

their children in this Mela. Parents of applicants who work in the U.S.A., Japan,

SoudiArebia had also been seen in the mela hall.

Vadai and Coffee as morningrefreshments, mid-day lunch andm i x t u r e a n d t e a a s e v e n i n grefreshments were provided to ourvisiting parents and their children.Lunch was prepared and provided byP.K. Gopi Readymade SamayalKuzhu from Dindigul.

This 19th Mela came to a close by 6 pm with the vote of thanks by our Committee MemberSri P.M. Balaji.

Sri V.G. Gopalakrishnan, President, KUSO and one of the chief guests narrated as tohow the sourashtra women folk was supportive to the bread-earners in their family some 70years ago. By tieing knots to the sungadi sarees during their leisure hours i.e., after attendingroutine kitchen works, they were able to earn small amounts in those days which was veryuseful and beneficial to the entire family on those days, he explained.

Sri A.N.M.R. Ganesh Babu, MD., Amirtham Sweets, insisted on the great value of theamounts spent on common and beneficial matters for the public utility. There is no meaningaccumulating useless wealth in everybody's hands, he stressed.

Sri S. Raththinavel, Sr. President, Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce, Madurai, basicallyappreciated the efforts of the sourashtra womenfolk in entering into business arena. He hadalso suggested certain guidelines for the women entrepreneurs as to how to come outsuccessfully in their business ventures using their spare time beneficially after attending theirroutine family works.

The annual day celebration was well organized by Smt. T.S. Radhika,Smt. V.G.R. Vasuki, Treasurer, Dr. J.R. Vijayalakshmi, Vice-President, Smt. K.K. Rojarani,Joint Secretary, Smt. S.P. Gita Bharathi, Vice-President - the office bearers team headed bySmt.A.R. Mahalakshmi, President, Sowbhagya Women Entrepreneur Club. �

THE NATIONAL MEDIA CONFERENCEHeld on 7th September, 2013 at Hubli.

Print Media is reaching to more and more peopleAmidst the huge competitions from

electronic media, the print media is reachingto more and more people. And this isappreciable said Jagdeesh Shettar, theex-Chief Minister of Karnataka afterinaugurating the National Media Conferenceon Saturday, 7th September, 2013 at VasaviMahal, in Hubli (Karnataka State). ThisConference was organized by the Association of Small & Medium Newspapers of India,which is recognized by the Govt. of India. This Conference was attended by many editors,publishers and journalists from all over the country from different states.

Addressing the media people, Jagdeesh Shettar said that the small and mediumnewspapers have survived amidst the central level and the state level large newspapers. Thenumber of small newspapers is increasing day by day. He said that he had started his careeras a lawyer, but even earlier to this he worked as a journalist for Vishwa Vani Newspaper for afew months. Remembering his days as a journalist, Shettar said that he is aware of theproblems faced by the small and medium newspapers. He said he would pressurize theGovernment to solve the problems faced by the small and medium newspapers and fulfilltheir demands.

Mangipudi Aruna of Central PressAssociation Committee from Andhra Pradesh, Venugopal Naik and Appasaheb Patil werepresent on the dias and were honored by garlanding and offered with a momento.

On this occasion, Venugopal Naik, State Convener, was nominated as the President ofAssociation of Small & Medium Newspapers – Karnataka Unit. Addressing the audience, hesaid that this is the first time that the National Conference of Small & Medium Newspaperswas held at Hubli. Due to lack of proper organization, the problems of Small & MediumNewspapers have remained unsolved. So it is necessary that the editors, publishers, ownershave to organize themselves and strengthen the Association. Then it is possible topressurize the Government to solve their problems.

President of the Conference K.D. Chandola said that small and medium newspapershave been publishing local news and also district and taluka-wise news, which have helpedthem to preserve their existence. He gave a call to all the journalists to stand united andrequest the Government to increase the tariff for Government advertisements.
