Instructions on how to create your own talking avatar! We are going to begin a very cool assignment in which you demonstrate to me your speaking capabilities through a personalized avatar. There are several options in using your avatar that we will explore throughout the year, but for now we will just be learning how to set one up, personalize, and incorporate what we are learning in class at the moment. Follow these simple instructions so that you may begin to set up your voki: *First, open a new tab, allowing that this tab still be open so you may follow the directions while you create your avatar. *Next, type the following address into the location box: http://www.voki.com /

Instructions on how to create your own talking avatar! We are going to begin a very cool assignment in which you demonstrate to me your speaking capabilities through a personalized avatar. There are several options in using your avatar that we will explore throughout the year, but for now we will just be learning how to set one up, personalize, and incorporate what we are learning in class at the mo-ment.

Follow these simple instructions so that you may begin to set up your voki:*First, open a new tab, allowing that this tab still be open so you may follow the direc-tions while you create your avatar. *Next, type the following address into the location box:http://www.voki.com/

*Check your email for the activation link that will allow you to use your new username (email address) and password to sign in.

After you sign in, select the “create” icon from the middle of the tab at the top left.

From here, you may begin to customize the appearance of your avatar.

There are many options to explore that allow you to create an avatar that represents your personality. After you are done changing the physical appearance of your avatar, it’s time to give it a voice.

*Select the phone icon.

*Now you may enter your cell phone number in and allow voki to call you, or you may select the “or, call the old fashioned way” option.

After you have either called the number or the website has called you, leave your message that may last up to 60 seconds. (MAKE SURE THAT YOU PRESS # AFTER THE MESSAGE OR

IT WILL NOT BE SAVED!) You can re-play the message back and keep try-ing until you get one that you like.

(The specific requirements of the mes-sage will be stated at the end of this tuto-

rial).

After you are happy with your message and select “done”, hit the “publish” tab. Once you see this screen, choose “small” as the option to embed in the site. And then select “get code”.

It will give you a code that you can copy and paste into the class wiki.
