New Officers were installed at the Installation Banquet on May 26th at St Mary’s Seminary for the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston. Mass was celebrated by Cardinal DiNardo in the Chapel and it was followed by a wonderful catered meal. A great time was enjoyed by all who attended. Recruiting demands and exercises all the talents of each one of us to continue the work started by our Patron Saint Junipero Serra. After hard work and persistence from Jerry Schrader, our Club Membership V.P, five members will be welcomed and inducted as members of Serra at a mass pre- sided by Fr. Jim Courville on July 26th, 6pm at Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood, TX. A volunteer signup sheet will be circulated for this event. Life Awareness Retreat Christian Renewal Center Dickinson Life Awareness Weekend, July 27-29 (Starts Friday at 5pm-Sunday at 2:30pm) in Holy Name Retreat Center. Come and join other single men and women of faith, ages 18-45, who are searching and discerning God’s call in their lives. Life Awareness is a weekend retreat of prayer, silent reflection, presentations, group discussions, and sharing on one- on-one. Sr. Francesca has asked our club for help with the following on this retreat: Registration on Friday 4-6pm (4 - 5 people) Prayer Support in the Christian Renewal Center Chapel, Saturday 4-7pm (as many people as possible.) Social on Saturday evening 9-10pm (2-3 people)

Café Catholica Every summer, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston invites all young adults for a weekly event on the first four Mondays of July to increase their knowledge of their faith and to provide resources to take to their school, work-place and to their families. Mass, free dinner and a great speaker. The office of Vocations supports Café Catholica and has a display booth to give more information about the priesthood and religious life to young adults. To learn more about his event visit: www.cafecatholica.com AYC Houston Vocations participates in summer conference for teenagers AYC by promoting our retreats, gatherings and dinners to invite teens to be active in their discernment and consider the priesthood or consecrated religious life for their lives; to pray for their vocation and be open to what ever the Lord is calling them to serve Him with. INVITATION TO ANYONE DISCERNING A VOCATION TO PRIESTHOOD OR RELIGIOUS LIFE.

VIRTUS Training: All Serrans must be VIRTUS trained in order to be in compliance with Diocesan policy. No Serran may participate in volunteer activities after January 2017 without VIRTUS training. Registration is done online at VIRTUSonline.org . There are numerous locations and times from which to choose. If it is your first time, remember to select “ Protecting God ’ s Children for Adults ” - not one of the “ refresher ” sessions. Plan to arrive 30 minutes early for the 3 hr. training. The whole registration process only takes a few minutes. You will get almost im-mediate email confirmation. ALL SERRANS must comply with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston policy.

SR. ROSALIE KARSTEDT RECOGNITON - (Bill Clary)

Sr. Rosalie Ann Karstedt was recognized for her integral part of vocations work in our Archdiocese for over 3 decades. Sr. Rosalie belongs to the Congregation of Divine Providence and has been a Catholic schoolteacher and a parish director of religious education. She has served on numerous boards including: the Texas Catholic Conference board of directors; the Board of National Vocations Division of Paluch Press; the Board of Direc-tors of Shalom Center; the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Seminary; the Board of Di-rectors of Assumption Seminary.

She was co-chair of the Department of Vocations (Texas Catholic Conference). She was on the executive committee of Region X Vocation Conference. Sr. Rosalie served for 22 years as the Associate Director of Vocations and Seminarians for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. And she has most recently served (since 2005) as Associate Director of Pastoral Formation here at St. Mary’s Semi-nary. Sr. Rosalie, thank you for your ministry. Thank you especially for all you have done for vocations.
